just to record feelings

Whether the abolition of slavery was Lincoln's original intention, or his failed attempt to unify the country, it does not detract from his contribution to liberty and equality, and it is all based on respect for law and procedure on the basis of. Great Lincoln!

Spielberg's films still show an emphasis on humanities and history, and the film's narrative structure is rigorous and the focus is clearly visible. It's just that the large dialogue makes the pace a bit slow and dull. Except for this movie starring Daniel Day Lewis, I have only seen "Love in Prague" and "a room with a view", and I always think he is the kind of hero with a strong literary atmosphere and a little neurotic. But this movie gave me a glimpse of his skill, and his ability to quietly focus his attention on him no matter how chaotic the situation, his thin voice, but his unquestionable aura.

I don’t know if it’s because of my age. Spielberg didn’t surprise me from the war horse here. Even the three-win actor Daniel has always been known as one of the best actors. Who can replace Ben? He in the film? Perhaps only what he mentioned during the awards: "Lincoln originally wanted to choose Aunt May!"

Finally, there is such a film that can make Uncle Si no longer pay attention to the epic narrative pattern, but return to the characterization and the interpretation of the spirit of the times. DDL holds three little golden guys, and Aunt Sally makes people play too much.

Lincoln quotes

  • [Giving a speech at a dedication, Lincoln stands beside the flagpole, and with great ceremony takes off his hat, removes a piece of paper from inside and unfolds it, then puts on his glasses]

Abraham Lincoln: [reading] The part assigned to me is to raise the flag which, if there be no fault in the machinery, I will do. And, when up, it shall be for the people to keep it up.

[takes off his glasses and re-folds the paper]

    Abraham Lincoln: That's my speech.

    [laughter]

  • Abraham Lincoln: [greeting a pair of visitors from Jefferson City] I heard tell once of a Jefferson City lawyer who had a parrot that would wake him each morning crying out 'today's the day the world shall end as scripture has foretold'. And one day, the lawyer shot him for the sake of peace and quiet I presume, thus fulfilling, for the bird at least, his prophecy.

    [the guests don't laugh]
