Fantasy becomes absurd

The scene is gorgeous, the picture is beautiful, the characters are fairy tales, the story is dreamy, and even the theme is damn romantic. Everything is so beautiful, but the whole is embarrassing. The first half secretly sighed for the x-frame of the film, did not dare to let go of a clue, relying on a group of foreshadowings buried by the director to guess the plot, at least a black hole opened in his brain. The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment, and the second half did not meet expectations at all. I can feel that the film wants to output values and sell feelings, but the narrative cannot keep up with the height of thought, and the latter part is a bit incomprehensible. I feel that the rhythm of the film is too chaotic and the progress is too flat, which leads to incoherent plots, and the climax is not very prominent.

It’s too dreamy, and there are too many tributes in it

It's a good film, but it's not a good movie. The performance, character image, and detailed arrangements are all terrible. I cannot view old Martin's work from a child's perspective and only with dream-making standards. Samsung is all about technology and visual effects.

Hugo quotes

  • Hugo Cabret: Isabelle... do you want to have an adventure?

  • Hugo Cabret: My father took me to the movies all the time. He told me about the first one he ever saw. He went into a dark room, and on a white screen, he saw a rocket *fly* - into the eye of the man in the moon. - It went straight in.

    Isabelle: Really?

Hugo Cabret: He said it was like seeing his dreams in the middle of the day. The movies were our special place.
