On October 31, 2011, under the advocacy of the Chinese government, China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand decided in Beijing to establish a Mekong River Basin Security Law Enforcement Cooperation Mechanism.
On November 3, 2011, the Ministry of Public Security, Yunnan Provincial Public Security Bureau, Xishuangbanna Prefecture Public Security Bureau and relevant domestic law enforcement departments formed a joint task force for the "10.5" case.
On April 25, 2012, the "10.5" case joint task force arrested the main culprit, Nuo Kang, in Poqiao Province, Laos.
On March 1, 2013, the main criminals of the case, Nuokang, Sangkang Chasa, Yilai, and Tashika, were executed in Kunming, Yunnan.
