Rouge recommends Orson Welles
Tonight I watched "The Third Man", which is known as a classic of black suspense, in the archives. I didn't agree or make a grandstanding to say that I wouldn't rate it too high. The most intuitive feeling: clumsy and delicate.
The leaky script, the gritty soundtrack, the obvious camera trajectory, the negative space that blinds the audience, and even the slanted shots are what I see as clumsy. The setting of long-range and close-up quick cuts, facial close-up quick cuts, transitions and movement scheduling, passers-by's demeanor, four countries in the same frame, lectures and cats are also called exquisite.
When the protagonist character is the scumbag who seduces the "widow" with infinite contempt, Suo Ji can't be of any interest at all from his perspective, sorry, I don't like flies and seamed eggs.
In my humble opinion, the viewing process of a suspense or crime movie is similar to an RPG game. During the entire mission process, you constantly collect items, and you constantly get the dopamine stimulation of reward and compensation to be able to climax, be happy, and be amazed. When I hold a piece of the puzzle and think that I will continue to fight or the easter egg reward, but it is useless until I clear the level, and no one even tells me whether this thing is useful or not, I will be angry because of the disappointment. Can anyone tell me what is the use of the settings for the heroine, little boy, same-sex couple, parrot, and German?
When the loopholes are hard to ignore, and the characters are completely unattractive, it's hard to fit into the atmosphere of the film and appreciate the film selflessly.
In addition, the laughing audience and crap subtitles are also very unpleasant. Spicy chicken! !
PS. The only interesting character is the loyal dog officer.
I feel that the film editing of that era was very hard and great!
