It's habitual to turn on the air conditioner and eat a popsicle to activate the comfortable summer mode. At this time, a dying coral reef in the South Pacific is trying to emit a dazzling fluorescent color to protect itself from being killed by the warm waters. The fact is that this problem will not be solved immediately before they die. It has been 3 months since I returned from Fiji, and I saw the movie "chasing choral" by chance, and I burst into tears.
This is the Fiji we yearn for, and the corals are still alive.
This is the coral I saw, taken in March 2018 without any retouching.
In Fiji, I saw unhealthy corals, a large number of corals bleached and even died. The bones and carrion of the dead corals were covered with algae like corpses. There were not many fish in the turbid sea water. Melting is a strange silence. Shock, anger, sadness, feeling deceived, and hating my own hindsight.
Travel seems to be a choice, choosing to find beauty, see beauty, and praise beauty and exaggerate beauty. The snorkeling hall and the top marine experience are the labels of Fiji, all of which make the "unbeautiful" in front of you into a surreal existence.
Accidentally stepped on two or three corals, the thick sunscreen melted in the sea, took a dip and bought a bunch of coral crafts... There are always better things to do than these, but We don't know yet.
Thinking of what a mother wrote to her son I recently read, "When I watched you go to the Ivy League, I hoped that you will have a better life in the future, but in the end, you want a better world. I didn't keep up with you. Grow up." Finally, the boy insisted on volunteering in West Africa, where the cholera outbreak was occurring. At present, I probably don't have the courage of this boy, but the little things I can do, even a little bit, will comfort me today and affect the world in the future.
