It's not unreasonable that "Moonlight" is the best picture Oscar.
Many viewers are very confused about the award of "Moonlight", so let me talk about the disadvantages of this film first.
The film is definitely flawed. Director's Award The film is divided into three parts to describe little's upbringing: as a child, in high school and as a drug dealer. There is a lot to express, but the movie is only two hours long. A lot of content can only be a mere formality.
The little boy in the play is a very introverted child who speaks very little, which makes the two-hour movie too slow. There are a lot of back figures and facial expressions in the movie. The director probably wanted to use the emotional rendering of the character's face to infect the audience. But it is a pity that such a shocking force has no words, the language comes faster and more thorough, and not everyone can feel the fear and helplessness in the protagonist's facial expressions.
From the perspective of photography, "Moonlight" is indeed well shot, but there is still a certain gap between the level of detail and "La La Land". Coupled with black, gay, drug trafficking and other very serious social problems in the United States, it is easy to be put on a hat: the Oscar for the best picture is for political correctness.
"Political correctness" has a certain rationality, but it is not what the film wants to express.
The reason for choosing black homosexuality is not to label racism and minorities, but to portray the ambivalence brought about by little as a paradox. Homosexuals are a vulnerable group, blacks are a controversial group. When these two things are mixed together, it adds to the tension of the film's characters.
If this society lacks humanity, it will become a society of the lawless. From the perspective of survival of the fittest, there are three types of people in the world: abusers, bystanders, and victims. In situations where someone is absolutely powerful, they can be the abuser. It is the silent bystanders who keep out the shocking events such as violence. The silent majority use their ability to be silent to find their own way of survival in this turbulent world. For the perpetrators and bystanders, it is difficult to understand the pain of little as a vulnerable group in the film, and it is easy to put on the film hypocritical and politically correct hat.
Little and Kevin are actually disadvantaged groups. When he was young, little was a physically disadvantaged group. He was weak in character and not strong enough, but his heart was strong. He can choose the drug-trafficking business that ordinary people can't choose, and he can also develop a figure with a body fat percentage of 8%. When he was young, Kevin was very powerful on the surface, but he was actually a psychologically disadvantaged group. He couldn't find the direction of his life, and used seemingly powerful means of force to cover up his inner fragility.
In this way, it is very reasonable for two people who can complement each other in body and mind to come together. It is precisely because of this that Kevin was surprised when he saw that Little was fully equipped with muscles. This person no longer had the impression of physical weakness.
But in the end, Kevin and little still found each other's weakness. Little's weakness is the pursuit of love and the desire to be loved. Kevin's weakness is emotional catharsis, like his relationship with his children. It's no surprise that Kevin is little's shoulder.
Compared with "La La Land", "Moonlight" does have many flaws. The narrative is too slow, and the picture is not as beautiful as the color palette of La La Land... But the pattern of "Moonlight Boy" is larger than the love in "La La Land", the pattern of chasing dreams is larger, and the coverage is wider. The tone of "Moonlight Boy" has gone beyond the controversial topics of race and homosexuality. He is describing the growth problems that each of us may face: each of us may become a vulnerable group in different environments, whether physically or psychologically. . How do we deal with our weaknesses? How to stay calm in all kinds of environments? Most importantly, how do we love and be loved.
I sincerely hope that in this dehumanized society, we can not bully the weak when we are strong, not be afraid when we are weak, and strive to become strong... The most important thing is to have the ability to love and be loved. There are shoulders to lean on when you are weak, and strength to others when you are strong.
