The second flip was abrupt, resulting in the ending lacking some power and becoming vague. The characters also lost their halo, and in the end I didn't know what the film was going to express, the evil of human nature? If so, the theme is repeatedly overwhelmed by dramatic suspense. In the final analysis, Roy had no motive for disguising, or the disguise was actually a failure and should have been discovered earlier. If Roy is so smart, why did he get caught in the first place? Can't we just do a more perfect murder case? Because there is no reason for him to be deliberately arrested to provoke the police and lawyers. And after acting in court, if they gained the trust of the majority, why did they forget the suspiciousness of Roy's statement about the third person at the beginning? The ending line reveals that Linda was also killed by him, so what can it do? There are many inconsistencies in the play that need to be solved urgently, but they are not resolved.

Edward Norton had such good acting skills when he was young! Split professional households! Pure top!

Martin Vail: [sitting with Jack Connerman in a bar] Why gamble with money when you can gamble with people's lives? That was a joke. All right, I'll tell you. I believe in the notion that people are innocent until proven guilty. I believe in that notion because I choose to believe in the basic goodness of people. I choose to believe that not all crimes are committed by bad people. And I try to understand that some very, very good people do some very bad things.

Janet Venable: [aggressively to Aaron on the witness stand] Do you know what I would do if someone did that to me? I would kill him, I wouldn't hesitate. I would stab him 78 times. I would chop off his fingers, slash his throat open, carve numbers in his chest, gouge out his eyes, I swear to God!... But that's me.
