During the Korean War, the teenager Yin Deok-su boarded the rescue ship of the U.S. military with his parents, but suffered an unforgettable parting of his life. Although the war has ceased, the north and south peninsulas are divided into two, and the northern hometown, which has been plagued by artillery fire, is far away. After growing up, Deok-soo (played by Hwang Jung-min), who became the mainstay of his father, worked hard to make money. In order to prepare for the tuition of his younger brother and sister, he and his childhood friend Qian Da-gu (played by Wu Da-su) went to West Germany to work as miners. Thousands of miles of home and country, nostalgia is like a thread, the lonely Deok-soo accidentally meets Youngja (Kim Yoon-jin), a Korean girl majoring in nursing in Germany. From then on, her life as black as coal shines brightly. Happy times and the ordeal of death go hand in hand. Fortunately, after experiencing the test of life and death, Dexiu returned to the home where he was longing for, and won the heart of Yingzi.
