Combination of fantasy and horror, Reivew on The Void

The first half of the film is a standard horror movie mode. Several people are trapped in a lonely hospital at midnight, unable to communicate with the outside world, and are also besieged by a group of mysterious men in white clothes with knives. In the hospital, the nurse seemed to be summoned to kill the only patient, and was shot dead by the police officers who came. But when the dead nurse's corpse begins to mutate, the tone of the film shifts to a whimsical and eerie style. In particular, the second half of the film introduces the concept of another world, which seems to open the door to hell.
It is said that the film is based on the Lovecraft style, that is, the logic of the film is not very reasonable, and it mainly shows a relationship between people and religion and human ignorance. The different world in the film should be what we call hell, but we humans are so insignificant in the universe and our understanding is so shallow, so we can't penetrate the truth of the universe at all. Of course, for many audiences, this is a bit of a mystical feeling. The monster shape of the film uses very retro makeup effects instead of computer CG. The scene of the different world at the end is a little shocking, which well sets off the helplessness in the face of the complete unknown.
