Gay is the only criterion for testing gay films

I have watched the movie four times from its release to the present. I read half of the novel, and the original soundtrack could not help myself. I suddenly felt that I should write a film review to commemorate my record-breaking addiction.

LGBTQ-related themed movies have long been scheduled every year. Last year's "Moonlight" and "Miss", "Carol" the year before, and before that "Adele's Life", "Silmaria", "Miss" Normal Heart", "Kill Your Love" and so on, all the way back to the epoch-making "Brokeback Mountain" in 2005. Not a single gay character in a movie or TV show is embarrassed to go out these days, except, of course, from Disney.

As a lesbian, while I am glad that the number of works depicting sexual minorities increases year by year, it helps the public to understand and accept us better, but at the same time, my mood is very complicated. Take, for example, The Life of Adele. I watched this movie with my girlfriend and it was a bit embarrassing to watch both of them. When I communicated with other Lala friends, I found that we are not two people. So far I haven't met Lara who likes "Adele's Life" very much. Not that the movie is bad -- it's a good movie, just not a good lesbian movie. The lesbian relationship from the perspective of a straight man is described as very awkward. The most direct manifestation is that a group of straight friends came to me after watching the movie and said, "Oh my God, you all applaud love so much, it's just goose girl Jin!" I can only show an embarrassed and polite smile, and my heart is full of roars of "We're not like this!!!".

Movies are a window into another group, and passers-by glance in curiously, leaving the outline of a landscape, and move on. How many people have worked so hard for this moment's impression, you will always worry that the window angle ratio is not good enough, not comprehensive enough, not objective enough, leaving people with wrong plausible concepts. Every group has so many things they want to show, look at me, look at us, how to live in real life.

And Call Me By Your Name directly overturned that wall.

The phrase I use most often for Amway's movie is "it doesn't assert itself as a gay movie". The self-doubt, inner struggles, bitter rants, social pressures, parental barriers, drug abuse, discrimination, promiscuity and AIDS that come standard in gay movies are none of them, or they’re just dismissed. This is just a young and imperfect love story. In the summer of 1983, Italy, one person fell in love with another person, regardless of gender or age, your eyes followed him, you guessed the meaning of his every word and every action, You worry about whether he will like me too, you will flirt with him and be jealous, and you want him to know that you like him. A little bit of accumulated temptation, to confession, to kissing, to hugging for the first time. In the end, the sad ending is only because of distance and time (well, maybe there is a little social pressure), but you remember all the good and sad, squatting in front of the stove and crying for the lost love. Everyone loves someone like this, and everyone has such a lovelorn. Every time Visions of Gideon sounds at the end, how many tears are shed for themselves in the sobbing sound.

Timothee Chalamet, the jewel of the world, must be praised here. 70% of this movie is supported by the acting of the boy born in 1995. When he laughs, the whole screen looks like love, and when he cries, I also feel broken in love (girlfriend is full of question marks). He also shined in "Lady Bird" during the same period, with these two films participating in the fight of the gods for various best actor nominations this year (here is the list of Golden Globe nominees: Daniel Day-Lewis, Galio Deman, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, and our 22-year-old Sweet Tea). Both the book and the movie are from Elio's perspective, and Sweet Tea is the 17-year-old Italian boy who came out of the book. On the other hand, there is basically no description of Oliver's inner activities in the book. Most of the time, it is Elio's nympho filter or "what do I think about Oliver". Therefore, it must be admitted that Oliver's image lacks support, and it may be more necessary for the actor to play himself than Elio. Armie Hammer's body is perfect for Sex Bomb's mission, but after watching it three times, the character feels a little thin. Especially set off by the sweet tea, Armie's emotional expression often feels that something is missing. Fortunately, reading the book can make up some of it, but at the same time, there are greater doubts: in the book, Elio is attracted to Oliver because of his intelligence and insight. Elio feels that Oliver can understand himself, and he wants to be like Oliver, Of course there's the body and appearance and the Jewish part, but Armie's image in the movie, IMHO, doesn't look that smart.

Speaking of which, Armie has acted in a lot of gay movies, and the social network Uncle Bureau is the favorite series of fans. So this kind of performance full of chemistry with another man should be familiar to him. Not to mention his full-length shorts shape, with legs that look like he's not wearing pants. The first time I watched it, the little gay next to him gasped every time his flesh appeared on the big screen. There was an interview with the director and actors after the Arclight film. The two leading actors were both straight men. They appeared in the interview as good brothers. They joked about Armie's title of "Sexiest Man of 2017", patted each other on the shoulders and said, "Although we are naked in We roll around in the movie, but we are still good friends hahaha!" To be honest, the audience was just immersed in the love atmosphere you created, and then this kind of interview came out, which really made people wonder how to react.

The little gay next to him commented: "OMG, this interview ruined the movie."

Arclight's superfluous interview aside, as far as I know, the gay community's response to the film has been excellent. In its first week of release, Hollywood's Arclight was literally all gay in Los Angeles. For the first time in my life, I saw no one lined up for the women's room in the men's room at the cinema. It's not easy, after all, as I said before, this is not a typical gay movie. And that delicate "I'm not LGBT-focused but I'm LGBT-positive" balance the director has mastered very well. The negative example is "Adele's Life". The lesbian image in the fantasy of straight male directors really makes this group very uncomfortable. One of the reasons may be that the director himself is gay, and he has a deep understanding of what gays want to see, such as the Italian summer landscape, such as a sincere love, such as Armie Hammer's body, such as parents supporting understanding.

In the interview, the director said that during the production, people kept asking him, where is the villain, who will stop their love, and quickly write the mother as a bad person! He said I don't, this movie doesn't need this kind of Drama. Elio's parents are enlightened and supportive to a dream level, especially his mother, all kinds of god assists. In the movie, the scene of a 10-year-old girl Vimini in the book was incorporated into the mother, which is the paragraph "I think he likes you more than you do". The key story of the knight princess is also read by the mother, not to mention the last help The world of Elio and Oliver. And the conversation between my father and Elio should be what all gay guys want to hear from their parents. I support you, I understand you, I am here, how you live your own life is your own business, the relationship you have is beautiful, I was on the edge of this relationship, but I never took that step, I am jealous of you. Every time here, the audience is silent, suppressing the low sobbing.

There was a funny episode when I first watched it, after my dad confessed that he was almost gay, Elio asked him "Does mom know?" He replied "I don't think she knows." Gay guy, said aloud "She knows! She has gay-dar!!!!" at this time, the people around suddenly burst into laughter, which was very out of tune with the overall atmosphere.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I

don't know what to write here, and I have so many emotions I want to express, so I'll just write a few points that I find very interesting.

I went with a friend when I brushed three times. She said she didn't quite understand why Elio would say that Oliver was a traitor before going to bed on the night when Elio confessed to kiss nosebleeds and foot massage, and even went to ask a girl directly the next day. I read the book and found the lines that the movie didn't have: Oliver said "I'll stick around" after Elio's nosebleed, but he slipped away immediately, Elio asked around where Oliver was for a day, and his inner drama also included that day At night, I wanted to take advantage of the confession kiss to attack Oliver to sleep at night (Elio in the book is really super! Hungry! Thirsty!), but Oliver came back very late and ignored him. He felt ashamed and angry that Oliver was a traitor , which makes sense.

Oh, pay attention to the light that Elio left on the bed here in the movie, it was a deliberate trick he played to illuminate his body in the dark :)

and the nosebleed was sudden in the movie, in the book it was because Oliver was in Flirt with him with your feet under the table!

Elio has never been able to recognize other people's voices on the phone, but he knew it was Oliver the last time he answered the phone;

Elio and Oliver's couple's big satellite necklace was still wearing in winter;

Elio was chatting in the movie before he confessed. In the war monument, the book is talking about Shelley, which is more literary and artistic. In the

book, Elio uses the color of the swimming trunks that Oliver wore that day to divide his mood.

In the movie Elio gave the girl a book, and in the book Elio also gave Oliver a book, Stendhal's "Armance", the title page reads "for you in silence, somewhere in Italy in the mid-eighties", The boy's mind was clear.

The novel has more details than the movie, and Elio's sensitive literary and artistic character is also more vividly reflected. The style is actually a bit Qiong Yao, full of psychological descriptions like "I want to kill him so I don't have to think about him." It's inexplicably refreshing to read, highly recommended!

Finally, if you can watch it on the big screen, definitely go! The beauty of cinema on 35mm film! There are a few out-of-focus shots that are brilliant, and my film-professional friends are full of praise for DP. As an ordinary viewer, I can only sincerely say that it is really beautiful.

The feeling of love is really beautiful.
