The whole film is filled with the grim photography style of Europe, and 2/3 of Suspicious Shadows is very attractive, but unfortunately the last 1/3 lost its brilliance and skills, and the overall level is 1-2 stops lower than that of "Gone Lover".
The album version has been released, you can download it if you are concerned about such topics.
1. Story:
Rachel (Emily Blunt), a woman who is very alcoholic and unable to conceive, has made a mess of her life and divorced. After the divorce, she would take the train into the city every day, and every day she would pay attention to her ex-husband's home and the home of another beautiful and handsome man. However, one day, Rachel was shocked to find that the beauty was having an affair with a strange man (not her husband), and she quickly got out of the car to see. It didn't take long for the newspaper to report that the beauty was missing, and the alcoholic Rachel became the biggest suspect...
Later, the story took a surprising turn.
The ending was a bit sloppy and the level plummeted, pulling down the previous level and high-quality foreshadowing.
I believe that the original book of this film must be wonderful.
2. Conception:
The hardships of the three women and their self-awakening of consciousness are the real highlights of the movie. (It's feminism again!)
Although they are in developed countries in the West, the three women in the film have the same state of mind as women in underdeveloped countries, struggling in the primary stage of feminism.
Rachel felt the sky was falling because she couldn't have children. After the divorce, she could not get out of the shadow of marriage failure.
After the third Anna took the position and gave birth to a child, she devoted herself to the child. Knowing that her husband is cheating, she adopts an ostrich attitude for the sake of her children.
Meghan died unexpectedly because of her youth and confusion. Unable to get rid of the guilt, her life is rotten, and she encounters scumbags again and again. Even if she encounters true love, she still seeks stimulation.
3. Narrative: Cut from the perspective of three women, one person at a time
The director cuts in from the perspectives of the three heroines, each of whom speaks for a period, and the timeline is still in flashbacks (still a linear narrative). After 1 hour, it was closed and the mystery was revealed.
The rhythm for the first hour was fine, but the second 1/3 was poorly shot due to plot issues, which seemed both short and unreasonable.
4. Photography: The photography part of the whole film is high score
for the control of light and light source in place and brilliant. The trains, trees and figures sculpted with natural light are very soft tones, while creating different atmospheres of the shots, ranging from the typical British fog to the dangerous jungle.
The three women in the film, under the shaping of different light, show their unique personality charm: one is dazed and fragile, the other is sexy and fickle, and the other is tough and pragmatic.
5. Actors: Three women in one play
1. Emily Blunt: This time, she sacrificed her color, almost all of them were painted with heavy dark circles, village red on her cheeks, and she was slightly drunk all day. Whether it's performance anxiety or embarrassment, acting is more natural, but it's a pity that she looks good.
2. Hailey Bennett: 89 years of sexy responsibility, beauty and temptation are enough.
3. Rebecca Ferguson: The long legs in the opera house in "Mission Impossible 5" are impressive, this time as long as Meimei plays a housewife.
6. Original
novel : Author Paula Hawkins, who has no marriage, no money and no job, originally wanted to make money by writing online articles. She wrote four romantic comedy novels in one go, but she didn't make any money.
Angrily, Paula felt that there was no market for novels that praised the truth, the good and the beautiful, and that there was no market for romantic love novels. So there is this novel.
The Girl on the Train was a success upon its release, spending 20 weeks on the UK book bestseller list and 13 weeks in the US, and as of 2016 sold more than 11 million copies worldwide.
7. Popular Science: Linear Narrative and Nonlinear Narrative
1. Linear Narrative: A classic narrative method, which focuses on the integrity of the story, the unity of time and space, the causality of the plot, and the coherence of the narrative, which is easy for the audience to accept.
*Flashbacks count as linear narratives, and the purpose is to better serve the linear narratives of
chronology. This film belongs to this kind of *For the tension of the plot, only multi-line chronological advancement can also be regarded as linear narratives
2. Non- linear narratives Linear narrative: Non-linearity is the omission, repetition, and reversal of time, and flashback is its main means. The main starting point of non-linear narration is the psychology of the characters, not the reality. With the memory of the characters jumping in time and space at will, the plot is incomplete, the ending changes from a single determination to an ambiguous, and the contingency is enhanced.
1) Non-linear narrative is divided into non-linear single-line and non-linear multi-line.
2) Non-linear single line: incomplete narratives with single clues including breaks, omissions and flashbacks, such as "MOMENTO", "Irrevocable", etc., adopting a gradual retrospective method, splitting the complete story into paragraphs and then flashing back, making the story confusing .
3) Non-linear multiple lines: multi-layered narrative (Rashomon), dual time and space (Godfather 2), parallel time and space (Lola Run), multi-theme progression (cloud map), etc.
Passable suspense movies, European style, you can download and watch if you like.
