Professor's Office and Study Daytime
The magnifying glass moves over a painting, and the image becomes clearer and clearer. This is a work from the middle of the eighteenth century. The most distinctive feature of the painting is a lady sitting in the center of the family. The oil painting hangs directly above the desk, and an old professor with a short mustache and a pair of glasses is watching it carefully. Although he was well-dressed, he still gave off a slovenly look.
The professor looked at the two businessmen and sighed, "Yes...that's it."
The walls of this study and office are covered with paintings. The tall bookshelves are filled with various books. In addition, small tables, armchairs, chairs, and nooks and crannies in the house were filled with books.
In the room, there was also a forty-five-year-old lady in a coquettish dress.
The professor thought she came with the antique dealer, so he glanced at her approvingly of the oil painting. When he found that the easy chair she was sitting in was full of books, he hurriedly moved the books away.
Professor: "I'm sorry, I'll find another place for you..."
The lady got up and lit a cigarette.
Lady: "If you allow me, I'd like to take a look on the platform." She pointed to the platform in the background.
Professor: "Oh, of course!"
She walked slowly onto the platform and stared into the distance. A tall building with a dome roof and a bell tower in the city of Rome have a panoramic view.
The deal in the study is still going on. The professor hesitated.
Professor: "The painting is really flattering, but..."
Second Antique Dealer: "Professor, don't think it's too expensive! Last year, someone in Sulzburg was willing to..."
The professor interrupted: "Three thousand pounds."
Then they started talking about the painting on the sofa again.
Antique Dealer A: "Professor, if I want £3,500... what do you think?"
Antique dealer B: "The price they offered me yesterday was..."
After browsing the hallway, the lady returned to the room and walked past the three men negotiating the deal. The men glanced at her in amazement. She rudely pushed open a door in the room and examined everything inside. This is a small hall, like other rooms, the furniture is full of bookcases, and the walls are decorated with a dazzling array of artworks.
She smoked and pushed open another door, which led directly to the dining room. She looked at the professor's maid, Erminia, and said, "Can I ask you something?"
Erminia: "Of course, ma'am."
in the study. The two antique dealers exchanged glances while taking advantage of the professor's appreciation of the paintings.
Antique dealer B: "We leave the painting here, you can think about it..."
Professor: "I've considered it, and the price has to be negotiated again. Take it!"
He approached the painting again, picked it up, looked at it, and placed it on a sofa full of books.
Antique dealer B: "We're going to see a few paintings at Cassia's villa. I don't want to put this painting in the car... We'll send someone to take it away tomorrow."
Antique dealer A: "We will meet again, bye."
Professor: "Goodbye."
Antique dealer B: "It's a pity that you missed such a good opportunity."
After the professor had sent the two merchants away, he approached the painting again, picked it up, took off his glasses, and examined it carefully. At this moment, the lady Bianca came in.
Bianca: "Yo, are they gone?"
Professor: "Yes." He is still looking at paintings.
Bianca sat silently in the easy chair the professor had vacated for her, smoking a cigarette leisurely.
The professor put down the painting in his hand and prepared to see off the guest. Because the three of them were supposed to come and go together.
The professor approached her: "Are you the owner of this painting?"
Bianca: "What?"
Professor: "Aren't you?"
Bianca: "It's so valuable? Two liars!"
The professor was more and more surprised: "Liars! They are the owners of the Blanchard Gallery in Paris. Didn't you come with them?"
Bianca said nonchalantly, "I met them in the elevator just now."
The professor was puzzled: "Then...you..."
Bianca: "Your janitor and maid told me that there is a room upstairs that is vacant and that I would like to rent it."
Professor: "I don't rent houses! Also, I'm going to move a batch of books there."
Bianca: "Come on, Professor. I've seen it, down the hallway over there, in the kitchen...I think if you change those bookcases of yours, the problem will be solved."
Professor: "I don't want to make a new bookcase or rent out a house. Please forgive me."
Bianca: "Then, could you please let me see?"
Professor: "Look at... what?"
The two stood up at the same time.
Bianca: "That suite! Maybe I don't like it! Don't bother you, just let your maid accompany me."
The professor approached the door and called, "Erminia!"
Bianca walked to the maid who had stepped out of the kitchen after hearing the sound.
Professor to Erminia: "Give me the key upstairs."
Erminia: "Yes, Professor."
Professor Bianca: "I don't want people to think I'm unreasonable, but I'll say it again, I don't rent!"
Bianca: "Well, let's take a look first. I've been looking at these windows for many years! Whenever I go shopping in the city, I always park my car at the Piazza del Campidore..."
The professor accompanies the female guest to the door.
Bianca: "It's hard to find a place to park in the city center. That's why I decided to rent a house in this area. I live 20 kilometers from Rome..."
The maid handed the professor a coat to put on. When the professor opened the door to the landing, he suddenly found an eighteen or nine-year-old girl dressed in red and black.
The girl raised her charming face and smiled: "Hello, how is it?"
Bianca glanced at her, then turned to the professor.
Bianca: "This is my daughter Rieta."
Lieta: "Hello!"
Bianca: "Oh, I'm so sorry, but I'll introduce myself by the way. My name is Bianca Brumondi..."
The professor motioned for the two female guests to come with him.
Stairs and uninhabited lofts Daytime
The professor didn't say hello to the girl.
The three went up the stairs. The mother and daughter walked in the front, the professor followed, and unhappily stomped on the cigarette butt that Bianca threw on the ground...opened the door.
Lieta walked to a window at the landing to view the city. She said intoxicatedly, "Ah, it's so beautiful here!"
Bianca: "Ask Stefano if you know the owners of the Blanchard Gallery. I think they're all liars."
Rieta: "Blanchard Gallery? It's famous, as well known as Curristy and Sulzburg."
The professor paid no attention to the conversation of the two women. He walked in the door, turned on the light, and turned to invite the two women in.
Professor: "The window is nailed and can't be opened. Hurry up, I still have work to do."
The professor stood at the threshold, hoping that they would leave soon.
Bianca said nonchalantly, "Rieta, come and help!" She was about to open a window.
The professor was surprised: "Madam, please behave yourself!"
The shutter was pried off, and Lieta pushed the window open.
Bianca: "Don't worry, I'll re-pin it."
Sunlight lit up the room through the shutters. Suddenly, there was a man's voice.
Stefano (voiceover): "Amazing! Bianca, you're a genius!"
At the door, stood a young man no more than twenty years old. He is personable, unrestrained and generous, and the colorful striped scarf around his neck is particularly eye-catching.
Bianca: "Don't be too happy, he won't rent it to us!"
Stefano: "Why don't you want to rent to us?"
Professor: "I told your mother from the beginning that I don't rent this house, but he insisted on coming up and have a look."
Bianca explained: "Thank God he's not my son!"
Suddenly, an unexpected sound came from a corner of the room.
Conrad (voiceover): "Bianca! Twist your ass and come to me! You'll be happy!"
Bianca immediately defended the voice and said sullenly, "What is Conrad doing here?"
Stefano said to the professor: "I'm sorry." Then Bianca, "Why didn't I see him!"
Bianca said disgustedly: "Why is he here? He said he would not come, why did he make an appointment with you again?"
Stefano: "God knows, have an appointment with me?"
The professor got up and closed the window, ready to see off the guest. Bianca closed the window first, and Sfatno helped her nail the shutters.
Bianca said to the professor: "Don't worry about it, I will nail it."
Conrad (voiceover): "The crane took your car away!"
Conrad stood at the threshold, blond and handsome young.
Bianca glanced at him angrily: "Can't you stop it?"
Conrad: "Honey, you never entrusted me with the car keys."
Bianca: "Idiot!"
Conrad said bitterly: "Okay, can you show me this luxurious chicken coop?"
Bianca: "Don't talk nonsense!...Rieta, Stefano, go and see if the car was really pulled away, and try to tow it back."
They left the room together and went downstairs. The sluggish professor was last, and he turned off the light gloomily, closed the door, and went down the escalator.
Professor's study and office · Afternoon
The professor was on the phone at his desk, staring at a painting above his armchair.
The professor called: "Miss, is Mr. Blanchard here?...Yes, is it me...Mr. Blanchard? Ah, what a pity...that's the case...I have to trouble you to send someone else Come to me, now I've decided to buy this painting...what...is it sold? When was it sold?" There was a look of displeasure and frustration on his face.
The professor hung up the phone in disappointment.
The next morning, the doorbell rang. The professor remained motionless at his desk and wrote.
Elminia knocked on the door and stood at the door to announce, "Lawyer Mitchley is here."
Professor: "Come in, Mitchley! Come in!"
The maid leaves. The visitor seemed a little nervous.
Professor: "Please sit down."
Mitchley, wearing a long coat and carrying a large leather bag, entered the room and sat down.
Michele: "Yesterday afternoon, I received a call from the Marquise de Brumondi...you know her..."
The professor said bluntly, "I've seen her, and I'm not interested in her at all."
Lieta: "Professor, be careful, don't do stupid things, I can hear you!"
The professor looked at the lawyer's helpless expression with questioning eyes. Rieta walked into the room comfortably, holding the oil painting that the professor loved.
Lieta: "Are you happy? We've bought it back."
The professor stood up abruptly, took off his glasses, and looked at the woman in front of him. Stefano's smiling face appeared behind Rieta.
Lieta: "Where to put it?"
As soon as he saw the oil painting, the professor's frosty face immediately burst into a smile, and his eyes sparkled. He hurried forward, helped the girl put the oil painting on the sofa, and stood in front of the painting for a long time.
Lieta said smugly, "We bought this painting on a second hand."
Michele panicked: "I was about to tell you that yesterday afternoon, I received a call from the Marquise of Blumondi, and she made a very interesting suggestion."
The professor sat down, puzzled: "A suggestion?"
Michele: "Yes. As your agent, I will take everything that is beneficial to you seriously; and for any unexpected events, I am obliged to advise you..."
Professor: "Mitchley, please make it clearer."
Lieta: "It's all our fault." She smiled and complimented. "Professor, I understand you. I know you hate my mother, but don't reject us because of her. Years! If you had known how important this house is to us, you would have given us a floor!"
Mitchley interjected: "Professor, you told me that before the spring, you don't plan to use the new study... That's why I took the liberty..."
Professor: "No! No!"
Mitchley: "The Marquise said that the lady is engaged."
Rieta: "I just wanted to try it with Stefano. My mother agreed that I would live here with Conrad and Stefano."
Professor: "Who is Conrad?"
Lieta said impatiently, "You saw him yesterday. After all, this house is rented for him."
The professor looked into Lieta's eyes: "You are so frank! Then, let me meet you honestly! I am not in a hurry to move those books upstairs. I am old and sometimes hysterical. I don't I am willing to meet strangers and like quietness, so I don’t want to rent out the house upstairs.”
Lieta firmly believed in her own charm and tried her best to persuade: "You are not old at all, let alone hysterical, you are really lovable! You have your own hobby, that is, collecting oil paintings."
The professor's eyes returned to the painting, which seduced him deeply.
Mitchley: "Professor, just satisfy these kids, um, sign a one-year contract..."
Corner of Maid's Living Room and Living Room Suite Daytime
A few days later. The maid was ironing her clothes in the room next to the kitchen, and she was startled by the loud noise from upstairs, as if someone had been pounding the walls and floor with a hammer. Pieces of lime and rubble fell from the ceiling from time to time.
Erminia panicked: "My God! What's wrong?" She hurried out of the room.
After a while, the professor came back from the street. After entering the door, he handed the scarf and hat to the maid who was waiting in the living room.
Erminia: "Good night, Professor."
Professor: "Good night, Erminia." He suddenly found the sawdust falling from the gap in the ceiling, and was amazed: "What's going on?"
Erminia said uneasy: "You can see it in the cloakroom and the kitchen... Fortunately, you ate dinner outside, otherwise I wouldn't be able to cook an egg for you."
In the living room, the tide spots that spread from the wall with the silk tapestry were particularly noticeable. Tide spots have spread to a painting on the wall.
Professor: "It's all wet."
Elminia was proud to be able to give a dramatic account of what had just happened: "It's all right now. I've closed the valve on the reservoir. You should find out what happened, though. It's like a bomb going off during a war!"
The maid babbled endlessly.
The professor removed the painting on the wall and observed the water erosion, and it seemed that the problem was not serious. He interrupted the maid: "Okay, don't say it... Give me the key to the room upstairs and get a flashlight."
He hung the painting back in its place. The maid went out.
Corner of Landing and Upstairs Suite · Dusk
In the twilight, the professor and the maid walked up the stairs to the platform. The professor approached the door of the suite, inserted the key into the keyhole, and opened the door to enter. With the dim light of the flashlight, the professor was stunned by the sight: the suite was full of rubble, and the walls were half destroyed, as if they had been bombed by a plane. He walked into one room, and then to another room, where bricks and tiles were everywhere. Suddenly, the beam of another flashlight in the room intersected with the beam of the professor's flashlight.
Conrad's voice: "Who, is it Mauro?"
Conrad lay on a rocking chair.
The professor walked over with a serious expression: "My house is full of rubble and leaking water! It's all your fault! I can't spare you! You lunatic!"
Conrad rudely said, "You're crazy! Drill around like a thief! Shoot!" He pulled out his hand holding a small pistol under the blanket.
The professor said sarcastically, "If you could explain why you did these stupid things, I'd die!"
Conrad: "Do whatever you like in your own home!"
The professor said coldly, "The contract only says to repair the meal and update the toilet!"
Conrad suddenly changed his tone: "Professor, I beg your pardon. I know very well that the rental contract is only a piece of paper when necessary." His tone was firmer, "The contract to buy the house is in my name!"
The professor was shocked: "A house purchase contract?"
Conrad: "Yes, I've paid for the house in advance."
Professor: "I only signed a one-year rental contract, and it's only for one year, and it can't be extended!"
The blond boy got up from the rocking chair wrapped in a blanket.
Conrad: "Can I make a phone call?"
Professor: "Call?"
Conrad: "Yes. I think you'll have to clear it up with Mrs. Bloomundi, but I'll be there too."
Professor: "As you wish."
Study and living room night
Two men came from the living room to the study next door, where there was a telephone. Just as the maid was about to leave, Conrad ordered, "Hey, please bring me a glass of whisky, pure."
He picked up the phone and started dialing.
Professor: "I don't have hard alcohol at home."
Conrad: "Any wine?" The phone was connected.
Professor: "If you must, have wine."
Conrad: "I'm glad you're not a drinker," he said to the maid. "Bring me a glass of red wine, please."
The maid leaves. At this time, someone was answering the phone.
Bianca's voice: "Who is it? Please speak!"
Conrad called: "Aha, it's you! How are you, you bastard! You've got to make it clear about the deal I just made! You're making fun of me!"
Bianca's voice: "I don't understand, what are you talking about!"
Conrad: "That's the house, my darling!"
Bianca's voice: "I don't know what you're going to say."
Conrad yelled into the phone, "Go to the hell! There's a man here who speaks better than I do!"
Bianca's voice: "Hey! How can you talk to me like that." Conrad handed the telephone receiver to the professor.
The professor tried his best to stop the abuser: "Ma'am, I'm a professor! Please listen to me for a few words!"
Bianca's voice: "What's so great about you! You let that rascal answer the phone! I have something to say to him!"
The professor spoke to the phone and raised his voice: "Hello!"
Bianca's voice: "Please, please let Conrad answer the phone. Stop talking nonsense!"
The professor said urgently, "Please let me say a few words!...Hello!...Madam...If you don't believe me, you can go to my lawyer!"
Bianca's voice changed tone: "No, no, professor, excuse me! We misunderstood. I'll explain everything to you in a minute, I promise! It's that nasty guy!"
Conrad snatched the telephone receiver.
Conrad: "I won't listen to your explanation! Do I have to work for you for a year? Tell you, you made a mistake! I'll say goodbye to you now, idiot!"
He hung up the phone vigorously. After that, he took the red wine handed by the maid and tasted it.
Professor: "Good night, Erminia."
Conrad took a few sips, then lit another cigarette, and inhaled in silence, his anxiety difficult to conceal. The maid left immediately. Conrad sat down on the sofa and put his feet up on a small rickety table in a nonchalant pose.
Conrad: "It's over!"
Professor: "I've never been involved in things that have nothing to do with me. But I haven't figured it out yet."
Conrad stared at each other: "You already understand, Professor. The richer a person is, the more immoral and vulgar they are! The vulgar is utterly vulgar!"
Conrad walked to the small living room next door, followed by the professor. Conrad looked strangely at the furniture, which had been white-covered for dust.
Conrad: "Yo, what's going on?"
Professor: "Oh, nothing, the same goes for the other suites."
Conrad: "Let them pay for the damage, it costs a few million. You listen to me, it costs a few million."
The blond man approached a hi-fi record player and picked up a record.
Conrad: "When was this record released?"
Professor: "New, just sent from New York. A beautiful aria from Mozart, "Oh, God, I'll Explain to You." He sat down.
Conrad: "I've been wanting to listen to this piece for a long time, can you listen to it?" He put the record on the rotating turntable, "Unfortunately, I've never been to a concert, but listening to the record, it's a good idea. Not bad."
Conrad finally calmed down. While listening to the music, the professor looked at the young man in front of him: he was really elusive. Although he looked calm on the surface, his eyes were scrambling. Obviously, the quarrel on the phone just now made him uneasy...
Conrad: "I adore Mozart!" After a while, "Oh, I have to make a phone call," he grabbed the phone, dialed the number, and the call was connected. "Jenny? Guess who I am? Hey, do you decide to go back to St. Maurice tomorrow? . . . well . It's just me, little fool..." He pointed to a painting in front of the professor, "Artur Davis?" The conversation on the phone continued. "No, stop talking... Listen to me, I'll call you later, eh? Goodbye!" Hang up the phone.
He put down the microphone and looked at a painting on the wall with great interest.
Conrad: "This painting belongs to Artur Davis, right?"
The professor was a little surprised: "Yes, he is an eighteenth-century painter."
Conrad: "My friend also has a painting by Artur Davies, it's a landscape, and there's a building like that in that painting, but it's in the center of the picture, not Like this one of yours, painted on the side."
The interest in the same painting makes the two experience completely different things, and in an instant a common language emerges.
Professor: "Even so, it's probably a work from the mid-eighteenth century."
Conrad: "I'll get you a photo to take a look at. However, I know this painting very well, it's just the one near the phone..." He grabbed the phone again, dialed a number, and the phone answered Got through, "Who is it? Is it Marcello?...Hey, who else is in my group?...Ok? If it's nearby...what about you guys? Forget it, I don't want to play anymore today. I'll tell you about it tomorrow, bye!" After hanging up the phone, he said to the professor, "This house is so weird! Actually I don't like it, but somehow I'm fascinated by it. already."
Conrad: "I want to come and chat with you often in the future." He shook hands with the professor, "Good night, professor!"
Professor: "Good night!"
Conrad: "If you want peace of mind, I advise you to cut off the line. Mrs. Blumondi may have to call you in a moment. This is a difficult person, take my word for it."
The professor watched the blond Conrad step out of the door, lost in thought. In the room, Mozart's aria continued to echo.
Upstairs Construction Room Daytime
Bianca said nervously: "I don't want to go to your lawyer! I'm not interested in your business! What's your reason? Don't think I came from Paris on a plane full of Arabs overnight just to listen to you. Said they destroyed a wall!"
The professor was very annoyed: "A wall?"
Bianca: "Dear professor, your words and deeds are really absurd. As for our contract, I can say what I want to others, and I don't need you to intervene! If you must intervene, I think you have ulterior motives. Are you Instead of protecting my interests, are you still speaking for Mr. Huier?"
Professor: "What did you say? I don't protect anyone's interests, Mr. Huier, I don't know this person at all."
Bianca: "You don't know? Well, I'll tell you, he's a friend of mine, a young man. Do you want to know how much I pay him a month?" She suddenly changed her tone and said to herself painfully He said to himself, "It's disgusting to be so low-key!"
The professor was unhappy, and he was overwhelmed by the embarrassing situation in front of him. Coincidentally, the appearance of Rieta and Stefano broke the deadlock. The two chose their way among the piles of bricks and planks.
Lieta was surprised: "Mom! When did you arrive?"
Bianca vented at Steffa: "You idiot, you are not as smart as a mosquito! Put these things in order, as they were!"
Stefano: "I, I did what you said!"
Bianca pulled Rieta onto the balcony and asked her mysteriously: "Where is Conrad?"
Lieta: "I didn't see him. Mom, didn't you tell him you were coming back?"
Bianca: "No. I made a decision on an ad hoc basis and took the first flight."
Lieta: "Why?"
Bianca: "That old guy told him I didn't buy the suite! Now I'll have to buy it."
Lieta: "The professor doesn't want to sell it!"
Professor's study and living room · Day
The professor and Lieta sat opposite each other at the desk.
Professor: "...I don't care about your mother's hysteria. I'm not interested in this kind of person without self-control, and I don't want to make any comments. I repeat that I have no interest in this!"
Above the sofa hangs the painting that Lieta brought the other day.
Professor: "If, as you said, the lawyers have signed the contract and promised to pay for everything to be restored to its original state...then the house will be yours!"
Lieta: "Ouch, misunderstanding! You are such a generous and amiable person! I promise not to mention our family to you in the future."
At this time, Stefano appeared at the door. He saw the professor's face full of anger, and it was inconvenient to enter the room.
Rieta: "Now, if you want, tell Stefano what to do upstairs. But please don't forget that we have an agreement to build another bathroom. I like the bigger one than the current one. This one is twice as big, and…”
The professor's hearty laughter interrupted Rieta's words.
Lieta: "What are you laughing at?"
The professor held back his smile and said, "It's as if we don't speak the same language and don't understand each other."
Lieta: "What's so funny about that?"
Stefano: "Professor, please take a look at the design plan of our upstairs suite." He spread the floor plan in his hand on the table, "The wall to be knocked down is marked in yellow."
Professor: "Okay, let's see."
Lieta: "Can I make a phone call?"
Professor: "Yes." He carefully examined the blueprint, "Ah, it's wonderful, it's not bad. However, that one can't... It can't be like that... Because this wall connects the two main walls, it can't..."
Lieta couldn't get through the phone.
Lieta: "What's going on?" She looked at the phone's connection line, "The phone was cut off, you know?"
The professor suddenly realized: "Oh, yes, I almost forgot, it was cut off last night."
The girl connected the phone line and started dialing the phone number... The call connected: "Jenny? Hello?"
At this time, the two groups of conversations are going on at the same time. Rieta calls; Stefano talks to the professor.
Professor: "As I said, this wall cannot be knocked down."
Lieta called: "I know you want to go to St. Maurice."
Stefano: "However, you overlooked one point, you see, we're going to put the bathroom in this triangle..."
Lieta called: "Jenny, don't be naive! You fool! Who doesn't know Conrad is a dude!" He smiled mysteriously at her fiancé, "Stefano, he's not doing well these days. Sample!"
Professor: "Okay, that's okay..."
Suddenly, Conrad stood in front of her. Maybe she was afraid that he would hear the last few words, so she hurriedly dropped the phone and ran over to hug him while shouting.
Lieta: "Honey, what brought you here? We're looking for you. Where did you spend last night?"
Conrad: "It's right here. I also enjoyed the music."
Lieta was surprised: "Here? Mommy is back, you know? Did you fight?"
Conrad said calmly, "I dumped her."
Rieta: "She's hysterical again... She came on a night flight."
Conrad didn't seem to want to talk about this topic anymore, and turned to the professor: "I found my friend, and I brought you that photo."
He handed the professor an envelope. The professor opened the envelope and it was a black and white photo. He focused his eyes and examined it carefully.
Professor: "It's really interesting." He said to Stefano, "We'll talk about it later." The professor took out a magnifying glass and looked at the photo, "It's really interesting."
Conrad: "It is not easy to evaluate a painting through a photo, because the image is not the main point, the key is the technique of painting. You can see these trees, they have the charm of ancient paintings."
Professor: "Not bad at all. Did you study art history?"
Conrad: "Studied a little bit in college."
Professor: "Why not continue studying?"
Conrad: "1968 was a turbulent year. I participated in the student movement at the university with enthusiasm and went through all kinds of hardships. But I got rid of it in the end." There was a mocking smile on his face. "Ah丨How did I get mixed up with those people!”
The professor was very interested and looked at the photo in his hand carefully.
The professor pointed to the photo: "No doubt, it's a blessing to have it. The strange thing is that I didn't think of it before. You must know that of all my Tibetan paintings, this one is the only one with the most historical materials. Come with me. , I'll show it to you."
Conrad followed the professor to a collection cabinet. Over there, Stefano accompanies Rieta on the phone.
Lieta called: "Mom, did you hear me? Conrad is here."
Bianca reacted strongly on the phone.
She hung up the phone and walked towards Conrad. He was admiring the Tibetan paintings that the professor gave him.
Conrad said to the professor: "You see, these two buildings are exactly the same."
Professor: "Really, it was unexpected."
Lieta sighed. "I told Mom you weren't angry, but she was furious. Give her a call!"
Conrad: "I blew with her long ago!"
Lieta said angrily, "You said just now that you didn't quarrel!"
Conrad: "I told you, I blew with her!"
Lieta: "Do you think that she will buy you this suite?"
Conrad: "She thought so, but I said no."
Lieta: "Then you are at a loss."
The professor couldn't put it down: "Look, even such details are exactly the same..."
Lieta said coquettishly, "Don't do this, think of a way! I don't want to see her sad." Then, she turned to the professor, "Professor, if you persuade him, he will listen to you."
Professor: "No, please don't do this..."
Conrad: "I need air -- fresh air."
Stefano: "It's all your fault. If you want to breathe new air, you should go to Jenny. I've already told Lieta..."
Rieta interrupted him: "Mind your business!" Turning to Conrad, "Where are you going?"
Conrad: "Go to Fiumicino to see him."
Lieta said excitedly: "It's wonderful, I'll go too! I can go swimming, how beautiful!" To the professor, "Over there, we have a friend who has a beautiful boat. Conrad, you How clever! Let's go now!" Turning to Stefano, "Are you staying here?"
Stefano denied: "Why?"
Lieta: "Watch the house! If mom needs someone..."
Stefano: "Can't you just call your mom?"
Conrad: "If you want to go with me, hurry up." To the professor, "Professor, keep this picture. Whenever you want to see that painting, just tell me." To the other Man, "Let's go!"
Lieta: "Let's go to the bar downstairs for some sandwich bread, I'm starving to death!"
Conrad: "It's too late, it's not waiting for you."
Lieta: "Really, my stomach hurts. Professor, can you give me a small loaf of bread? A little will do. Conrad, please wait, two seconds!"
The professor called: "Erminia! Erminia!"
The Professor's Pantry and Kitchen Daytime
The expansive pantry is lined with outer rows of shelves with multi-tiered shelves. The shelves are filled with all kinds of food: ham, sausage, cheese, and a variety of bottled drinks.
Rieta was stunned by the abundance of food.
Rieta: "Oh!" she exclaimed. "Stefano, Conrad, come and see! There are many treasures hidden here."
Conrad and Stefano walked away.
Conrad to Stefano: "Better go in your car, maybe I'll stay in Fiumicino and not come back."
Stefano: "Really want to dump Bianca?"
Conrad: "Yes, I want to live freely. Besides, I have some things to do over there."
They came to the kitchen and tasted the sausage and cheese prepared for them by the professor. The maid cut bread for them.
Doorbell rang.
Conrad had a premonition of what was about to happen: "I'm leaving. Professor, do whatever you want." The doorbell continued to ring arrogantly. Conrad went through the ironing room next door and went out to open the door.
The makeshift banquet in the kitchen is still going on.
The doorbell was still ringing, and the professor was about to open the door himself.
Corridor and Foyer of the Suite Daytime
The professor came to the hall and saw Conrad and Bianca kissing passionately at the door. He stared blankly at the pair in front of him: they first kissed, then scolded.
Bianca: "You poor boy! He didn't want to rent me an apartment, but he couldn't help being persuaded by me! He didn't agree to demolish bricks and tiles in the house, and we worked hard! We almost persuaded him to take the house Sold it to me! But, all the good things are messed up by you smart guy! It's all for you! You bitch, you made me lose my self-esteem, and I can't spare you!"
She wrenched Conrad's hand away.
Conrad grabbed her and said, "Come here!"
Bianca: "Hate! Let me go, let me go! We've blown! Let me go!"
Conrad: "I don't take the house seriously at all! Don't you think you can control me with this poor little favor and clumsy deception."
Bianca: "You pinch me!" He put his arms around her roughly and kissed her frantically on the neck. She resisted and resisted, "Let go of me! Crazy! Let go of me!"
He carried on kissing her neck, shoulders, and face, and when he finally got to the lips, the fight was over.
The professor stood in the shadows, staring embarrassedly at everything in front of him. Then he turned and walked towards the kitchen.
Professor's Kitchen Daytime
When the professor returned to the kitchen, Lieta was walking towards him smilingly.
Lieta: "Professor, come with us to Fiumicino, and we will be back in the afternoon. Let Erminia cook the meat for us in the evening, and at the same time, we can discuss the upstairs suite project in detail. ."
When she saw someone coming in, she immediately stopped talking. The professor turned to look, and Bianca walked in, accompanied by Conrad. There was no doubt that she had heard all of Lieta's words.
Stefano greets: "Hello, Bianca!"
Bianca: "Besides stewing meat, what else do you do?"
Stefano: "Braised meat and artichoke cream."
Bianca: "Fantastic!"
Conrad said arbitrarily: "Okay, let's go!"
Bianca agrees: "Where are you going, baby?"
From the tone of the conversation between the two, it could be concluded that Conrad had the upper hand in the quarrel.
Rieta: "Conrad took us to Fiumicino to see Popi, and the professor went too. The mountain wind is cool over there." Turning to the professor, "Do you want to see the sea? We can see it soon. ."
Professor: "The sea is always beautiful...the color changes endlessly..."
Conrad poured a glass of wine: "The waves are turbulent and moody... I still don't understand how the Greek artists at that time could concentrate on creating so many miracles in the face of such a tempting spectacle."
Lieta: "Are you sure you will come with us?"
The professor suddenly changed his mind: "Don't think like that."
Stefano: "Why do you have to drag him? He doesn't like entertainment and prefers to be alone."
Bianca: "Professor, seriously, do you have any privacy? You must have been a handsome man when you were young, and you still have the same demeanor. As soon as I saw you, I fascinated you. Tell me I...why do you want to live like this?"
The professor hesitated for a moment: "In life, for the sake of my career, I have to think about others, worry about others, and be distracted by others..." He smiled mockingly, "Someone wrote: 'Crows flock together, eagles walk alone. '"
Stefano: "Let's go, 'Crows' fly!"
Lieta: "Professor, see you at dinner then!"
Professor: "—It's agreed, I'll be waiting for you at nine o'clock."
Bianca: "Goodbye."
Suddenly, Conrad stunned everyone by quoting a famous literary quote.
Conrad told the professor: "The Bible says this: 'Hey, you poor loner, no one is willing to help you when you fall.'"
Bianca in a tone of admiration and mockery at the same time: "Conrad! The Bible!"
She smiled and left her lover's arms. The crowd dispersed, leaving only the professor, Erminia, and another young maid in the spacious kitchen. The professor looked melancholy and instructed: "Erminia, pack up these things."
Professor's Kitchen Night
The professor sat alone at the well-decorated dining table, with a look of impatience on his face. The maid Erminia walked in and out, watching the movement at the door uneasily.
Erminia: "I think they forgot. If they really wanted to eat dinner here, they wouldn't have delayed so late... They're all cultured people..."
The professor retorted: "They're uneducated! They're empty, stupid, and incompetent! I can't wait a minute, I'm going to have dinner."
Construction Loft Daytime
Another day, the workers shuttled through the suites. The project is progressing significantly. The foreman of the foreman walked over to the professor who had come to inspect.
Foreman: "Please take a look at these samples."
He showed the professor all kinds of beautiful little tiles. For viewing convenience, the tiles are inlaid on a wooden panel.
The professor looked puzzled: "What sample?"
Foreman: "The house is yours, it must be done according to your wishes."
The professor picked up a small piece of porcelain that was about to be scattered for a while, and then turned to look at the complete set of samples.
Professor: "Okay...I'll take a look at...the kitchen...I think it's better like this."
Foreman: "Yes, this color is very beautiful."
Professor: "This color is very beautiful, let's use this color for the walls too."
Bedroom, Office and Balcony · Night
The professor was lying on the large and soft sofa reading a book. Suddenly, there was a sound from the shutters, followed by another. The voice aroused the professor's curiosity.
Rieta's voice (voiceover): "Professor! Professor! Open the door for us, we have to give you something."
The professor put down the book, looking horrified.
Stefano's voiceover: "We won't go in, you just need to open the door."
The professor got up, put on a casual casual clothes, and walked to the front hall.
The Professor's Suite and Foyer · Night
The professor came to the front hall, and as soon as he opened the door to the landing, Lieta appeared in front of him. She was in high spirits, as if she had just returned from vacation.
Lieta: "Professor, hello! We'll bring you a souvenir and put it in the living room."
Conrad walked in with Stefano. The latter carried a bulging thing wrapped in dark cloth.
Conrad: "Professor, is my blanket here with you?"
Professor: "What?" recalls, "Oh, oh, yes, here...and where you put it."
It turned out that the young man had brought a birdcage made of rush, which contained a large black bird. Big Bird repeated one sentence: "Thank you, old man!"
Lieta pointed to the big bird: "It's called Simona."
Conrad quipped: "It doesn't say anything else, and it never will."
Lieta: "That's why I brought it to you."
The professor looked at the big bird with fear on his face.
Professor: "My family has never kept animals, they should belong to nature and should be free."
The island kept repeating the only words it could say.
Conrad quipped: "If it's annoying, you send it upstairs and I'll break its neck."
Rieta: "You didn't come with us, it was a mistake."
The big bird kept calling.
Stefano: "Ignore it, Professor."
The professor said to Stefano: "Hey, I have to talk to you... The project upstairs can't be done... You should come back to see me that night. It's been over a month now..."
Conrad's voice: "Hey, come and see!"
Office cum study room and bedroom night
In the suffocating library, Conrad was standing in front of an open door that was so cleverly disguised that it took up one wall of the room.
Conrad: "I found the room where the skeleton is placed!"
People heard it. The interior is unobstructed.
Stefano looked in surprise: "That's good!"
Conrad: "Not bad? It's amazing!"
People poured into the room, only to see the elegant furnishings. A small hidden door leads to a beautiful bathroom.
Conrad said to the professor: "It was like this, or did you make it look like this?"
Professor: "It turns out to be like this, an ordinary room. However, it can play a role in the war."
Rieta's interest disappeared in an instant: "Stefano, let's go."
Professor: "My mother is Italian. She lived here when the war broke out. She built this little secret room to cover a lot of political exiles, partisans and Jews... But I know exactly what happened to her at the time. Not much. She died before the war was over... I was in America at the time. Later, I went back to Italy with the Fifth Route Army. I've lived here ever since."
Lieta: "Professor, we should go."
Stefano: "Conrad, what are you doing?"
Conrad went back to the library again: "Go get my blanket."
People left the study one after another and passed through the front hall.
Lieta smiled: "I'm so disappointed, I thought Simona would please you."
The professor smiled kindly: "Who knows when it will please me?"
Big Bird repeated what it could only say.
Conrad retrieved the blanket. Lieta and her boyfriend were already waiting at the door.
Conrad: "Good night, Professor."
Professor's Bedroom and Stairs Night
After seeing off the guests, the professor closed the door, put on his glasses again, and picked up the thick green book. Suddenly, another elusive sound came from upstairs. He got up and put on his nightgown, walked to the door, listened carefully, and gently pushed the door open. At this time, it seemed that someone could be heard tiptoeing down the stairs.
The professor opened the door and stuck his head out: "Who is it?...Stop!"
I saw two vague figures passing by and disappearing into the darkness. The professor had a premonition of the seriousness of the matter, and hurried up the escalator, only to see Conrad lying at the door of the landing.
The professor saw Conrad's face covered in blood: "My God! What's going on? I'm going to call the police!"
Conrad stopped soberly: "No, don't scream! Go and do your own business... Just help me upstairs."
The professor propped up his arms and slowly helped him up. He should have taken him back to the attic, but he helped him downstairs to his room.
The Professor's Suite, Secret Bedroom Night
The professor dragged the heavy Conrad into his secret bedroom. Conrad groaned in pain.
After Conrad helped him to the bed, he vaguely saw the professor leaning over to take off his clothes and wash his wounds.
Professor: "Don't move, you need to be quiet now..."
Conrad: "Where am I?"
Professor: "My home. You've been in a coma twice, and now you're much better... I'll be right back, don't move."
The professor went to the adjacent bathroom to get a wet towel. Conrad, in briefs and a short-sleeved shirt, struggled out of bed. He came to a mirror and looked at the marks on his face after the fight with tears in his eyes. He was furious and cursed incessantly.
Professor: "Go to bed and lie down!"
The professor helped him onto the bed, covered him with the sheets, and put a damp towel on the red and swollen part of his face. Then the professor sat down beside the bed, staring intently at Conrad.
Professor: "Do you know the person who hit you?"
Conrad was perplexed: "I... don't know."
Professor: "You insisted on not letting me call the police. You must know those two guys. You quarreled... right?"
Conrad was upset, he sat up suddenly, made a gesture and said, "Please wait!"
Professor: "I have an obligation to help you. I'll call the police."
Conrad: "You don't have to take any obligations. I don't want to deal with the police either! ... They sure can't find these bastards, and even if they report the case, they don't want to bother about it! Every day homicides That's enough for them to do their job, plus all the thefts, rapes, strikes, marches..."
Professor: "That's it!"
Conrad: "What can I offer the police department? The police department never cares about this kind of thing...better leave it alone." Suddenly, he thought of something, "But what about my blood? Lou? There will be blood on it and it has to be wiped off. I should have…”
Professor: "Okay, be quiet. I'll wipe it tomorrow."
Conrad: "Don't let outsiders know about this. You let me go, those workers tomorrow morning..."
The professor reassured him: "Okay, you stay here, don't move. I'll clean up. You have to follow my advice and you must find a doctor."
Conrad: "For Christ's sake, don't go to the doctor!"
Professor: "Then your situation will get worse..."
Conrad: "I don't want others to get involved in this!"
The professor gave in: "Okay, I agree."
Conrad: "Professor... Can I stay with you tonight? If I go back up... I'm a little scared."
Professor: "Of course you can."
Conrad: "Thank you."
The professor got up and prepared to go out: "I'll be right back."
Conrad cursed: "It's better to have someone kill you if you get hit in the face!" He sobbed weakly and indignantly, "I can't defend myself, others will laugh at me... I must teach these bastards a good lesson. !"
Seeing that he couldn't control his impulsiveness, the professor asked with concern, "Can I get you a sedative?"
Conrad: "No, I never take that fun."
The professor went out and closed the door.
stairs night
From the study that led to the secret bedroom, there was a sound that broke the silence of the night.
Conrad knocked inside and shouted, "Professor! Open the door!"
The professor carried the bucket and pushed open the door, only to see Conrad standing at the door with a blank face.
Conrad: "Why lock me up?"
Professor: "Erminia gets up early to clean up."
Conrad calmed down a lot: "I'm sorry, my nerves are gone! I'm just a coward. Have you never been afraid?"
The professor looked at Conrad kindly, like an elderly father facing his babbling young son.
Professor: "Of course I was scared, boy. It was a time of war. But what scares me even more is that I gave up my career and didn't know how to start a new life..."
Conrad: "Your occupation?"
Professor: "I used to be engaged in scientific research."
Conrad: "I saw at first sight that you were a scientist."
Professor: "That's in the past..."
Conrad: "In the past?"
Professor: "The value of progress is destruction. I recognize that modern science is not only incapable of being neutral, but also serving practical theory, evolving a form of craft freedom into a form of subordination. In today's social practice, the application of science... …”
Conrad's breathing was soothing and steady. As the professor gushed about his social theory, Conrad had already fallen asleep. The professor found that he was fast asleep, gently covered him with the quilt, and held him back for a while before opening the door and leaving.
The Secret Bedroom of the Professor's House Night
The camera pans past several walls, which are hung with paintings in antique frames.
Professor's study
Doorbell rang. Erminia went to open the door.
Bianca walked in and said to herself, "Is the professor with the children?"
Erminia: "No."
Bianca: "Did they come last night?"
The big black bird in the living room kept calling.
Bianca: "Shut up, nasty thing!" Turning to Erminia, "Can I make a phone call?"
Erminia: "I'll get it for you right away."
Erminia went to the study to look for the phone. She was taken aback when she found the professor curled up on the sofa under the sheets.
Erminia: "Professor...Professor, I...I'm here to get the phone. The lady upstairs is here, waiting for you...Did you stay here for the night?"
Professor: "Oh, no, no...I...was awake a long time ago, came to do some work...and then fell back asleep for some reason."
Erminia: "I'll prepare breakfast for you right away."
Professor: "Okay, please bring it here early."
Erminia unplugged, took the phone, and installed it on the power strip in the small living room next door.
Erminia said to Bianca, who was waiting in the front room, "Ma'am, the phone is in the small living room."
Bianca: "Thank you." Pointing to the big bird, "I thought it starved to death." She went to the small living room, "Erminia, please prepare me a cup of coffee?"
Bianca started to call: "Hello! I'm Bianca..."
Suddenly, she noticed that someone was walking in the front hall. She stopped speaking and listened carefully.
Rixie (voice-over): "Good morning, Elminia, I'm here to see Mrs. Blumondi...Master Stefano is looking for her, is she here, or is she upstairs?"
ERMINIA (Voiceover): "Come in, my wife is on the phone in the living room."
Bianca yelled at the people: "Rixie, I'm in the living room, come on!"
Rixie came to the little drawing room and said, "Mrs. Good morning. Master Stefano is waiting for you outside."
Bianca: "Please tell him I'm going right now, and let him hurry up and feed the big bird."
Bianca continued to call: "Hey... I'm sorry to keep you waiting. Let's make an agreement. Come to my house after the opera at one o'clock on Friday."
Rixie went back to the front room.
Rixie: "Erminia, please tell the professor that all the materials needed to make the wall cover are ready. Now is my time. Goodbye."
In fact, the professor heard it clearly from the next door. As his facial expressions changed, his thoughts extended to another era: still this small living room, but with a more pleasing appearance, brighter tones, and a fragment of his childhood came to mind.
The Small Living Room Night in the Professor's Memories
The doorbell rang incessantly, followed by hurried footsteps. People flocked to the door to greet the long-awaited guests. The maid Louisa took the lead, followed by the other waiters.
Louisa: "It's all here! Daniel, hurry up!"
The chatter of the waiters rose and fell.
It turned out that the owner had returned from a trip. A young woman, wearing a dress popular in the 1920s, wears a broad-brimmed hat with a sandy face. A small child (a childhood professor) stood beside her.
The maid pointed to the little boy: "Ma'am, our little American is back. How much he looks like you!"
The little boy stood silently, disturbed by such a lively scene.
The professor's mother said to the little boy: "Speak up, come on, say hello to Luisa! You don't like my home?"
Maid: "Look, he's smiling at Mommy!" To the young woman, "He's very timid, ma'am."
Teaching aid's office and study, daytime
The professor sits on the sofa and meditates. The door opened, and Erminia walked in with a tray in hand to deliver breakfast.
The professor glanced at her: "Put it on the table."
Erminia put down the tray: "Mrs. Blumondi wants me a—a cup of coffee, will you?"
Professor: "Of course you can."
As soon as the maid left, the professor took the tray and walked to the library. He pushed open the door, turned on the light, and saw Conrad sleeping soundly. He put down his breakfast and tiptoed out of the room.
The Professor's Studio · Dusk
The studio is filled with all kinds of painting tools. A middle-aged man is restoring an ancient painting hanging on an easel, and the soft light floods the picture through the glass window.
The professor was attentively examining the work of the painter with a magnifying glass. Suddenly, there were bursts of spray from the bathroom of the secret bedroom next door. He put down what was in his hand, wiped his hands, and followed the sound.
From the door of the bathroom, a well-proportioned young man could be seen standing under the sprinkler, rinsing his body with soap. He suddenly found the professor standing at the door.
Conrad condemned himself: "I slept for sixteen hours in a row, why didn't you wake me up?"
The professor said gently: "You need sleep. When I came this morning, Mrs. Bloomundi was already here."
Conrad was surprised: "Did she ask me?"
Professor: "No. She just made a phone call and then called Erminia upstairs and worked all day."
Conrad turned off the faucet and came out wearing a white bath towel. Standing in front of a mirror, he measured the clearly visible scars on his face. After that, he turned around and walked to the secret bedroom. The professor picked up a glass of orange juice from the tray and handed it to him.
Professor's study and office night
After Conrad decided that Erminia had returned to her room to rest, she put on a bath towel and quietly walked into the professor's study.
Conrad approached the professor: "Professor, I confess to you that I deceived you today. I know who beat me and why."
Professor: "I never doubted it."
Conrad: "You can ask me for all kinds of explanations."
Professor: "No explanation needed, I'm not a curious person."
Conrad: "Would you like me to leave sooner?"
Professor: "In a sense it does."
Conrad: "Okay, thank you for your help. I know you don't want to escalate and complicate matters."
Professor: "I'm a person who is used to being alone, so... no matter what happens at home, it will upset me and hinder my life."
Conrad: "If I can leave tonight...two more calls at most."
Professor: "As you wish."
After a moment of silence, Conrad said confidently: "Do you remember what I said? My studies...that's the truth. In order to get rid of some troublesome things, I ended up getting entangled in other annoying things. Alas!" Excitedly, "The people I trusted in the past are worthless. I think... I should tell you everything and hope to get your advice."
The professor said nonchalantly, "You don't need any advice. At your age and so smart, you know how to behave."
Conrad was greatly disappointed: "Just take it as soon as you see it, right? Of course... it's easy to say."
Conrad, recognizing the indifference of the professor, turned away embarrassedly.
Professor: "If Erminia is asleep, I can get you something to eat. It's time for me to go to bed now."
Professor's Bedroom Night
The bedroom lights are soft and bright, with melodic tunes coming from the radio on the bedside table. The professor lay in bed, lost in thought, and the scene of his old life reappeared in front of his eyes...
A beautiful young woman is crying. She is the professor's wife. She was gorgeously dressed and had the most fashionable hairstyle of the 1940s. She lifted the veil gently, revealing a handsome face. This is a typical brown skinned southern beauty, delicate and sexy. She put the veil on the table beside her, and sat down in an easy chair by the fire, where the coals were burning brightly. Her voice is sweet and moving.
Professor's wife: "I want to tell you everything, but you have to tell me if it's my fault. Trust me, only you can give me strength." She sobbed.
The professor's memory was blurred. In the background, Mozart's music continued to reverberate. He tossed and turned in bed, struggling to fall asleep. Suddenly, when he heard the singing, he turned off the radio and listened carefully—there was someone singing next door to a record or tape. He rolled over to the ground, put on his pajamas, and followed the sound. He stood in the doorway, looking confusedly into the small living room - the fire lit up the room, and several figures swayed back and forth in the darkness. Although the faces of these people could not be seen clearly, there was no doubt that they were naked.
Conrad and Rieta dance to a mellow tune. The professor shook his head embarrassedly. However, he wasn't shocked because it was expected. He continued to watch and saw that after the two of them sat down, she sat on his lap and shared a cigarette. He kisses, touches her naked body... The other naked man is Stefano. After a while, Rieta fell into Stefano's arms again, and they kissed and hugged wildly...
With the lights dimmed, the professor couldn't see what the hell they were up to. A figure could vaguely pick up something from the ground, like a shirt, and threw it into the air. When the man was about to raise his hand to grab it, he was already caught by another man who jumped up from the sofa.
Stefano: "I finally found the shirt."
Lieta watched the battle, giggling with laughter.
Lieta: "And here's a leather shoe..."
Conrad excitedly said, "That's mine..."
Rieta grabbed a shirt and threw it at Conrad, right on top of his head. Conrad threw his shirt onto the sofa, a cigarette in his hand, and walked towards Rieta. He asked Stefano, "Can you borrow a fire?"
In an instant, the flame of the lighter illuminated the faces of Sfano and Conrad. However, soon the room returned to its original darkness. In the gloom, Conrad put his arms around Rieta, stroking softly. The three were unrestrained, and it was not difficult to see that this kind of messy life had long been accustomed to them.
Suddenly, Lieta noticed movement. It turned out that the professor was about to turn away when he accidentally made a noise.
Lieta turned on the light and said to the professor, "Did we wake you up?"
Rieta and his two companions were not at all embarrassed by the professor's sudden appearance and their naked bodies. They dressed casually while chatting.
Rieta approached the professor and said softly, "I'm so sorry."
The teacher was still in shock and did not answer.
Stefano to Conrad: "We brought your car and luggage, you can finally go to Morocco..."
Conrad to the professor: "As soon as you see it..."
Lieta: "What did you say?"
Conrad: "The professor thinks I should change my lifestyle."
The three were dressed.
Stefano smiled happily: "Forget it! I think the professor is too lenient!"
Lieta rushed to the professor and smiled coquettishly: "Poor professor, you haven't woken up yet... Let's go now... This is just a game, nothing wrong. To be honest, you also came here when you were young, You weren't like us back then?"
The professor looked very serious: "No, it's definitely not the same."
Lieta: "What a pity that your years have passed, but you were happy in other ways. You were rich and beautiful in the past... What have you done?"
Professor: "I went to school, traveled...and went through war...I was married, but not happy. Later, when I had time to look at the world, I fell into...because of people I didn't understand. middle."
He opened his arms and made a helpless gesture.
Stefano: "Let's talk, Professor."
Conrad: "You're right. But you can't forget that if society itself is like this, then..."
Rieta chimed in: "Shut up, Conrad. I want to know everything about the professor: his private life, his past and present."
The professor looked sad: "Now? Now I'm an old man..."
Lieta: "Professor, don't say that! You should believe in your own charm." She moved closer to the professor. "What would you do if I wanted to kiss you?"
Professor: "I wouldn't be tempted at all. Because if I were you, I saw a man who couldn't get older..."
Rieta really came up and kissed the professor's lips. The professor's expression was somber. Conrad was displeased.
Conrad: "Enough, fool!"
Lieta: "What's the matter! I'm serious. I like him, and if he proposes to me, I'll marry him."
Professor: "I'm not going to propose to you... Do you take me for a clown? Make me one of those betrayed, fooled old men? The only love story that suits me is that of King Lear, a Stories of fathers and their children."
Stefano said meanly: "You have taken good care of you in this regard. You have neither children nor daughters, let alone any tragedy."
Lieta: "I think the professor can be a kind father." Turning to the professor, "If one of these two guys got me pregnant, what do you think I would do? I can't spare him, I will He handed it over to you."
Professor: "Life is not long for me. I wish I had a son and taught him everything I know."
Lieta suddenly had an idea: "Why don't you adopt Conrad? He is smart and beautiful... He doesn't have to worry about making a few bucks any more..." Instead, he persuaded Conrad, "You just let him Adopt you!" She turned to the professor again, "Professor, I advise you to spend a little more at first, tonight you have to give him five million..." She mocked, "Poor Conrad owes him money in the underground casino. Account, those people beat him so badly..."
Stefano: "But, you said you could get the five million upstairs." Professor Steering explained, "because it's always paid by Bianca anyway."
Conrad smiled. "Gambling debt is nothing. But it's more than that! If I'm going to Morocco tomorrow afternoon, it's time for me to say goodbye."
The three left the room, and the professor accompanied them to the door.
Lieta: "How about we go together, Conrad?"
Conrad: "Then you move faster..."
Lieta: "Did you convince him to adopt you?"
Conrad: "Not yet. It's not going to be easy."
Lieta raised her voice teasingly: "Professor, tell your son not to mess around! If it doesn't work, he'll be finished!"
Conrad: "Professor, will you attend my funeral?"
Lieta: "If so, you are the most respectable person at the funeral."
Stefano: "The prostitutes in Rome all wear black. It was a special widow parade, haha..."
The young man went downstairs talking and laughing, leaving the professor alone. He was lost in thought, a musty gloomy look in his eyes.
The next day, as the professor was out across the landing to take the elevator, three men stepped forward to block his way. One of them was the janitor, and the other two strangers had serious expressions.
The janitor walked towards the professor respectfully: "Two gentlemen are looking for you."
Professor: "I'm not dating anyone."
The janitor lowered his voice: "They belong to the police department."
Professor: "Police?"
The two policemen realized that the visitor was exactly what they were looking for, so they tactfully blocked the road.
The sergeant said kindly: "Professor, please allow me to delay your time a little bit, okay? I'm Sergeant Bernard, from the police station. If it's convenient, please talk to us about the situation."
Professor: "I'm going to run errands now, and..."
Officer: "It's not long, we just want to ask Mr. Conrad Uubert, does he live in your house?"
Professor: "Absolutely nothing."
Officer: "You don't know him?"
Professor: "As I said, he doesn't live in my house. What else are you doing?"
Officer: "I'm sorry! You at least know him, right?"
Professor: "Yes, we met. He was a guest of one of my lodgers."
Although the professor was displeased, he still responded to the police's questions. The po
