silent Hill

An anecdote a few days ago was that a director named Uwe Boll couldn't bear the criticism of film critics, so he challenged the critics to box the winner. Four film critics faced each other, but Boll got down one by one. Boll was an amateur boxer before becoming a director.

If Boll's filmmaking level is 10% of his boxing level, then I don't think he needs to compete with film critics in the boxing ring. The three recent movies he made are "House of the Dead", "Alone in the dark" and "BloodRayne". There are two common features of these three movies. The first is the explosion, and the second is the adaptation of the game.

There are actually a lot of movies that have these two characteristics at the same time, new ones such as "DOA" and old ones such as "Street Fighters". If "The Hours" proves that movies can be a kind of art, then these movies also prove that movies can be a kind of rubbish.

In fact, there are very few movies that can be watched in live-action movies adapted from games (excluding cartoons made by the Japanese). I can only think of the "Resident Evil" series.

In this case, "Silent Hill" should indeed be the best game adaptation movie.

If strict requirements are imposed, the movie still fails to show the deepest essence of the game, the evil, desire, and fear that originate from the human heart. However, at least on the surface, the movie is already very good.

The most impressive thing in the movie should be the design of various monsters. The monsters in the game "Silent Hill" are already very special, and the movie reproduces the image design in the game as much as possible.

It is difficult for me to find suitable words to describe these monsters. They are not scary, but I definitely don't want to face them. Just seeing them makes people feel uncomfortable, but this discomfort is not out of fear.

Looking at the film’s production highlights later, director Christophe Gans said that the monster’s image design should be prominent to make people feel uneasy, not scary. Discomfort and fear are different.

Christophe Gans is very accurate, or the production team of this movie has realized his intention very accurately.

After watching the tidbits, I discovered that the computer super-levels in this movie are much less than I thought. I began to think that those monsters were all made by computer animation, but after watching the tidbits, I discovered that almost all the monsters were performed in silicone costumes. This is probably because the animation cannot accurately make the feeling they want.

Now that people are used to play monsters to highlight the feeling of anxiety, of course, a bit of work must be done in the action design.

The nurses who appear in the second half of the movie have a jazz dance feel in their movements.

In fact, they did find a dancer and choreographer to design the movements of these monsters. And this designer also played two monsters in the movie. One is a worker who appeared in the school toilet, and the other is a red pyramid with a big sword and a file head. These are the two monsters that impressed me the most in the movie.

It turns out that this choreographer named Roberto is the most important actor in this movie.

IMDB scored 6.5 (24340 people voted), I scored 6.
