The first Ken Follett TV series I watched, because none of the others I've seen have been made into a movie or TV series. It has become a habit to want to watch a movie every time you read a book, because the scenes and characters in the book cannot be imagined, and the movie is clear.
Talking about the experience of watching it, the actor William seems too immature to show that he is as evil as written in the book. His mother, Regan, is not as ugly as it is written in the book, and the writing about his family is too messy. For example, Regan killed her husband, and then Regan was killed by her son. And her mother's somewhat incestuous love for him. William himself did not kill or rape as in the books.
Philip in the TV series is not as skinny and handsome as he is in the book. Richard is not as idle and obnoxious as he is in the books, and he loves his sister Alena more on TV. Jonathan is really cute and chubby and told his dad Tom to call me brother Jonathan. Haha.
The church is very beautiful and atmospheric, and I learned some English words related to the church and monks. It's nice to have a map and text hints every time you change locations.
