The synopsis of the movie is quite simple: Roy, the hero who has been separated from his wife for many years, pretends to be sick in order to save his family.
The title of the film, "The Trenbaum Family", is also translated as "The Genius Family". Because the male protagonist's three children are very talented. The eldest son has a very high business acumen at the age of 12, the second daughter wrote a script at the age of 9 and won an award, and the younger son is a tennis champion in the third grade. But when they grew up, their careers stagnated one by one, they became emotionally estranged from their parents, and gradually lost themselves.
Director Wes Anderson is known as "the most creative, passionate and literary independent filmmaker in the new generation of American directors". His works are distinctive and unique, make full use of color art, pay attention to details, and contain interest, metaphors and a great amount of information in addition to the popular and beautiful.
From the very beginning of the film, I felt the director's strong personal style. In the middle narrative part, there is a feeling of calm on the surface and waves brewing inside. Until the end of the film, the family stood in front of Roy's screen, speechless and silent. The tombstone reads "Die heroically to save his family in a sunken warship". At this moment, a strong sense of sadness is in my heart. It came naturally, but there was a smile on his face.
It's an indescribable feeling. I don't know if I was moved by the story, or if I let the music render my emotions. I just feel an uncontrollable sense of loneliness, happy and sad.
Several children in the film lack parental care since childhood and are precocious and lonely. Each of them seems to have locked their hearts tightly, longing for love and afraid of being hurt, and they have no direction in the rush of life. The irresponsible father wakes up in his twilight years and tries to make up for it. The lost time cannot be recovered, but only by opening up your heart and facing it sincerely can you have the courage to move on.
"Growing up is a compromise over and over again, but what really matters is not the compromise itself, but the transcendence of pain and frustration that comes from it, the courage and determination to move forward without being trapped in tragedy." This is what I saw one day. A paragraph of text, I think a good movie can make us grow up and realize life in a single thought.
