I want to be your George Sand

When the Countess shouted from behind: "She will kill him!", it all just started. Accompanied by his cough, the carriage took Chopin and George Sand away gradually, heading for sunny Spain. The tender oboe sounded, the end credits appeared, and the real story had to be imagined.

In my opinion, the most moving part of the whole film comes after the long and tiresome ramblings of the aristocrats and artists. George Sand and Chopin spent a few days alone in the countryside, and they showed a love that was so pure that there was no trace of eroticism.

Whenever I see those relationships where the roles seem to be reversed in the world, I am always moved to tears. That slender, fragile, sensitive, iron-clad, and frightening soul will always make me eager to give everything for it. Have you ever wanted to pursue you, even if it seemed so ridiculous to others. Maybe the incompatibility is destined to make us lose each other, but I am still willing to be the strong person in this relationship, and the most gentle pure land behind me is only you.

Impromptu quotes

  • Franz Liszt: [as God] Hurry, Noah, to the Ark, and fill it with two each of the creatures of land, sea, and air.

George Sand: [as Noëtte] Lord, we have no need for animals - art alone will save the world. Let's see, we'll need two of everything: two poets, two painters, two musicians...

Franz Liszt: [as God] Impossible, they will not come. Your conversation is not witty and you have no ideals.

George Sand: [as Noëtte] Ha ha, true, but we shall also give them free food and lodging for forty days and forty nights. Now, we shall also need two playwrights, two composers, two makers of velvet flowers...

  • Marie D'Agoult: You won't get him with a dress; on the contrary, my dear. I know the man. He is not a man; he is a woman. He is all emotion and refinement. He has very few defenses. You must win him as a man wins a woman; if anyone can do it, you can, George.
