I didn't cry.

As a deep lover of animated movies, I went to watch the much-anticipated "COCO" today with great anticipation. Maybe it was because the expectations were too high, or maybe it was involuntarily compared with the "Book of Life" with the same theme of the Mexican Day of the Dead. I was not moved to tears when everyone in the crowded theater was sobbing. At the beginning of "COCO", the boy sang to the black-and-white movie and recites his idol lines back and forth, which reminded me of "UP". Recalling the 2012 Oscars Best Animated Feature Film "Brave", it is also a film about family relationships, and a person shed tears in the huge theater. I don’t know if you still remember the song "Noble maiden fair" performed by a mother and daughter chorus in Brave Legends. This song has moved me far more than "Remember me" by a father and daughter chorus in "COCO". It is said that Pixar today has been gradually assimilated by Disney, making exquisite movies that almost everyone can't fault. But I still miss the immersiveness of "Brave" and the unbelievable nature of "Brain Secret Service". Even if it only talks about music, "remember me" is not brilliant, far less than the heart-touching expression of "apology song" from "The Book of Life". As the poster of another long article said, "Looking for a Dream" is full of over-exquisite craftsmanship and a commercial atmosphere that caters to the public. It is no longer the touch from the bottom of my heart from the Disney that I once loved, nor the fearless fantasy of Pixar that I once admired. It may be the reason why I care too much about music. In my opinion, OST constitutes half of the soul of the movie. "COCO" is almost perfect, but it is still not immersive enough, not enough immersive, without the exciting story and touching music to make people deeply immersed.

PS think "Brave" is a bad film, so don't come here to talk. It is the only princess fairy tale by Pixar, and in my opinion it is also the most special work in the princess fairy tale. The audience is small and there is little publicity. Some people may have less emotional resonance, thinking that princess fairy tales are clichéd characters and thin plots. I have to say that this work is indeed more of Disney's warm style on the surface, but the well-made style and the one-stop plot are obviously the soul of Pixar! In addition, the music and the plot fit perfectly and are very impressive.

Coco quotes

  • Miguel: This isn't a dream, then - you're all really out there.

Tía Victoria: You thought we weren't?

Miguel: Well, I don't know - I thought it might have been one of those made-up things adults tell kids! Like vitamins.

Tía Victoria: Miguel, vitamins are a real thing!

Miguel: Well, now I'm thinking maybe they could be.

  • Miguel: Are those... Alebrijes?

Tío Oscar: Real Alebrijes. Spirit creatures.

Tía Rosita: They guide souls on their journey.

Tío Felipe: Watch your step - they make 'caquitas' everywhere.
