Sense8 is finally over. Although the rhythm of the show has been forcibly accelerated since the end of the second season, and many of the previous clues have not been followed, Sense8 is still one of the best American dramas in my heart. More importantly, the thoughts, insights and attitudes towards life in this drama once made the young me very envious. It allowed me to see a new world that I had never seen before. It was this drama that made me start. Knowing about the LGBTQ community is what made me a fan of liberalism, and in life, there are always some difficult moments when I think of certain lines in the show and gain strength from them inexplicably.
I only record 16 of my favorite lines in this article. The judging criteria are completely subjective. I hope this excellent American drama can impress more people. High Spoiler Alert!
No.16 S02E02
Lito: This is what you always wanted.
This is what you've always wanted.
Hernando: Why do I have this little voice inside my head saying: Be careful what you wish for?
Why is a little voice in my head saying, "Wish with caution"?
Start with a lighthearted joke. Here Lito is trying to convince Hernando to go with him to the movie premiere, and it turns out that Hernando's concerns are justified.
The phrase "careful what you wish for" appears at least twice in the play, and the other time is when Nomi teased that her mother once lamented why she couldn't be like her sister, and then Nomi went against her mother's wishes and became a transgender Operation. I personally think Sense8's lines are very, very well designed, one of the reasons is that a line always has multiple meanings and appears in multiple lines, so that there is more connection between the characters.
Hernando has contributed a lot of wonderful things about love, art and courage in this show, such as I love all kinds of art. Art, like love, must always be free. Of course, he has more cute humorous complaints. This sentence is just an example.
No.15 Ending Special
Nomi: I've been staring at this screen so long even my glasses are sore.
I've been staring at this screen for so long that my glasses are sore.
In fact, the filming of the special chapter was not very good. The content of 12 episodes was forcibly compressed into 2.5 hours or about 3 episodes. Those touching arcs of characters and reasoning based on details can only be sacrificed. , the wonderful multi-line editing is gone, all the characters in all lines are roughly gathered together, rushing to a happy ending of reunion. So much so that after watching the special chapter, my favorite line turned out to be Nomi's rant, and I felt the same way when I finished a season of Sense8 in one breath!
In addition, I want to mention that "She is your sister!" in the ending special chapter is also a very exciting line. There were many speculations about why Wolfgang killed his father, but the screenwriter finally gave us an unexpected but the most reasonable explanation. The many foreshadowings of the grass snake gray line in the first two seasons made us completely understand the character of Wolfgang in an instant. We understood why he urinated on his father's grave in the first place, and understood his memories of going to the zoo with his mother. I understand why he's a complete pessimist, and why he's so cold-blooded. The main reason I didn't list this line is that such a wonderful answer could have been presented in a better way, and we could have seen a wonderful multi-line clip linking the past to reality. And now the simple and rude way of giving the answer in flashbacks has lost a lot of strength to this sentence, far less than the way the answer was revealed in "Chinatown". (Sorry for spoiling Chinatown again)
No.14 S01E08
Wolfgang: He's my brother. And not by something as accidental as blood, by something much stronger.
He's my brother, we're not randomly linked by blood, we have a stronger bond.
Kala: What?
what is it?
Wolfgang: By choice.
choose.
That's what Wolfgang said by the bedside after Felix was shot. Everyone who has really like-minded and close friends will find resonance in the phrase "family by choice". And those with unhappy families of origin would agree with Wolfgang's words, and sometimes their choices will create a stronger bond than blood ties.
Later episodes we saw how far Wolfgang was willing to go for his friends, the fraternity between him and Felix was the best in the show, better than Will and his sidekick Diego, Capheus and his little sidekicks. The relationship in the past was good.
In addition, I want to explain that I personally like the young couple Wolfgang and Kala the most in the whole play, and I may choose a few more lines from them.
No.13 Christmas Special
Wolfgang: Happy fucking New Year.
Happy New Year XX.
And here we go, another Wolfie line. I remember when I was waiting for the second season update, I watched the Christmas special back and forth several times. Every time I saw the end of the shootout, the long-lasting friendship sounded, and the eight protagonists surrounded the snow. In, Wolfgang said "Happy fucking New Year." I instantly felt a catharsis, a kind of pleasure that came out after the emotions accumulated to the climax. It's really a great ending to have Wolfgang after the battle to wish the audience a happy new year.

Amanita: Good citizens of San Francisco's upper tax bracket, this man, Agent Jeffrey Bendix, has stormed into the middle of this sacred ceremony, violating this important moment for absolutely no other reason than the gratification of his male ego!
Good citizens of San Francisco, this man, Agent Jeffrey Bendix, interrupted the sacred wedding, disturbed this momentous occasion, and for no reason at all, it was all to satisfy his masculinity arrogant!
Many supporting characters in Sense8 are also very brilliant, and one of the most popular supporting characters is probably Amanita. She has a lot of really wonderful and humorous rants, and more really sweet declarations of love. This part is my favorite line of hers, it is hearty, and after reading it, I just want to shout: scolding beautiful!
There is probably another reason why I am so impressed with this line. In life, male ego is always as annoying as the small advertisements all over the street. Every time I meet those pretentious and arrogant men, after listening to their self-righteous remarks , I always want to reply in Amanita's tone: "You are bragging for absolutely no other reason than the gratification of your male ego." Unfortunately, most of the time, I can only curse in my heart, but keep a polite smile on the surface.
No.11 S01E08
Daniela: We make choices, and life has a way of making us pay for them.
We make choices, and life has a way of making us pay accordingly.
Daniela is another very brilliant supporting role. There is still a lot of suspense about her identity and background in the first and second seasons. Unfortunately, this line was cut off in the finale. In the first season, the main contradiction of the Lito line was concentrated on Daniela, and a lot of excellent dialogues were also born in the process of resolving this contradiction.
The life of each of us is determined by our own choices, and those willful choices will cost us every time. When we regret those times when we should not, there will always be a small voice in my heart saying, The decision you made, you have to walk on your knees?
No.10 Christmas Special
Kala: You have something good and beautiful hidden inside of you. Just as I have something dark and wicked inside of me.
There is something beautiful in you, just as there is something dark and evil in me.
Wolfgang: We're perfect for each other.
We were born together.
Well, I admit that I chose this sentence because I really like the little couple Wolfgang and Kala. I always hope that one day I can meet someone. No matter how different the experience is from the outside, the inside is completely All the same, then you can say to him: We're perfect for each other. So I really can't accept the final outcome of the Kala love triangle. This is not the choice that the brave and rebellious Miss Kala will make in my heart. I can understand which side she chooses, but this kind of has both What is mental infidelity?
Personally, I really, really like how Wolfgang and Kala, Riley and Will got close to each other in the first season, especially the long-distance kiss scenes (some were successful, some failed), these interactions are really designed Just right, sweet but not bitter. Sometimes I think the most attractive part of Sense8's settings is not that you can get the buff that one side is in trouble and all sides can support, but that a sense8 will never be alone. It is enough to have a confidant in life, and a sense8 can be used without a trace. Effortlessly find eight confidants who fully understand you, loving and being loved is no longer a luxury.

Riley: Death doesn't let you say goodbye. It just carves holes in your life, in your future, in your heart.
Death won't let you say goodbye. It will only leave a void in your life, in your future, in your heart.
Sometimes I feel that the breadth of topics involved in this drama and the depth of its presentation of people's hearts. Anyone who has ever faced the unbearable pain of losing a loved one will feel a deep sympathy when Riley utters these words in tears. There are certain wounds that we can never heal, and it can take completely irreversible damage to your heart and your life.
Riley, like Wolfgang, is a man who has been through too much pain. After watching the first season, there will always be people who will criticize Riley for being cumbersome, because her mood swings almost got everyone arrested, and some people will say that she is weak. But in fact, it was just because she had experienced too much pain, and Yrsa made her blame herself for the death of her mother, the death of her husband and children in the snow-capped mountains. It's not that she lacks courage, it's just that the life she has to face is too painful, and it takes unimaginable courage to even pretend to be a normal person. In the end, it was love that saved everything, and it was Will's love that allowed Riley to accept the good things in life again.

Wolfgang: Sometimes you make a mistake. You've got two choices: you live with it, or you fix it.
Sometimes, you make a mistake and you have two choices: accept it, or fix it.
I love Wolfgang's philosophy of life. How many times I have faced an unmanageable situation, I will say to myself, if you don't want to live with it, then show your courage, go and fix it.
No.7 Christmas Special
Sun: We exist because of sex. It's not something to be afraid of. It's something to honor. To enjoy.
We exist because of sex. Sex is nothing to be afraid of, it's something to be respected and enjoy.
Now enter the political correctness triple combo. There's always someone bashing the Waugh sisters for adding too much liberal sermons to this show, okay I'll admit it, but the sermons are brilliant! I was really impressed by them when I first saw them.
Sun's line perfectly sums up the show's attitude towards sex, and the scenes of sex are also very beautiful, and the camera lens and soundtrack seem to be teaching you that sex is the most natural and most beautiful thing (of course Still have to do a good job of self-protection), should not be stigmatized. So I really don't like articles that use group p gimmicks to promote the show, they deviate from the show's true attitude towards sex.
No.6 Christmas Special
Lito & Kala: But if you don't mind, maybe you can explain one thing to me. Why is it even news? Who gives a fuck who I fuck? This is the 21st century, people. Get over it!
But if you don't mind, can you explain one thing to me, why is this new? Who cares who I have sex with? This is the 21st century, folks. Less fuss.
This whole clip is very, very good, and the editing is so good that it ranks in the top five of Sense8's best clips. Kala was gossiped about whether she was a virgin by her husband, and Lito was besieged by reporters because of her sexual orientation. Their questioning was really loud. Yes, now it's the 21st century, why are people still bound by those old and unreasonable norms? My favorite sentence Who gives a fuck who I fuck? Sex is a very personal thing, what does it have to do with others?
No.5 S02E06
Zakir: Yes, I loved a woman. It's true. I've also loved men. I fall in love with the person, not their genitals.
Yes, I once fell in love with a woman. This is real. I have also fallen in love with a man. I love people, not genitals.
In fact, I have never liked Capheus's plot. It's too unreasonable. I always feel that the screenwriter still doesn't know much about Africa, the story is too childish, and the arc of Capheus' characters is far less than the other protagonists. But a few words from his girlfriend are really good, and perfectly encapsulate the point of the show on love and LGBTQ. What we love is a person, his thoughts, every book he has read, every song he has heard, the joys and sorrows he has experienced, his memories of his hometown and childhood, and his complexities His character is his courage, his vulnerability, his persistence and his confusion. We don't fall in love with someone because of our genitals, so why can't we accept relationships other than non-traditional heterosexuality? Love is about the soul, not about identity.
No.4 S02E09
Hernando: I understand what you're going through. And I'm not judging, or trying to fix it, or tell you what to do. I just wanted you to know that I love you. And that you aren't alone.
I understand how you are feeling right now. I don't judge, I don't want to change anything, and I don't tell you what to do. I just want to tell you that I love you and you won't be alone.
In the second season, Lito lost his job because he participated in the big gay parade, and he began to give up on himself, lying in bed all day eating snacks, groaning. And this line is what Hernando said to Lito after he kindly brought fruit to him. I really like the Lito line, the Waugh sisters know too much about the insides of the film industry, and the stories of their actors are especially true. Compared with others, Lito looks muscular and tall and burly, but in fact he is the weakest and most rookie. When he encounters difficulties, he will not face it like Sun and Wolfgang, but Will start to fall on the bed and cry, bemoaning why he is so miserable, keep mourning.
But this Lito really resonates with me. Because when encountering difficulties and setbacks, everyone will have a little Lito in their hearts. He wants to start crying, complaining about others, and starting to feel self-compassion. Want to vent? It's just that most of the time, we can only hide in a corner and cry secretly, then make a pep talk in our hearts, roll up our sleeves and continue to face the difficulties. Lito became the most rude among the eight people. In fact, he was extremely lucky because he had Hernando. He knew that there would always be someone who would love him, understand him, and support him, so he had the confidence to mourning recklessly.
And Hernando's words are really touching. This is what people who truly understand you and love you will say. He will not call Lito decadent, nor will he point fingers at Lito and give advice, and he will not think that Lito is making a fuss. He fully understands the predicament Lito is facing. He knows that Lito just needs some time to find the courage to face it, and he will always patiently accompany Lito by his side to help him dispel his negative emotions.
There is a line from Craig comforting Tweek in South Park season 21 episode 2 that is very similar to this one, like it's said in South Park: "People need help sorting out their emotions sometimes. And the best thing isn't always quick answer, but just being there supporting each other and talking through those feelings.”
No.3 S02E02
Reporter: I just want to understand. Are you admitting you're gay or not?
I just want to understand, do you admit to being gay?
Lito & Nomi: No, you're not trying to understand anything. Because labels are the opposite of understanding.
You're not trying to understand anything, because labelling is the opposite of understanding.
…
Reporter: And who is standing here?
So who is standing here now?
Lito & Capheus & others: Who am I?—-Do you mean where I'm from? What I one day might become? What I do? What I've done? What I dream? What I've seen? Who I love? What I've lose? —-Who am I? I guess who I am is exactly the same as who you are. Not better than. Not less than. Because there is no one who has been or will ever be exactly the same as either you or me.
who am I? You are asking - where am I from? What will my future be like? what did I do? What is my dream? What have I seen? Who do I love? What am I missing? --who am I? I think I am the same as you, neither better than you nor worse than you, because there was no one in the past, nor will there be in the future, anyone who is exactly like you and me.
Here is another super exciting multi-person mixed cut that can be ranked in the top three of the whole play. In this quick clip of everyone asking themselves Who am I, we flash back in the memory of every familiar character, yeah, before the ultimate Who am I question, everyone is going to find it hard to answer because everyone is like that A complex existence, how can it be possible to use a label to completely summarize a person? This show is a great libertarian manifesto because it doesn't label the LGBTQ community, but rather deeply reveals the complex inner world of each character, we see that everyone is so different, but can be Finding so much resonance in each other, more important than the LGBTQ label is the person's own character and experience.
Lito countered the reporter, you're not trying to understand anything. This reporter is just judging others according to his own biases, and when you label someone, you have refused to understand him as a person just like you. Real communication between people must be based on mutual understanding, and understanding must be based on respect.
No.2 S01E06
Riley: It's not the drugs that make a drug addict, it's the need to escape reality.
It's not the drugs that make people addicted, it's the escape from reality.
It might be unconvincing to put this line in second place, but it really is the line that resonates with me the most. For example, now, when I have countless jobs to do, I am happy to write a film review here, it's not the TV show that makes a procrastinator, it's the need to escape reality. Everyone in front of the screen must have more important things to do now, but life is so difficult, escape is shameful but useful, you might as well briefly escape while brushing your phone/watching a drama.
Also, in this scene, the sun is shining from behind Riley's back, which is really beautiful.
No.1 S01E08
Lito & Hernando: In the end, we will all be judged by the courage in our hearts.
Ultimately, it is our inner courage that measures us.
The line at the top of the list is something I often use to inspire myself. I remember reading Harry Potter when I was a child. I have never understood why the quality of Gryffindor with the protagonist's halo is courage. In my opinion, Ravenclaw's wisdom is more useful than courage. It wasn't until I grew up that I gradually understood that courage is really the most important quality, as Churchill said, Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities, because it is the quality which guarantees all others. May we all have the courage to face life with courage.
Thank you to the Sense8 crew, thank you for creating such a beautiful show for us, and thank you for finally giving us a complete ending. In the end, amor vincit omnia, love conquers all.
