A non-indulgent theme love story

A racial themed theme film with a different entry point, at least in my viewing experience. The title of the film, Loving, is naturally a pun. The hero and heroine from the character design to the separate plot lines of the two support the overall framework of the film. The heroine's plot line actually has a relatively clear progression. When faced with these problems, as a black person, she can move towards her goal more purely and move forward. And the line of the male protagonist is a thread that I personally think is more meaningful. First of all, as a white man who is integrated into the black community, even if he is accompanied by his beloved wife, he is still very entangled in his heart about what he has seen, heard and felt. Especially in the final trial of the Supreme Court, the choice of the hero makes me feel that there is a dialectical relationship between the contradiction and connection between the coercion of the big era and the choice of the small person.

I watched this movie entirely because of the Oscar nomination. After watching it, I personally feel that the performances of the male and female protagonists are very convincing. The character of Ruth Negga, from the youthful beginning, to the fear and overwhelm in the face of power, to the helplessness of being far away from relatives, and then to the firmness after that, the emotions progressed layer by layer. , the performance is a bit of a touch. And Joel Edgerton's performance can be summed up in the word "tangled" very accurately. As a white man, the tangle of integrating into the black community; as a husband and father, the tangle of being unable to protect one's own family...

Loving may not be the most brilliant movie in Hollywood in 2016. The rhythm control of the film in the middle and later stages is indeed a little delayed. But personally I think this is a movie worth watching. It does not lie in the political or romantic nature of the film, but in its restraint. It does not indulge in the topics and opinions that I want to discuss. For this alone, it is rare.
