Incredibly Mediocre

After the whole movie, my thought was that Spielberg really still had two brushes. I thought The Post was a pretty good work, but it wouldn’t hurt if there was no comparison. The mediocrity of On the Basis of Sex made me realize Spielberg Berg's skill is not to be underestimated. There are countless flaws in this movie, not to mention the blandness of the narrative and the dullness of the characters. The battle of legal affairs has a paediatric feel to it. I feel that some episodes of The Good Fight are better than this one. It is an insult to freedom and feminism for American culture to continue exporting value with such naive, sensational, and silly routines.

The first thing that makes people feel physically uncomfortable is the forced sensational clips and the kind of routine shooting techniques, which are so quirky to the bones, every such scene makes the picky aesthetician in me scream. In fact, RBG's life story is very dramatic, but the director's lens language and the screenwriter's poor script can make the "real" "drama" disappear, which is really eye-opening for me. Including walking and walking into RBG himself, curling up on the bed when my husband was sick, and turning around when I couldn't talk to the boss... These old-fashioned routines made me miss the trailer before the movie started. CAPERNAUM, at least from the preview, the lens language is much more vivid and deeper than this movie. The level of this director is really too bad, going back and forth to home school, the screen switching is blunt, and the plot advances all rely on the black screen plus years, which is unbelievably mediocre.

The last court battle was the climax of the mediocrity of the whole play. I really have nothing to say when the court scene is filmed like this. Almost every frame is a slot, and there are too many slots. The confrontation in the courtroom can be very interesting to write, but the director made the most obvious sense of political speech in real life, which is terrible. The shaping of the so-called "villains" is extremely superficial, and does not show their arrogance, but shows the arrogance of the whole play. There's no way that any kind of engaging dramatic conflict can shine without the help of a great villain.

When I just finished watching this movie, I thought it was so average. When I walked out of the movie theater, I felt like it was mediocre. It made me cherish Spielberg. Now when I write a movie review, it's already: How could God be so funny? It's unbelievable that the subject matter is so dull and banal!

I watched it at Kendall Square Theatre with two friends on Christmas Eve. The theater was very good, but the movie was helpless.
