A journey of self-reflection in The Diary of Adela

The film is based on the memoir of the same name, and it remembers the real thing.
There are two lines in the original work:
First, the famous programmer Hans was accused of killing his wife. Although there was a lot of adverse evidence, he strongly denied it. The case takes a turn when Sean, the deceased's old lover and Hans' friend, suddenly admits that he has committed 8 murders that no one knows about.
2. Stephen Elliot (the original author) as a reporter covered the entire trial process of the case. But Stephen's life was a mess on his own addictive drug Adderall. As he pursues the case, he embarks on a journey of self-reflection.

The movie basically only takes the second line, and the first line only plays the role of inducing Stephen to reflect on himself, and Sean does not appear at all, so I want to watch the introduction nervously! Stimulate! Thriller! Suspense! Wife Murder viewers... will be disappointed.

Putting down the expectations of action films and suspense films and re-watching this film, I personally think it's okay.

Stephen is a well-known writer, but fragments of childhood memories still flash through his mind from time to time. In these memories, he was abused and abused by his father, and lived a chaotic and painful childhood. So he translates this full of hatred into words, and he writes about the tragic death of the old bastard over and over again in the story.
But one day, at the reading of his new work, Dad suddenly appeared and exposed his lies in front of everyone present, saying that he pretended to be poor and famous to cheat money. For a time, Stephen's personal credit and sales of works fell to the bottom.
Stephen thinks tm you ruined my childhood and you want to ruin my future? ! ! (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻ Angry Stephen is frantically... with his new girlfriend, taking drugs, racing cars, racing with other girls, with his new girlfriend, punching with his girlfriend, and racing with his new girlfriend , ML with other girls, ML with new girlfriend, drag racing, ML with new girlfriend, drug use... In short, all kinds of indulgence and catharsis... And he also plays sm, he is the one of m...

In the process, he did not forget to attend and investigate Hans' case. Hans claims how much he loves his children and how vicious his wife is. However, evidence shows that Hans refused to pay the child's medical bills several times, and the child was not close to him at all. After being convicted, Hans also shouted that he was the best father!
Stephen thought it was very funny, didn't Hans feel the same as his asshole dad! Obviously doing bad things, and using various excuses to cover up that he is doing good things, anyway, it is others who are wrong, and he is the kind and innocent victim.

However, in the confrontation with his father, in the dislike of his friends, and in the departure of his girlfriend, Stephen gradually discovered: Hey, it seems that he is the bastard. He found that his memory was not the truth of the matter, but a story that had been edited or even tampered with, a story that benefited him. He has always put himself in the position of the victim, complaining and taking no responsibility.
I don't remember the reason why I made my father angry, I only remember that my father was rough with me. He obviously stole the chain from his friend, but he changed it into a gift from his friend. And he played SM out of the mentality of "I'm a victim", and his girlfriend broke up after almost strangling him because he saw through it.

The next episodes can also be predicted. After the father was almost mad, Stephen deeply regretted it. After various reflections and reconciliations, he had a rather happy ending. (Otherwise, how to write a book~) In

conclusion, this film tells us:
1. When encountering conflicts, don’t just blame others, but think about whether you have done something wrong and can improve. Avoidance is the behavior of the weak. Only by facing the flaws and addressing them can you become a better version of yourself.
2. Don’t get too excited for the elderly, it’s not good for the heart╮(╯▽╰)╭

PS. The young Stephen is a little handsome~ But I’m obviously a fan of my father’s brain →_→
PSPS. The next paragraph is particularly handsome (≖ิ‿≖ิ.)

  • [last lines]

Stephen Elliott: You remember when you taught me to drive? I was 14. You let me drive out to Warren park in a '69 mustang. I loved that car. You used to take me out, let me drive. I remember feelin' so happy and free, full of hope and potential.

Neil Elliott: I don't know why you always told people I taught you to drive in the mustang. It was a red 1968 Oldsmobile Delmont convertible, in Warren park in the parkin' lot. You were belligerent, and you were a terrible driver. So we only did it once.

Stephen Elliott: Wanna go for a drive? I don't wanna see you for an hour.

Neil Elliott: Nah, we'd just argue.

Stephen Elliott: Fine. Then we'll just go. We'll agree not to talk. It doesn't matter. None of it matters.

Neil Elliott: All right. You gotta help me up here. Help your old dad get up...
