I vaguely remember a drowning feeling

It's been a long time since I watched the movie, and only one scene is particularly vivid in my memory. It was the little boy who was swimming in the pool, smiling and going ashore. The people around smiled and looked around and stretched out their hands, but when the boy approached, he kicked him into the pool with one foot, struggled around, had nowhere to go, and finally drowned in the water. This episode, many years later, is often remembered inexplicably, with a kind of hopeless suffocation.
In fact, this movie should be about the growth of male teenagers. In that specific era, they were idle and troubled youth, as well as their first love for the opposite sex and the hormones of teenagers. After I read it, the youth experience of those men did not have much sense of substitution. On the contrary, the dappled sunlight and tanned air in the film left a deep impression on me.
This way of telling stories is very special, and Jiang Wen is really talented.
