Last weekend, I rummaged through the major cinemas in Changchun on my mobile phone, and finally found the 2D version of "The Bourne 5" in a cinema, but it was a fly in the ointment, This movie is dubbed in Mandarin, which is a small loss for fans like me who like the original sound. The reason why I went to look for it is because the 3D version of this film was criticized by the media and film critics at the beginning of its release. Film critic Zhang Xiaobei said that the person who decided to convert the film into a 3D version was definitely Crazy, film critic Tao Tao Linlin thinks it is too much to describe it as crazy, it should be said to be a wolf-hearted dog.
Why did the film critics react so violently? There are two points, one is that the style of this film is not suitable for the 3D version. The "Bourne Bourne" series of movies are god-like works in my mind, and this movie is just as good as its image style. What style? In the vernacular, it means shaking, shaking so much, it's like watching a battlefield documentary. Then there is the sharp editing, so that the protagonist's movements are so fast that you can't see clearly, which is completely different from the Hong Kong kung fu movies. Some people say that the advantages of Hong Kong kung fu films have disappeared since the beginning of "Bourne Bourne". After this, the actors can have no martial arts skills, but they can still play dazzlingly. Then we understand why this film is not suitable for the 3D version. Let’s put it this way, we are sick of watching the 2D version of this movie. If we watch the 3D version, we will basically vomit, so there is a warm reminder from the media, please watch it on an empty stomach this video.
The second issue that has caused intense criticism from film critics is that this so-called 3D version is not true 3D, but pseudo 3D. What is pseudo 3D? It is that this film was not shot with a 3D camera from the beginning, but the 2D version was later converted into a 3D version. What's the difference? The difference is big. The real 3D movies (representative works are "Avatar" and "The Fantastic Drifting of the Young Pi"), from the very beginning, were shot with the goal of showing the 3D effect, all the scenes and the actors' movements must serve the final effect, Coupled with a professional 3D camera, only in this way can a true three-dimensional effect be captured. And what about the later conversion? Because I didn't plan to shoot 3D at the beginning, I didn't think about 3D image presentation from photography to performance. When I converted to 3D in the later stage, not only the stereoscopic effect was not good, but the light of the film was dark and it looked pitch black. Even some shoddy 3D movies, only the subtitles are three-dimensional.
The most annoying thing is not this, if your later re-engineered 3D version of "The Bourne Bourne 5" makes fans all over the world sick, we will endure it, this is still a "special" Chinese 3D version. What do you mean? It's only shown in China. If any foreign movie fan has a tendency to be abused, they have to buy a ticket to China to enjoy it. Can this be called discrimination? Are the eye structures of our Chinese fans different?
In recent years, more and more imported movies have been converted into 3D versions, and in addition to imported blockbusters, domestic movies are also keen to make 3D versions, of course, they are all converted later. And most of the movies don't need 3D at all. For example, the "Cold War 2" released not long ago, the whole movie is to talk about, what 3D? So why are domestic and foreign film producers keen to dump 3D movies into China? There is a saying that people in the Chinese movie market have more money, and 3D version movie tickets are more expensive. But the audience can't stay stupid forever, so Chinese audiences already know what 3D is all about, and 3D movies are still emerging at this time, so it's not entirely the audience's problem.
There is a question of policy support here. Before 2012, the mainland could see about 20 imported account-sharing blockbusters every year. After 2012, 14 new Hollywood blockbusters were added. However, the extra 14 films are introduced in the form of "special films" - the so-called special films are films that must be in 3D or IMAX format. This means that Hollywood production companies can specially convert some of their films to go through this special channel in order to keep the import quota of their other films. Compared with the high-cost real 3D or IMAX, the later-transformed 3D version is much cheaper, so Hollywood production companies resolutely embarked on this road of chicken thieves. It can be said that the policy forced some movies into 3D movies. Behind the policy is a doubled box office and an expanding 3D screen.
Hollywood movies are all three-dimensional, and domestic movies can’t always be flat, right? In order to encourage the 3Dization of domestic films, the government has introduced a welfare subsidy policy, with bonuses ranging from 1 million to 10 million depending on the box office. The two domestic 3D movies "Wolf Totem" and "Taking Tiger Mountain by Wisdom" have been rewarded with 10 million yuan. With the support of such policies, it is not difficult to understand that 3D movies are emerging one after another, and Hollywood has to provide Chinese 3D movies specially in order to save the quota. Forgot to mention, it is said that there is a high-sounding reason for making 3D versions. It is said that 3D versions of movies can effectively prevent piracy.
After watching "Avatar" that year, I cried out excitedly: "I used to regret watching movies, and I felt that I didn't catch up with an epoch-making movie. For example, "Singing in the Rain" from silent to sound, such as "Black and white" to color "Singing in the Rain" "Gone with the Wind", such as "Star Wars", which represents the technological revolution, if you watch these movies at the time, the qualitative change will definitely be shocking. Now "Avatar" makes up for this regret, 3D plus IMAX, this is the direction of future movies. Let the 2D movies made on 35cm film tremble! Soon they will follow in the footsteps of film cameras!”
In today's movie market, I feel that I have to apologize to Nolan and Quentin for sticking to film and 2D versions. The misuse of technology for quick success has made us lose the film itself. Today's so-called blockbusters do not have the creativity of the story, there is no solid plot, all the money is invested in the stars and 3D, we are facing piles of visual garbage in the dark theater, but only the eyeballs are trembling. It must be admitted that some of the filmmakers' hearts and minds are fed by us.
