The Old School charm of sci-fi is enduring.

This isn't my favorite sci-fi drama I've ever seen, but it's one of the most memorable. It is different from Black Mirror's short and shrewdness. The House of Mysteries is a treasure stumbled upon in a leisurely and boring moment. It is not a product of the zeitgeist of hunting for curiosity and seeking stimulation of the five senses, but has a unique charm of Old School.

Speaking of shortcomings, the male protagonist's expression after losing his daughter does not show grief and anger, but seems to be playing handsome all the time, which is a little dramatic. But he does have an American tough guy and handsome, and the little girl is as cute as a little angel. In addition, the aura of the male protagonist is still a bit strong, but after all, there is only room for three episodes, and this is a work from 12 years ago, so it can be forgiven.

Although it's only a mini-series, the number "more than 100 objects" surprised me when it first appeared. Just a few objects clearly pointed out in the play are enough to play. It's a pity that there is no first The launch of the second season.

An interesting point is that in the past five years, sci-fi film and television works have always had to pick up a bunch of terms, and then use some metaphors to "explain" these terms, and can't wait to show the theoretical origin of "(hard) sci-fi".

But Mystery House doesn't explain the Objects and other settings at all, but it is enough for audiences familiar with sci-fi movies to reason and interpret by themselves. For those who don't understand, it is a bit fanciful, but for sci-fi fans, this is a true sci-fi drama that can be savored.

The inner score is 4/5, but I really regret that it has come to an abrupt end, and I think about when the country can reach this level. Playing with special effects, playing with extremes, and playing with curiosity does not mean that these are not sci-fi, but in my opinion, the most primitive charm of sci-fi is that it is a magnificent fantasy based on reality, which is not completely divorced from reality and can be imagined. The Objects in the Mystery House are all ordinary objects around them. This setting is far better than the tough Special things, Strange things in contemporary sci-fi dramas, or the mutation caused by the accident, or the treasure inherited from ancient times; the land of science fiction It is Reality, which only makes the audience feel "convinced" at the beginning, and the subsequent fantasy has contrasting surprises.
