After watching this film, I felt very heavy. I remember that when I was in high school, the teacher led us to watch it after finishing the lesson "Auschwitz Concentration Camp" in the textbook. In fact, the content of the textbook has already made us appreciate the injustice and hell at that time, but it is really just talk on paper, and it did not make me have too many emotions, because I did not feel the same way, after watching this movie, let me I understand even more how painful the stories in the textbook were for the people at that time. I clearly remember my panic, anger, sadness, and regret at that time.

The film tells the story of a boy who left school and his friends because of the war, and accidentally met a Jewish boy who was a servant at home. The boy was frightened and refused to admit it was his friend. Children are still just a blank piece of paper, and sometimes what they do will actually make some adults feel ashamed. After a long time of thinking and self-reflection, the boy realized that it was wrong to do so. The Jewish boy was found again, asking for his forgiveness and promising to help him find his father. Finally the boy changed into the prisoner's clothes, and his father, a senior military officer, also issued an order to send the group of Jews to the laboratory. I saw the soldiers shoving them in, and I really couldn't bear to watch it, so I found an excuse to escape from the classroom. I couldn’t calm down for a long time, and I thought to myself, don’t just do this, and ruin that cute boy with blue eyes. When I returned to the classroom with a stable mood, I only saw the boy’s military father, kneeling not far from the prison, tearing his heart out. The cry of the lungs.

If I knew it now, why was it in the first place? Such a story is heavy. It is said that everyone who has been to Auschwitz concentration camp came out depressed. This is a terrible memory. I have been to the Martyrs Cemetery to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. It is already very heavy. I don't know how much I can bear if I am there. Our generation lives in an era of peace. We were born with superiority. We did not catch up with the turbulence of our parents, nor did we catch up with the natural disasters of the country. We have less treasure and less gratitude.

If it is not the officer's child who died, maybe he will not reflect on it yet. Guilt and self-blame will only accompany kind people, and there are two situations at that time. One is that the officer will reflect on himself. , but I feel very little. On the other hand, being brainwashed, he would only add hatred to the Jews, believing that it was their instigation, which intensified.

The film is over, but it is also very thought-provoking, may our world be peaceful, and may no one shed blood.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas quotes

  • Herr Liszt: Yes Bruno?

Bruno: I don't understand, the Jew is down to this one man?

Herr Liszt: The Jew here means the entire Jewish race. If it was just this one man I'm sure something would be done about him.

Bruno: There is such thing as a nice Jew isn't there?

Herr Liszt: [Sarcastically] I think Bruno if you ever find a nice Jew, you'd be the best explorer in the world.

  • Father: My work is very important to our country and to you. We're working very hard to make the world better for you.
