Gary Oldman turns 60 today! Sahua~~ This year, the dog father not only won the long overdue Oscar, but also married the woman he loves, and has a good harvest in both career and love.
On this beaming day, I want to Amway a movie about a dog dad, and he is a bit special in this movie.
This is what most people think of Gary Oldman
But in this film, his biggest expression is like this
Gary Oldman has played countless crazy roles, but in this film he is unprecedentedly restrained, with no extra actions, no extra lines, and still successfully created a seasoned and humane with subtle expressions and eyes. Gentleman spy image. This is the film "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, hereinafter referred to as "Tinker") that earned him his first Oscar nomination. Daddy Dog plays the lead actor George Smiley in the film.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by John le Carré.
The author Le Carré himself has been a spy for MI6 since he was 18 years old. His other works include "Berlin Spy", "The Eternal Gardener", "Night Manager" and so on. Le Carré's spies often struggle under pressure and generally do not end well. However, this is close to the real spy.
During Le Carré's tenure at MI6, there was an incident where six agents surrendered to the Soviet Union. Bill Haydn, played by Colin Firth in The Tinker, epitomizes the six agents.
Considering the huge amount of information in the original book and the fragmented plot, the following is the whole story from the beginning in the actual chronological order, supplementing the background of the story according to the original book, and marking the sequence of events in the movie in parentheses. Warmly welcome everyone to watch this film and feel the different side of the dog. If you don't want to see spoilers, you can directly pull to the second dividing line~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~・Spoiler dividing line~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Before World War II, the British intelligence agency "Circle" was established. It's called "Circus" in the movie.
2. In the early 1950s after World War II, "Cambridge genius" Bill Haydn was bought by Karla , the head of the Soviet intelligence agency , and became a double agent.
3. In 1955, the Soviet intelligence agencies were purged, and Kara was likely to be executed after returning home. Shi Maili advised him to pledge allegiance Britain, without success, Kara would rather die than give up faith. Smiley gave him a lighter from his wife, and Carla saw that his weakness was his beloved wife (movie ⑭).
4. After Kara returned to China, she survived the disaster and made a comeback. He used Smiley 's feelings for his wife to let Bill Haydn seduce her, so that Smiley could not calmly face the real inner ghost.
5. Rounder official Percy Allerion is eager to be promoted. Bill Haydn introduced him to an intelligence source, code-named "Wizard" (in fact, this person did not exist), the Soviet spy Polyakov as the wizard's agent to provide information to the British (film ⑥).
In fact, what Britain got were all the inferior and fake products of the Soviet Union, while the Soviet Union obtained high-quality British intelligence from Bill Haydn , while attracting the United States to exchange intelligence with its ally Britain in order to share intelligence, so as to obtain intelligence about the United States.
6. Percy Allerion is expected to be promoted, and he is ecstatic. He and Roy Brand apply for a special fund to leave the boss alone and rent an apartment as a place to exchange information (movie ③).
6. Connie , a Circus agent, is good at analyzing archives. She found Polyakov suspicious.
But when she told Percy Alleline and Toby Easterhas she was refuted and sent to retire early (film ⑧).
7. The boss began to suspect that there was a "mole" (double agent) inside the Circus, and began to investigate alone, and finally locked the suspect on five people and gave them code names (video ⑰):
Tinker (Percy-Alleline)
Tailor (Bill Haydn)
Soldier (Roy Brand)
Poor Man (Toby Easterhas)
Beggar (George Smiley)
8. Peter Gillum's (Benedict Cumberbatch) man , Ricky Tal (Tom Hardy), travels to Istanbul to monitor a Soviet trade delegation, waiting for an opportunity to persuade one of the representatives, Boris, to surrender to Britain.
Ricky Tarr found out that Boris was a Soviet spy who came to lure British spies out of the hole and gave up the mission to return home. Then Boris's wife can not stand her husband's infidelity and domestic violence, fell in love with Ricky - Tal , decided to surrender to the British, an intelligence revealed as a gift: there rounders senior Kara placed spy.
The secret telegram that Ricky Tarr sent back to the Circus was seen by the inner ghost. Kara immediate withdrawal of the Soviet delegation, kill Boris and another British agent, to Ricky - Tal account large sums of money into the blame to him. When Boris's wife was kidnapped and returned home, Ricky Tarr had to run for his life. He realized that it was true that there were ghosts in the Circus, and he did not dare to contact the organization, and was characterized as a defector (video ⑫).
9. In 1972, the boss sent Jim Pledo to secretly travel to Hungary to meet a general who was about to defect, who knew who the rounder was. Jim Pledo was betrayed by Bill Haydn to Kara and was shot and arrested (film ①).
Jim Pledo was tortured. Carla interrogates herself, wondering how much the British know about the insider. The Soviets shot Boris's wife in front of Jim Pledo . (Video ⑱)
10. The news of Jim Pledo's failed connection and arrest spread to the United Kingdom, triggering a serious diplomatic incident. The boss was hit hard, and he retired soon after Percy Allerion took over. Smiley , Peter - Gillum and a group of subordinates close to the boss were excluded (film ②).
The boss later fell ill and died alone in the hospital.
11. In 1973, Jim Pledo , who was released incognito, became a contemporary teacher in a rural primary school in England and established a friendship with the little boy Bill (film ⑩).
12. At the same time , Ricky Tarr , who had evaporated for a long time, returned to the UK and contacted Assistant Secretary of Defense Lacan to inform him that there was a ghost in the rounder. Lacan found Peter Gillum and the retired Smiley and told them that before his death, the boss also said that there were "mole rats" in the top of the circle , and asked them to investigate secretly (film ④).
13. Smiley found a chess piece marked the suspect at the boss's house (Video ⑤).
Toby Easterhas : Dark horse. The horse is the weakest pawn except for the pawns.
Roy Brand : Black King. It looks powerful, but its attack power is limited.
Bill Haydn: White. Xiang is the only piece with cracks, and the path is not correct.
George Smiley : Black Queen. The next one is the most powerful piece.
Smiley's lifelong opponent Kara : Queen White.
14. Smiley sent Peter Guillam to get a list of people who left after the boss retired, including people who may have been obstructed and eliminated. They find Connie in the list . During a visit to her, I learned about Polyakov (Video ⑦)
15. Ricky Tarr appeared at Smiley's house and told his story, begging Smiley to exchange Boris's wife from Kara . Smiley further affirmed the high rank of the inner ghost, because he could read the telegram of the urgent, highest level (movie ⑪).
Smiley sends Peter Gillum to the Circular 's archives to steal Ricky Tal's telegram's night shift record, only to find the page torn (movie ⑬).
16. When analyzing the financial accounts of the Circus , Smiley found a suspicious flow of funds, and the payee was a pseudonym of Jim Pledo , inferring that Jim Pledo was not dead (film ⑨).
He finds the latter, who tells him what happened (movie ⑯).
17. Smiley found the person who was sent by the boss to watch the telegram on the night of Jim Pledo's accident . He learned that the telegram arrived early in the morning, and the person on duty could not get a reply from the boss, so he called Smiley according to the procedure . Smiley was away that night, and his wife answered the phone. Then Bill - Haydn quickly rushed to the rounder (film ⑮).
18. After Smiley was authorized by the Minister of Defense, the arrest operation began (video ⑲). First, he intimidated Toby Easthas , the lowest and weakest of the four suspects , to obtain the address of the apartment that was connected to Polyakov (movie ⑳). Then, Smiley sent Ricky Tarr to attack the intelligence station in Paris, informing the Circus that he had important information about the inner ghost. After several high-level suspects were discussed at the meeting, the inner ghost rushed to the joint and reported to Polyakov as soon as possible (film 21).
19. The truth is revealed.
20. Bill Haydn explained to Smiley his motives for betraying his country while in custody :
It was after World War II, the rise of the United States and the Soviet Union, and the gradual decline of the old powerhouse Britain. Those British spies nostalgic for the old days were hit hard. Compared with the United States, which entered the battlefield near the end of the war and made a fortune, they are more emotionally inclined towards the Soviet Union, which once fought side by side and had the strength to compete with the United States after the war. Soon, Bill Hayden was assassinated by Jim Pledo .
22. Smiley became the new head of the rounder and reunited with his wife.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~
After watching this movie, what impressed me the most was the "blank". The director followed the method of the previous work "No Ones to Enter", and used the most restrained shots to give the most amount of information.
Smiley's lifelong enemy and lifelong love, two such important characters do not have a face in the film.
The director only gave a shot of the lighter, implying that Carla was present.
When Smiley and his wife were reunited, only a vague vision was given. The director took the audience to hide away quietly and happily, leaving the couple who have experienced too much private space.
The film makes many changes to the original book, which in my opinion are understandable and successful.
In order to make it easier for the audience to distinguish between memory and reality, Smiley wears different glasses in the film. All the parts he recalled were golden tortoiseshell frames, but in reality they were all black frames. Among the original scenes in the movie, the most brilliant is the Christmas ball. Implications between almost all the important characters involved:
Boss' dissatisfaction with Percy
The relationship between Bill Haydn, Smiley, and Smiley's wife
The author Le Carré himself has a cameo (the white-bearded and white-haired grandfather on the right side of the picture).
In order to show the spy's involuntary personal feelings, the film arranged two pairs of homosexuals: Bill Haydn and Jim Pledo, close friends and lovers for more than 20 years. Because of different political positions, the former betrayed the latter, and the latter assassinated the former
The other pair is not in the novel, Peter Gillum and his lover. Smiley reminded Peter Gillum to deal with a relationship that could be caught by an opponent as soon as possible. Peter reluctantly bid farewell to his lover. Before that, there was a scene where Bill Haydn and Peter Gillum were talking about new girls in the office.
Even in his daily life, Peter did not forget to deliberately peek at women on the road.
The film came to a screeching halt when Smiley took over, as if it had a happy ending. But in the sequel to the original book, The Honor Student, Smiley was ostracized by members of the organization. As Connie said, what he found was a truth no one wanted to see.
In the final chapter of the original trilogy, "Smiley's Crew", Smiley reluctantly resorted to underhand tricks in order to face off against his nemesis Kara. The two of them were poor people facing the same isolation, with Kara ultimately sacrificing his political beliefs and Smiley giving up his humanity. In their world, there are no winners.
Finally, appreciate the acting of the dog father in the big close-up. In the time of two lines, his expression has been changing slightly.
