20 Years of Expected Changes

It has been 20 years since Independence Day.
For our generation, Independence Day movies can actually be regarded as a unique memory of our boyhood, because Independence Day is the era when we first began to encounter Hollywood special effects blockbusters. For example, the cannon that destroyed a city at once, and the last brave pilot who collided with the enemy and died with the enemy. To some extent, it counts as the collective subconscious of a generation. Even the plane behind "Metal Slug 2" that flew to the exit of the alien flying saucer is a spoof of this movie. It can be said that the film "Independence Day" is the first time to show all Chinese people what a Hollywood special effect film is. So for the audience at that time, it was actually full of emotions.
Tell me about the movie. Speaking of highlights, without Will Smith, it's really not too much. The visual effects are actually quite good, and the feeling of the spaceship covering the earth is really present. Angelababy does play a role in it, and there are also emotional scenes. Of course, there are also many Mandarin scenes. It's just... it's just... When the few Chinese in it translated into Mandarin using the Hollywood screenwriter's idea, I really felt a little embarrassed. But Hollywood is really paying more and more attention to the Chinese market, adding a lot of Mandarin bridges. It feels like more than Now You See Me 2. The other is feelings, the old president Bill Pullman 20 years later, as well as Jeff Goldblum and his dad, many characters in the original work have appeared. In addition, the plot, in terms of script structure, character settings, and theme, is very similar to the original Independence Day. So, if you want to watch it for your feelings, there should still be a lot of things to watch.
Speaking of the director, the director is still Roland Emmerich 20 years ago. In fact, my favorite work is his "2012", but this is a digression. Seriously, visually, there is nothing wrong with this film. All kinds of special effects are great. However, it is already 20 years later in 2016, and special effects have long been not the first element of our movie watching, or even the main element. So aside from the vision, compared with the first one, we can see that the main creator still tries his best to make a story of that era, but in fact the hearts of the audience have changed. Obviously there are, the president's speech, everyone joins the army, escapes in a thrilling way, some people sacrifice themselves, and the whole world turns to safety. Why does it look different from before?
In 1996, computer knowledge was not a kind of general knowledge, and people's imagination about aliens and alien societies was not so rich. So, after hijacking alien planes, Americans and aliens had long been in contact, they went deep into the mothership to release viruses, and used computer viruses to disintegrate the aliens' shields. After three days of telling the story, Independence Day became the world's Independence Day , rendering the US President's pre-war mobilization speech, etc., which were very avant-garde ideas at the time. And it is this kind of avant-garde that makes people feel that the script is also very innovative and willing to read it. In fact, the visual shock, in the final analysis, only played a role in fueling the flames (but the best visual effect of the Oscars that year was "Independence Day").
However, if you use the ideas and stalks 20 years ago, and use them to the current audience, then It's really a bit old. Today's audiences have been baptized by many science fiction films, and they are people in the Internet age. They will naturally ask some intuitive questions. For example, since aliens can sweep many planets, why are their combat techniques so underdeveloped? So that the queen bee, who decides the ownership of the entire worm nest, will expose herself so freely? Twenty years ago, it wasn't really a problem, because we haven't seen many movies, we just pay attention to special effects, it's hard to think of such a problem. But viewers who have watched many war movies, although they may not realize it, will have a little doubt in their hearts: This is not quite right... Of course, this is only a minus of 1 point. Then, why are aliens capable of interstellar travel, but are so backward in information technology that a spacecraft with a master computer can be stolen and driven by the earthlings at will without changing the software level? Twenty years ago this was not a problem, but anyone who has used a computer now knows the concept of user permissions (because it counts usernames and passwords), and all computers are connected to the Internet. So here comes the point again: it's not quite right here...one more point. Okay, then it's the President's speech. The President's speech is quite right, but why does it feel that it is not the way to speak in this era. It turns out that we have passed the era of heroism and collectivism, and now we are moved by individualistic parents and humanistic concerns. So I secretly said in my heart: It's not quite right... I will deduct one more point. So the deduction is deducted, and these points are deducted very low.

For the main creative team, the most important thing is to face the audience 20 years later, and still choose the same level of stalks as that year. For example, the stalk was 1 in the past, and it may be 2 now. But 20 years later, the audience may really see 20, or it may not be a number at all, but the letter E. Compared with the audience's expectations, this 2 is obviously not enough.

dramatic. Is there anything to say...Once you accept this setting...you can't accept it at all! There are also gay couples in there!

I watched the video in advance, and I felt that it was not as good as 1. After 20 years, the alien’s technology has only improved the operation interface, but the American technology is almost the same as the aliens. How about giving them support for some Silicon Valley engineers (• ̅_•̅)

The big vulgar movies of chatting on QQ, drinking Mengniu, and hitting aliens show the reaction of high-level officials, soldiers, and people from all walks of life to aliens attacking the earth. The group drama corresponds to the "unity" emphasized by the former president. The narrative, special effects, and speech are in the same pace as 20 years ago. Looking at the old-fashioned autumn from the current perspective, this is indeed the American theme that Emmerich loves. After seeing the green screen rough cut, I finally decided to cut off the AB sentence "Uncle Jiang, you won't die in vain".
