The main storyline of "Alita: Battle Angel" selects the plot of the first twelve chapters in the comics, which is roughly similar to the plot of the 93 version of "Gun Dream" OVA.
The main reason why the OVA of the 93 version of "Dream of Fire" was criticized was that the plot of the entire twelve episodes was forcibly compressed to less than an hour in length , resulting in the inability to develop the plot in depth, and quite a few supporting roles were cut or did not appear directly. The character's design has also become a little thinner, but at least the ideological connotation of the original work is retained.
The plot of this movie is based on the original work and OVA. Although some plot designs and character remodeling are unsatisfactory, and the ideological connotations are not too deep, but compared with the comics, the plot is not limited to the first twelve chapters, but some are introduced in advance. The characters and plots that appeared after the twelfth chapter are used as easter eggs; compared to OVA, they enrich the plot to a greater extent.
Alita (Gary)
In the original comics and OVA, the heroine is named Gary. In the comics, the name "Gary" was taken by Ed to commemorate his deceased male cat. The OVA did not mention the origin of the name "Gary", but in the movie, Ed was in memory of his deceased daughter Alita. For the convenience of description, hereinafter collectively referred to as Alita.
The appearance settings of Alita in OVA are quite young, but in the movie it is closer to a teenager.
After continuous updates of the comics, Alita's origin story is generally clear, and it is even clear that her real name is Yoko . The 93 version of the OVA barely mentions Alita's backstory, not even her iconic Damascus knife, mecha, and berserker body. The movie includes these iconic elements of Alita, and even the terraforming war hundreds of years ago in the main storyline and her experience of mecha training are presented in flashbacks, which can also be regarded as a flashback. Afterwards, the film made a sequel and paved the way.
In the movie, the Damascus knife originally belonged to Zapan, and later became a trophy that was taken away by Alita; the Damascus knife in the comics was given by Alita's mobile ball coach. Later, it was mostly one-handed.
In the movie, the body of the berserker was obtained by Alita's induction of the Huolian spacecraft sunk in the lake, and probed the water into the cabin. In the comics, it was Ed who discovered the spaceship and the Berserker body. Ed hid the Berserker in the basement because he was afraid of the power of the Berserker's body. When it comes to the Berserker body, we must mention Alita's first-generation prosthetic body. In OVA, after Alita was rescued by Ide, she used the same prosthetic body from beginning to end, and also had the "particle jet" function, which is estimated to be the body of the Berserker. The first-generation prosthetics in the comics and movies were all put on the Berserker body because they were damaged in the battle with Gruishka (Makak). In the comics, Alita's first prosthesis came from a murdered street girl, which made Alita suspect that Ide used serial killings in order to create a prosthesis for herself. The first prosthesis in the movie was Ide. It was supposed to be for the dead girl.
The mobile ball game was only mentioned in the first 12 chapters of the comic and in the OVA. Alita did not participate. Later, in order to make money to help Hugo go to Sharem, Alita just did her job as a hunter warrior and worked hard to make money. , instead of participating in a mobile game. Alita's participation in the mobile game is after Hugo's death in the comics, that is, the thirteenth chapter. It is estimated that the plot is advanced in the movie to build momentum for the sequel, but Alita's mobile ball debut in the movie is a major attraction.
In the movie, Alita shows Id the functions of the Berserker's body, which includes the release of blue flames from the fingertips, known as "ion jets". In the comics, Alita finally defeated Gruishka, and in the OVA, it was the White Hot Palm used to kill the seriously injured Hugo.
Alita and Ed's relationship
Alita in the three versions once suspected that Ide was a serial killer. Later, because of wanting to have his own autonomy over life, he had a conflict with Ide, and all three versions of Ide understood that he should not interfere too much. Alita's self-consciousness. However, in the early stage of the comics, Ide seemed to have a bit of a ghost father complex. He was beaten by Gruishka and had to save the half-hearted Alita. During the period, he also said some very ambiguous words; and Alita was even more Obviously Electra, once wanted to live as Ide ideally, the two seem to be interested in each other. Later, Ide had a conflict with Alita, and immediately woke up. Even though Alita "empathized" with Hugo, Ide still had a blessing.
Uncle Wa's Ide is quite restored to the comics, except that he is older. The most representative characters of Uncle Wa should be the treacherous Colonel Hans in "Inglourious Basterds" and the charitable Doctor Jin in "Django Unchained". If the two extreme images are combined, it just corresponds to the early suspense. Uncover the previous image of Yide and evil. Maybe the actor is old and there are not many action scenes. When OVA Li Yi De saw Qilian who was decomposed into living organs, he was also angry at the crown, and he took Alita's role to fight two; Yi De's performance opportunities in the later part of the movie were not as good as the related chapters in the comics. , was directly weakened into an NPC who assigned tasks to Alita, and did not even know that Qilian had been killed in the end. In the movie, Ide did not show the Sharem citizen mark on his forehead, which is not the case in the comics and OVA, but the advantage of this setting is that Ide has accepted the reality of being banished to Scrap Iron Town, so the mark is erased, thus In contrast, Qilian, who has always kept the mark, has the obsession to return to Sharem.
Qilian
Qilian is an original OVA character, not in the comics, and continues to use this character in the movie. The advantage of OVA and the movie is that letting Ide have his own relationship can weaken his ghost father color. In OVA, the two used to be lovers, and the movie directly wrote the two as husband and wife and had a daughter.
In both the OVA and the movie, Qilian has a strong obsession with returning to Sharem, but the changes in their mental journeys are not the same. In the comics, Alita uses her own life support system to connect Hugo's head, and Qilian came up with this method in OVA and the movie. Because of her help, Alita can save the dying rain. fruit.
Qilian in OVA despises living in Scrap Iron Town, and has all kinds of disgust for Scrap Iron Town. She has to cover her nose with a handkerchief when walking on the street, feeling that she has been abandoned by Sharem; at the same time, she values and even envy Ide's skills , I can't figure out that he is so talented but wants to stay in Scrap Iron Town. He feels that there is an irresolvable estrangement between himself and Yi De, and that he is abandoned by Yi De - in short, an insecure woman . Later, Gruishka asked her to transform, she initially refused, but after knowing that it was defeated by Ide's "work" Alita, she changed her mind, trying to prove that her technology was better than Ide through Gruishka. Gruishka in the OVA is not very powerful, and was killed by Alita in seconds. Seeing that she was defeated by Yi De, Qi Lian vowed to prove that she would be better than Yi De after being discouraged for a while. The seemingly inspirational is actually the deepening of her obsession: because Yi De's will is unshakable, she can only prove that her skills are better than him. Only then can she respond to his "abandonment", and the way to prove herself is to listen to Viktor's words and constantly transform and strengthen the prosthetic killer, which is what she thought, a check for the chance to return to Sharem. In the end, it was through Alita's unintentional remarks that " if the loved one is more fascinated by something far away than himself, he will inevitably become jealous ", and he woke up and unlocked his heart for "abandoning Ide". In conclusion, help Alita save Hugo. But in the end, another knot of her heart, "Sarem's abandonment", was not resolved. At the last moment, she was attracted to Victor's lie and was decomposed into living organs.
Qilian in the movie resented that Ide did not protect her daughter well, and by the way, "Hate House and Wu" had a grudge against Alita, knowing that Gruishka was defeated by Alita before agreeing to his transformation request. The biggest change in the movie is to let Qilian see through Victor's promise of "send you to Sharem" in advance, but the adaptation is rough: Victor is complacent about using Hugo to indirectly let Alita participate in the mobile game, Qilian asked about this. What was it? Victor slapped the back of his head and said, "I promise to send him to Sharem", and Bi Qilian's expression changed slightly, implying Qilian's choice in the end. Later, Qilian tracked down Alita, but was moved by Alita's love for Hugo, and it was not ruled out that she was touched by Alita, who has the same name as her dead daughter, and chose to betray Victor. In the end, Victor's lie didn't work, and Qilian decided to leave. With this change, the IQ of the movie version of Qilian was more online than the OVA version of Qilian. However, the footsteps of a third party other than Viktor and Qilian went to the elevator door. It was estimated that they were caught by the hidden Viktor's men and forcibly decomposed into organs.
Regarding this character, I personally prefer OVA's Qilian, the direct reason is that there are two benefits. Regarding the plot of Gruishka asking Qilian for help, the movie is very restored to OVA, and it all happened when Victor and Qilian applauded after assigning tasks and leaving. Although sometimes it is more attractive to be half-covered than completely naked, but I feel that Qilian in the movie is not as attractive as the naked Qilian in OVA, perhaps because Jennifer is no longer the little Deborah in "Once Upon a Time in America". Now, Qilian in the movie is more than intellectual, but not enough of temptation. At the level of the character story line, the OVA version of Qilian tells the tragedy of an insecure woman who overcomes her knot, and when she is almost full of merit, she has a delusional thought and dies her tragedy; the movie version is about a woman who resents her ex-husband and The story of returning home and obsessively anesthetizing himself, and finally being transformed and awakened, but still unable to escape death. The tragedy of the two is similar, but I personally prefer the delicate and tactful of the former.
OVA Li Qilian and Ide sat down and chatted, and burned the cockroaches on the dining table with cigarette butts to show their disgust with the filth and backwardness of the scrap iron town. Gloves leave and get on Victor's luxury car, which is a tribute to OVA.
In the movie, Qilian said to Ide, " Even if I want to crawl back to Sharem with my hands, I will do what I can. " This is an insinuation of Hugo's madness before his death in the comics and OVA. Climb back to Sharem. As for Hugo in the movie, he was basically crushed without even getting through the first defense ring.
Hugo (Yuger)
The film version of Hugo is the biggest flaw in the whole film, almost becoming Alita's vase. In short, it was washed too white, and even Hugo's obsession with Sharem was almost washed away.
①Acquaintance
In the comics, the acquaintance of Hugo and Alita stems from Alita's pursuit of the prisoner "Pharmacist" in Chapter 8. Alita falls into a coma during the pursuit and wakes up to meet Hugo. During the period, the prisoner attacked again in the form of a werewolf. Alita first caused a fatal injury to the werewolf while Hugo was not paying attention, and then asked Hugo to make up for the knife, causing Hugo to protect herself. Alita was about to fall from the roof, but Hugo rescued him but did not pay attention to the weight of Alita's prosthetic body, and then fell together. After landing, the two laughed at each other. "You are too heavy, I can't hold you" (the importance of this line does not need to be said).
The acquaintance of the two in the OVA is not thrilling, and the plot is advanced before Alita suspects and tracks Ide, but retains the plot that Hugo did not hold Alita but fell from the roof together with her. related words.
The movie version is too bland, it's just an ordinary street encounter, and then enhances the feelings by simulating a motor ball.
② commit the crime, and Victor
The common black point of the three versions of Hugo is to attack the prosthetics and steal their limbs, but at the same time, they will not harm their lives. After the comic version of Hugo commits the crime, he will change his voice to call Ide to ask him to rescue the prosthetic person. There is no similar plot in the OVA version and the movie version.
In the comic version and the OVA version, a certain Hugo succeeded in committing a crime, leaving the injured body of the stolen body. Victor rushed to express his appreciation for Hugo's criminal behavior, and then cut off the injured person's head in front of Hugo. , told Hugo to be kind and soft-hearted soon; he invited Hugo to his headquarters to drink wine from Sharem, and at the same time promised that Hugo would collect tens of millions of chips and send him to Sharem. Hugo has since been more attentive to Victor. Victor took Hugo home by helicopter, and Alita went out to greet him. Alita was afraid that Hugo would learn badly with Victor, so she spoke harshly to Victor, and then waited for Hugo by the window until he woke up.
However, in order to clean up Hugo, the movie did not present the plot of the comics and OVA in which Victor killed in front of Hugo. It was probably to set Hugo to be a little pure who didn't even know that Victor would kill and kill his mouth. Victor wanted to shoot the champion of the mobile ball game. They all want to get rid of Hugo before they do it - but the comics and OVA Rivektor's scene of beheading a customer was transferred to the plot of Zapan to blame Hugo in the movie .
The movie retains the other two versions of the plot of Hugo and Victor returning drunk after drinking. Alita did not contact Victor. When she arrived at Hugo's house, she squatted by the window like a kitten and waited for Hugo to wake up. Maybe it was Pay tribute to the setting that "Gary" is the name of a male cat in the comics.
③Encounter with Zapan
In the comics, Zapan used to alienate Hugo from his relationship with Alita before fishing law enforcement. Later, when he officially acted, he pretended to be a customer who needed to add oil from his back, and lured Hugo to move his spine until he took out the tools. Take his personal loot and get it. Hugo was deceived and arrested, and Hugo's companions Fan and Danzhi stepped forward to rescue him, but they were both beheaded by Zapan. Among them, Hugo's shoulder was pinched and bleeding, and both the OVA version and the movie version were restored . The difference is that Hugo has only one companion in the OVA. In the movie version, Zapan's fishing law enforcement is actually more like framing the blame. Originally, Hugo prepared to wash his hands with gold plates. In front of Hugo, Zhapan cut off the head of a dummy man. Fan had been scared away before, but Danzhi stayed behind to help Hugo, but was stopped by Zapan.
In the three versions, Hugo set fire to Zapan and escaped. In the comics and OVA, Zapan put Hugo as a wanted criminal and stopped for the time being. The movie version continued to pursue Hugo.
In the comics and OVA, Hugo brought up this trouble. The first thing was to call Victor. The comics described Hugo's psychological state in detail when he was fleeing. Thinking of her at this time has nothing to do with her... It depicts Hugo's complex emotions and repressed love for Alita. In the movie, Hugo encounters this turning point in his fate by calling Alita. On the one hand, Hugo is chased and killed by Zapan, and on the other hand, Alita evades the pursuit in the mobile ball game while cooperating with Hugo. The two-line chase scene can be said to be the most creative adaptation of the comics in the whole film.
④ Obsession
In the comics and OVA, Ide and Alita are walking on the street. Alita saw the wanted notice for Hugo, braved the rain, crying and ran to find Hugo's daily hiding place (corresponding to the two in the movie). The "Old Church" where we agreed to meet). Then Alita made a bold confession, domineering against Hugo (the wall was cracked), Hugo stroked his face and said, "You will become an accomplice", and Alita kissed Hugo. The four movements are a set of procedures, and the short seconds such as the 93 version of OVA are preserved, but the movie version simply ignores this very dramatic bridge and brings Alita's "first kiss" to the equipment of the Berserker body in advance After that, Alita's way of showing her love by "digging her heart out" is obviously not as shocking as the strong kiss in comics and OVA.
Similarly, Hugo's story about his brother and sister-in-law's past was also deleted from the movie version, but was largely retained in the OVA version. This is a past event that influenced Hugo's life, made him obsessed with Sharem, and eventually led to a tragic fate. In the comics, Hugo's obsession with Sharem stems from the story of his deceased brother. Hugo was raised by his brother and sister-in-law since childhood. His brother wanted to use a hot air balloon to fly to Sharem. In the end, he reported his brother, so that his brother was killed by the hunter warrior Bai Hot Palm. Afterwards, although Hugo continued to be raised by his sister-in-law, he eventually ran away. He found his brother's hand in the organ market and asked to give his hand in exchange for his brother's. In the end, under the guidance of Victor, Hugo transplanted his brother's hand to his wrist, and kept the scar to remember the past, forming a deep-rooted obsession with going to Sharem. This obsession is stubborn and pure. Comparing Hugo to Victor, both of them rely on Sharem. Hugo has lived by obsession with Sharem for most of his life. It doesn't matter if he can beg, he's an idealist; Viktor doesn't have this enthusiasm, and thinks he can use his power to speculate on the shipments to Sharem and get rich, and it's enough. The concept of the duo is mentioned in all three versions.
⑤The other side of the cloud
The film also mentioned Hugo's obsession, but it was superficial, and the cause of the obsession was deleted, which made Hugo's motive for trying to climb the transportation pipeline to Salem too weak, due to improper plot arrangements. lead to further weakening. In the comics, Hugo successively learned from Ide that there are tens of millions of chips that can't get on Sharem, and then went to confront Victor with Alita; and the inspiration for the end of Qilian in the movie version) , which drove Hugo into madness and attempted to climb the transport pipeline to Sharem. In the OVA version, after the successful operation, Hugo overheard Ide telling Victor's lie and went berserk, madly climbing up the pipe. In the movie version, Alita is alone to hold Victor accountable. The factory finds out that Hugo is still alive, and Idna secretly releases Hugo. So in the movie version, Hugo had one more motive to climb the transportation pipeline, just to escape for his life, after all, the scrap iron town couldn't stay any longer. Anyway, the movie version does not reflect the madness of Hugo after the collapse of hope , and the obsession with Sharem is no longer pure, but has an actual need to escape. There is no crazy despair like the other two versions, and the sense of tragedy is greatly reduced . In the end, Alita persuaded Hugo to give up his obsession, but the defensive ring came down. The two parted forever between the clouds. The setting of the defense ring in the comic version is that the stowaways (Sharem called it a mouse) will trigger a defense ring every half a kilometer; it is not mentioned in the OVA, it is estimated that it follows the setting of the comics; the movie version is changed to The villain Nova deliberately lowered the defense ring to kill Alita and Hugo.
Hugo said goodbye to Alita, the comic is "I'm glad to still be able to talk to you in this situation" ; OVA is "It's nice to meet you" ; The movie version is "Thank you for saving me" ... ...it's easy to see which is better and which is worse. In the three versions, Alita inserted the knife into the transport tube with one hand and held Hugo's remaining mechanical arm with the other, but in the end she was unable to keep Hugo. Back when the two met for the first time, Hugo's sentence "You are too heavy, I can't hold you" is really a tear-jerking intertext setting. It's a shame that the movie version didn't follow the intertextual plot of the other two versions.
Gruishka (Markak)
The three versions of Gruishka have different character storylines. In short, the screenwriter took a part of the stories of the two Gruishkas in the comics and the OVA, adjusted the story timeline, and mixed it up. The film version of Gruishka .
In the comics, Alita suspects that Ide is killing people in order to build a body for herself, so she follows Ide and finds that Ide is following a young woman and "stops" Ide before she finds out that she and him are both caught in a trap: Ide The woman to be protected is the prisoner Nysia who has been offered a bounty. Nissa attacked Ed, and Alita defeated Nissa for Ed to let Ed see her strength. This was her first battle. Alita then insisted on registering as a hunter warrior, and in the next episode, she clashed with Gruishka. Gruishka is a brain eater and has a large worm-like body that parasitizes other strong organisms. At that time, Gruishka had a sidekick, but this sidekick was killed by Ide. Gruishka shattered Alita's first prosthetic body, but was blinded in one eye by Alita, who had only the head and one arm left. Gruishka showed the prototype of the big bug's body, pierced Ide with his tentacles and left, and threatened to take revenge.
When Alita and Gruishka met again, it was in the Kansas tavern. At that time, Alita had been equipped with a Berserker body, and Gruishka also won the mobile ball game by sneak attack and won the five-fingered scythe. (Bone-Breaking Steel Knife) body, this means that both of them have the six gods outfits and then line up, and set the main battlefield in the sewers. After a fierce battle, Alita defeated Gruishka, during which she also learned about his tragic life experience : abandoned by her mother since childhood, eating garbage in the sewers for a living, and then being set on fire by hooligans on the ground When he died, Nova transformed his body into a big bug, but at the same time, Nova set a bad habit of eating brains. Gruishka said that it was finally time for Alita, the person who could end her life, to free herself from this living environment where life is worse than death. Alita shed tears for this first-generation rival.
In the OVA, Alita suspected and followed Ide, and found that she fell into the trap of Gruishka and her followers. The duel with Gruishka and her followers became Alita's first battle. Ide cut off an arm of his servant, but hit the opponent with a knife. Alita came and knocked off the head of the valet, then shot Gruishka down the drain after breaking one of her arms. Gruishka asked Qilian for transformation, and Qilian installed a five-fingered scythe (bone-shattering steel knife) for him, and took him as her "work" to challenge Ide's "work" at the Kansas tavern. Rita. The two sides faced off in the wilderness. OVA followed the plot of Alita creating cracks on the steel claws in the comics. When Gruishka launched her ultimate move, she would abolish her right hand, and then was split by Alita and killed on both sides. OVA only mentioned that Gruishka is addicted to brains, but the parasites of other organisms by the body of big bugs, and the tragic life experience are not shown.
The first adaptation of Gruishka in the movie is to write Gruishka and his followers in the comics as a group with Nissa, or it can be understood as the first battle of Alita's comic book opponent and the two first battles in OVA. Opponents are incorporated into the film as characters in the opening battle.
In the comics, Gruishka smashed Alita's first prosthetic body, but was blinded in one eye by Alita who only had her head and one arm left. The movie restored the plot. However, Gruishka in the comics is stronger. The first-generation body can already smash the first-generation prosthetic body of Alita. In the movie, it can only be achieved after being upgraded by Qilian.
In the comics, the prototype of Gruishka's body of a big bug appeared in the movie.
OVA Reid cut off an arm of Gruika's servant, but hit the other side with a knife. This small detail was moved to the movie intact.
In the movie, Gruishka lost the first battle against Alita, threatening revenge is the setting of the comics, and the exit method of jumping into the sewer is the setting of OVA (in OVA, he was kicked by Alita, which is relatively useless).
In the movie, the plot of Gruishka equipped with a five-fingered scythe (bone-shattering steel knife) combines the plot of the comics (the arm of the mobile ball champion) and the OVA (the design of Qilian).
In the movie, Gruishka made a scene at the Kansas tavern, which also integrated the plot of the comics and the OVA. He first stabbed a passerby who asked for an autograph for a fan in the Kansas tavern who mistook Gruishka for a mobile game champion in the comics, but was finally divided by Gruishka; Gruishka Ka stabbed the puppy Xiba to death again, corresponding to the bloody plot of dismembering the puppy in the OVA. But the puppy Xiba did not die in the comics, but interfered with the injured eye of Alita and Gruishka during the final duel, and obeyed Alita's instructions to rescue the kidnapped baby. . In the movie, Ke Mi is Hugo's Asian friend, and the actor played Li Qianhuan in "Fork Man: Apocalypse".
In the movie, a group of hunter warriors refused to provide assistance to Ide and Alita on the grounds that Gruishka did not have a corresponding wanted order. In the comics and OVA, it was simply because of cowardice.
In the movie Gruishka said that Alita would be made into a living pendant, which is also mentioned in the comics.
In the comics, Alita is smeared with tar from the sewer, and in the OVA and movie versions, it is blood.
Nicia's shape is too beautiful. In the comics, it is a very ordinary female ghost image, but in the movie, it is a female killer with fishnet stockings, boots, legs and a metal prosthesis. This strange taste is very Rodriguez. And Nicia's actor did act in the drama version of "Killing Before Dawn".
Zapan and White Hot Palm
In the comics, Zapan and Alita had a grudge against Alita in a Kansas tavern, and then in order to retaliate against Alita, he attacked Hugo and carried out fishing law enforcement against Hugo. This plot is restored in the movie. OVA Rizapan's brief appearance was only to enforce the law on Hugo's fishing, and he has since disappeared. In the comics and OVA, Rizapan did not continue to pursue after Hugo set fire to escape, but in the movie he pursued it to the end. The movie also restores the plot where Alita faked Hugo's death in the comics. After Zapan found out the truth, he was reluctant to give up. After being disfigured in the comics, Zapan once became a rival with Alita .
Zapan seriously injured Hugo in the movie, but in the comics and OVA, this scene belongs to White Hot Palm. White Hot Palm is just soy sauce in the movie, and it is one of the hunters in the tavern that Zapan introduced. In the comics, White Hot Palm is the murderer who killed Hugo's brother , melting off half of Hugo's body; OVA inherits some of the settings, but changes it to use a knife as a weapon, and is a martial idiot, every time Alita takes a shot, he There must be onlookers at the scene, and Hugo's arm was cut off. His obsession with Alita and his desire to fight against her are probably alluding to Gruishka's attitude towards Alita in the comics. In the comics and OVA, White Hot Palm was knocked flying by Alita's "Ion Jet", and finally killed by lightning.
Question to Victor
In the comics, Alita takes the transformed Hugo to the factory to confront Victor. Victor sent a prosthetic bodyguard Sariki (who served as an experience pack in the mobile ball arena), but Sakiri was defeated by Alita, and Hugo went mad when he learned the truth. Alita is worried about Hugo and has no intention of persecuting Victor further.
In the OVA, after learning that Victor's lies ruined Hugo's life, Ed went to the factory to find Victor to seek revenge, and used Hugo's hard-earned money to smash Victor's front teeth, but then through Qilian's earrings, he found that Qilian had been disassembled , exposed to want to kill Victor. Victor summons Sariki, but Sariki is smashed to pieces by Id, who hits Victor with his pincers and kills him.
In the film version, Alita played the role alone, and Sariki's role was completely replaced by Gruishka. But Gruishka was split in half by Alita, copying the death method in the OVA. Victor acted as Nova's seance carrier, and was killed after exchanging harsh words with Alita.
Nova and Sharem
Nova does not appear in the OVA at all. Nova played the role of a shit stick in the early stage of the comics, and there is a vague shadow of a villain, but with the update of the comics plot, the character design has become more complicated, and the relationship with Alita has become more and more subtle. In the comics, Nova, like Ide, is a scientist exiled by Sharem, indulging in brain experiments.
In the movie, Nova is almost the spokesperson of Sharem, and the setting is also a big boss. Through Alita's memory flashback, it can be seen that Nova is the core of evil, raising Victor and Gruishka on the ground. Minions and eyeliners, high-pressure rule over Scrap Town. Sharem's suppression of Scrap Iron Town in the movie more or less reflects some dystopian colors, but it is still slightly inferior to Sharem in OVA. Qilian and Hugo in OVA are not wicked people. Instead, they have some commendable highlights, but in the end they both fell because of their obsession with Sharem, and they ended up in pieces. This kind of plot is even more Highlight Sharem's evil nature. The desirable city in the sky, despising the bottom world, in addition to making garbage is tempting to self-destruct, this contrast setting is shocking enough. In contrast, the film version of Sharem is more oppressive than seductive.
other
Replacing Ide's friend, Mr. Ganz, with a black female assistant, I feel that this eldest sister is a very embarrassing existence. After all, there are few lines and few opportunities to play, just like a symbolic character.
Scrap Iron Town is also translated into Steel City, with a bright and beautiful appearance, it does not look like a city that relies on the garbage of the Sky City to develop. And the cities that make their fortunes from garbage are so dynamic, so what about Sharem who makes garbage? I still like the "dirty sci-fi" texture in the original. In order to expand the audience and position PG13, there is only cyberpunk left in the wasteland cyberpunk. The cyber version of Mad Max.
My favorite line in the comic "If the loved one is more fascinated by something far away than he is, he will inevitably feel jealous and hate because of love" . Projected the relationship between many pairs of characters in comics or OVA, such as Ide and Qilian, Hugo's brother and sister-in-law, Alita and Ide in the early stage, Hugo and Alita. Anyway, watching OVA can see the feeling of love literature and art, watching the movie version can only be enjoyable.
If the comics have five stars, the OVA of "Dream of Guns" will be four stars, and the movie version will be three and a half stars.
