It took two nights to watch the first season. The whole drama is in my favorite tune. Four stars are given to the overall production, and another half star is added for the male lead.
Movies about gangsters are generally easier to look better, because the setting of the theme itself is full of various possibilities. A successful Black Gang organization is actually a well-run organization, and the boss of the Black Gang is actually the CEO of a large company. This organization also has a set of rules and regulations in operation, but it is different from the normal world, so the most common sentence in this type of movie: it is just business-it is not personal. But because the gang’s ultimate means of dealing with problems is Killing, so how can it not be personal? Good gangster movies generally have the following elements: the process of brand creation, there must be a game with various forces in black and white, and blood feuds; the boss’s wisdom and courage, management mind and Leadership, as well as indispensable personal charm; a huge family and various complicated relationships and trivial matters in it; a deep but endless love; background music that complements each other.
Peaky blinders, there are people in history, they are gangs in Birmingham, England after the First World War in the 20th century. The first season is well-made, from the set designs of taverns, streets, and piers, to the hairstyles and clothes of the characters, and the gloomy industrial background, which suddenly brings people into the life of the lower class of England in that era.
Although the plot of the story is ups and downs, it can't be said to be better than similar stories. What I like is the male lead's setting and Cillian Murphy's interpretation. The Shelbys, is a family with four sons, the eldest is brave, the third is young and naive, the fourth is still a child, and Thommy is the second. Because of his calm mind and wisdom, he gradually became a leader in family affairs. . There is also a younger sister in the family, Ada, who is in love with Cillian's childhood, Freddie, who is also a communist, and a very powerful aunt Polly who is like a mother. Tommy, a multi-layered character, is the best part of this show. In this season, Tommy fights with the police chief Inspector Campbell, wrestles with several black gangs, and finally falls in love with the bar girl who appears to be a tavern, but is actually the police undercover Grace. Tommy is cold-blooded, reticent, conscientious, resolute, and extreme personal will; Tommy, who is alone, is disturbed by nightmares every night because of the PTSD brought to him by World War I, so he can only solve it with opium. Even though he treats his family and friends, he has a lot of love and care, of course, in his own way, such as Danny’s manslaughter of an Italian gangster, Freddie’s love affair with Ada, his brother John’s obsession, and his elder brother Arthur’s. Desperate, all these messy relationships and affairs were solved by him one by one, and how much responsibility, affection and care were hidden in it.
Cillian Murphy can play this character to many levels. Although he is often only expressionless, his eyes are always firm and deep, sometimes sharp as a blade, and sometimes hollow and cold, making it impossible to ponder. Cillian Murphy described Tommy in the "Guardian" interview-"Godless," Murphy calls him. "Unafraid to die. Deep down, maybe wishing to die. Which makes him terrifying, you know?" But in many cases, he also has Many ordinary people have the fear of death, loss of family members, and even failure itself, which makes this character plump.
Tommy and Grace's love should be a bright color in the entire dark background movie, and it is Tommy's warmest sustenance. But I really feel that Grace did not choose the actor well. Maybe it is a matter of image. I always feel a bit inconsistent, and there seems to be a lack of chemistry between the two roles. It is not satisfactory.
The other thing about this drama is the background music. It is estimated that when Peaky Blinders is mentioned in the future, it should be the theme song.
Continue to watch the next few seasons.
