It is a film directed by Scott in 2008.

Since it is an old movie from several years ago, of course there is no spoiler issue. It's a story about anti-terrorism. The Islamic terrorist organization has produced a series of terrorist attacks. In order to capture Alsarim, the terrorist leader who planned these attacks, the CIA and the Jordanian Intelligence Agency worked together to obtain intelligence and tried to find Alsarim's hiding place. The CIA sent a capable spy Roger Ferris to work with the Jordanian spy chief Hani, and Ferris’s commander was the CIA leader Hoffman. So around these intricate relationships, began one scam after another. The title "Body of Lies" means this. Hani developed an informant in the terrorist organization. Hoffman was eager to find the trace of the terrorist organization and hunted down the informant. Ferris helped the informant escape in order to put a long line. Ferris also meticulously created a fake attack and blamed an architect who had nothing to do with the matter in order to attract Alsarim's attention. Hani secretly kidnapped Ferris's girlfriend, using Ferris as a bait to catch Alsarim, but almost killed Ferris.

The whole film feels like a cheating game.

In today's society, whether in officialdom, shopping malls, espionage agencies, or the military, cheating has become the norm. In politics, this is called "strategic means", in the market, it is called "competitive skills," in the military, it is called "soldiers are not tired of fraud," and in intelligence agencies, this is the basic skill of being a good spy. I admit that these deceptions are necessary on many occasions. The enemy cannot be defeated without this method. From the perspective of fighting evil with good, whether it is intentional or white, lies are morally permissible and should not be blamed. However, the three problems encountered by lies are: 1. How to distinguish good from evil? Who will decide? 2. How to define the scope of lies? 3. What kind of people are qualified to deceive others?

Whether it is the United States, Jordan, or Islamic organizations, they all think that they represent justice and see the other side as a representative of evil. All of them can cite scriptures to prove the justice of their cause. In the film, Ferris said: "The Koran does not advocate the indiscriminate killing and suicide." Alsariem retorted: "But in the Koran it is recorded that sacrifices in the name of the Lord will not die, they are alive. It’s just that you didn’t find it.” The reason why faith becomes faith is precisely because people who believe in this ideal use it as a sword of justice to eliminate injustice. In fact, if we broaden our horizons, we can know that all beliefs have their rationality and are bound to have defects. For example, the doctrines of the three major religions are the oral records of great men thousands of years ago. It is hard to imagine that people's values will stay thousands of years ago. What's more, there are many contradictions in these oral statements. We have no way of knowing the circumstances under which the greats of sturdy have said such things in response to which events. Therefore, the method of judging justice does not lie in people's respective understanding of the classics, but in judging whether the actions brought about by the faith itself promote the future progress of mankind.

Well, let's tentatively think that it is correct to deal with terrorism. So can it be concluded that all the measures you have taken are correct? Of course not. The necessary lies are certainly feasible. However, the abuse of these methods is unacceptable. The "body" in "Body of Lies" is the use of the bodies of these flat-headed people to promote this sinful lie. The innocent architect in the film is an example. They didn't hire anyone and didn't mess with anyone, they just focused on their own construction projects. However, the CIA was disguised as a larger terrorist leader, and also planned to attack the US air force base. In the end, he died tragically in the hands of real terrorists. The same goes for Ferris's girlfriend. She is just an ordinary nurse in the hospital, and her only hope is that the war will end soon. But accidentally fell in love with the special agent Ferris, and almost suffered the whole family. According to Hoffman's theory: "No one is innocent in this war." But this does not mean that those people are obliged to give their lives for your lies. Even Ferris, as a spy, has no responsibility to act as bait and cannon fodder.

People who make up lies are different from normal people. They are people made of special materials. Their genes are full of talent for making lies. Ordinary people believe in integrity and kindness. Occasionally speaking nonsense, you will be blushing and be at a loss. But for professional liars, lies are an indispensable way for them to communicate with others. Just like the Jordanian spy chief Hani in the film, he can watch the torture of prisoners by his subordinates calmly, making up a lie has become commonplace. In the bones of these people, there has never been justice and truth, nor have they believed in kindness and sincerity. For one purpose and one instruction, you can make up a big lie without hesitation, and your face doesn't change color and your heart doesn't beat. Over time, it becomes a habit and will look at the world with hypocrisy. Can you expect them to show sincerity in life? Can you still expect them to be happy in life?

No matter what your profession requires of you, it is always sad to make up lies. In any case, deception is not an act worthy of praise. The words "lie, disguise, voyeuristic, masked, sneak attack" are not commendatory. Society is progressing, and the hatred and hostility between people is slowly dispelling. There is a need for sincere relatives between people. One day, lies will be cast aside by people. At that time, it was the great world of mankind.

My score: 6.5.
