Short Review - Twin Peaks S01

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve watched less old dramas, but the biggest feeling after watching this season is that its structure is not the usual chapter narrative of new dramas, and there is no obvious sense of ups and downs. The overall sense of departure, and the multi-line narrative that is like stripping cocoons, is characterized by the scene as a unit to explain the plots of different story lines in sequence, and uses a large number of medium and close-up shots to fully show the emotional details of the actors. More direct methods of fading and stacking are used, and there are fewer transitions.
In the handling of the story, its maverick mysticism is eye-catching, especially the many important plot twists led by the protagonists Cooper and the Palmer family, which are mostly intuition, epiphany and even synaesthesia as an opportunity, which is quite intriguing , of course, the screenwriter also set up the purely deductive method of Donna and his party as a balance, but this side is mostly used as a footnote for the integrity of the story, and has not played a decisive role.
In general, as far as the first season is concerned, except for Hank who only appeared in the second half and the masked man who is still in the shadows, the characters of the main characters in the play are basically established, and the distinction is high and vivid and delicate; The relationship between them is also basically sorted out, which further contains a critique of fetishism and dehumanization in the context of capitalist industrialization. The above two aspects are the focus of this season's narrative, but the core suspense and the worldview based on this have not been revealed much, so there is still a big tail at the end of the season. I hope Lynch can use the 22 episodes in the second season. The space first explains the worldview clearly, and basically solves the main story, and finally gives each character story a reasonable ending.
