It may have been ten years since the last time I watched Mulan. Looking back at Disney's Mulan, the film in 1998 is exquisite in every aspect. The Chinese animations made by Americans, as Chinese people, will be amazed by the Chinese style shown in them. They are really beautiful and unique. The attack of the Xiongnu Snow Mountains and the last thousand people kneeling in the imperial city can be said to be tearful and magnificent.
Compared with watching a lively show when I was a child, now I see Mulan from the beginning as a woman disguised as a man to replace her father in the army, and later to lead her comrades in men dressed as women to rescue the emperor, from an ordinary girl even a matchmaker disliked, to finally relying on her own bravery and resourcefulness, Winning the emperor's bow and even the worship of all the people not only shows Mulan's growth, but also shows that the shackles of male superiority in her world have been broken.
On the other hand, everyone shouted that Mulan should honor the ancestors, how to honor the ancestors, for a woman who has no status or ability, marrying a good man is honoring the ancestors. She couldn't do it, and it brought shame to her family. But in the end, when Mulan earned the glory that most men couldn't earn, and gave the royal gift of the glorious lintel to her father, her father just threw them aside, hugging Mulan and saying that Daddy misses you so much. Although he sacrificed his life to go to the battlefield just to be worthy of the family's face, his face was still inferior to his daughter's safety.
As a Chinese princess in the princess series, Mulan is not a princess from the beginning to the end, but she can really appreciate the good intentions of Disney in choosing her as the theme. She is indeed a real princess.
Looking back at this animation more than 20 years ago, art, music, footage, and screenwriting, all of which can't be faulted. Our animation is still unmatched to this day. The long road is long, and the road is blocked.
