Both of them also have the lack of fatherly love. In contrast, Roy is happy, so in the story, Roy is a happy, cheerful and brave boy. Nathan, on the other hand, shows jealous unease, looks like a frightened deer, is smart but cannot protect himself, and can only escape from his father's harassment.
