The movie "The Room" tells a story about being imprisoned and returning to life. "Room" in the movie refers to a small shed with skylights. It means "cage" and also symbolizes "another world." What is trapped in the cage is only the body, while the soul survives in another world created by itself. The director told us a cruel and warm story through the perspective of a child. It not only has the suspenseful atmosphere and the bridge of wits that ordinary secret room movies should have, but also the touching affection between mother and child and thinking about understanding the world, saying goodbye to the past, and returning to the family.
I have to mention the performance of the two protagonists in this film. The little boy Jack is played by a ten-year-old actor Jacob Trebre from Canada. He also performed in "The Smurfs 2." In this film, his long hair styling makes him look like a little girl, which is very cute. Of course, his performance in this film is also very pure. The control of facial expressions and psychological drama is natural and smooth, and there is no trace of performance. The scene of rolling out the blanket and looking at the sky is amazing enough.
In addition, playing the role of mother is an actress from the United States, Brie Larson, who was born in 1989 and is not only an actor but also a singer. I first met her in the work "The Gambler", which she collaborated with Mark Wahlberg (I personally like this movie very much). And the mother who always accompany him never to leave also reached her final relief and reconciliation of the difficulties she suffered in the past while saying goodbye to the room silently. In the last shot of the film, looking at the backs of the mother and son walking away, what awaits them is definitely a new life!
