Worse than violence is the indifference of bystanders

When I saw this movie by chance, it was out of control, and the tears I watched in the first half couldn't stop flowing.
Henry's flat acceptance of death, and the fact that he was still planning for the girl next door in the last days of his life was memorable and moving.
If it wasn't for hopeless help, I believe he would not choose to plan murder.
As he told his mother, more terrible than violence is the indifference of bystanders!
No matter how mature and smart he is, he is still a child after all, and he does not have enough experience to fully consider the consequences.
The ending is happy, but it's not the one Henry wrote.
Henry's mother's dependence on her children is the embodiment of love.

The Book of Henry quotes

  • Susan Carpenter: We are not murdering the police commissioner and that is final!

  • Henry Carpenter: [opening internal monologue] People are decent mostly. I say mostly because we all know there are some real pricks out there. People are decent because they never forget how to reach out. Now and then, they'll even surprise you, but then again, sometimes they won't.
