Ellis, 14, lives in a houseboat on the Mississippi River and helps his father Big Ellis sell fish all day. At the same time, he roams around idle with his good friend Nye Cockburn, in order to dispel the excess hormones endocrine in the youthful body. The ignorant young man has a good yearning for friendship and love. One day, he met a big boy bullying a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl. Out of anger, he stepped forward and attacked the big boy, and he succeeded. The story of the hero saving the beauty, a small part of this episode, will inevitably bring the girl's goodwill towards the hero. So the girl agreed to date Ellis, kissed him on the date, and promised to be his girlfriend. Ellis thought that God favored him and let him have a beautiful girlfriend early.
