A movie about temperature

"Room" tells the story of a mother and child, with warmth.
The whole movie is completed in winter. The cold environment and the hidden warmth narrative constitute a beautiful contrast, which makes this movie. At the same time, the constantly changing temperature keeps this movie in my viewing experience in the form of perception.

There is no doubt that all narratives begin in one incident. The abnormal uncle abducted a seventeen-year-old girl and imprisoned her in the backyard for seven years. During the seven years of daily violence and sexual abuse, the girl survived desperately and became a mother. Accompanied by his son, become the only life in the constricted space. At this moment, the limited space constitutes all of the reality within their reach, and the real world becomes a false fantasy in the enclosed darkness. Mother is adapting to this kind of survival, out of human nature. Son, it is natural to experience being a person in such a situation. In short, this kind of life seems incredible, but there is no need to break it.

Until, one day, the perverted uncle cut off the power in desperation. When the cold hit, the escape plan of the mother and son seemed to have a clever start. The sudden cold caused little Jack's breathing to collide with nature (perhaps for the first time), and the resulting white breath made him excitedly tell his mother-Mom, I am a dragon. Touched by the cold, mother gave up the illusory world made up of lies, and began to resist the imprisoned life. The resistance was wrapped in mother-like perseverance. For the first time, she told her son the true past. She used a hot towel. Pressing tightly on her son's forehead, she wrapped the child's body with a blanket, and shouted hysterically that she should be stiff, stiff like a dead person. In the end, the "dead" let them escape the room.
On the surface, the experience of the son jumping, running away, and calling for help rescued the mother in the room. In fact, it was also the mother who saved the son at the same time. In a sense, the moment she chose to expose the lie and resisted to survive, she became a real mother, a lioness who asked the little lion to forage alone. And the power that the lioness bursts out is a ball of flames in that desperate winter.
The momentary passion and speed allowed the mother and son to successfully get out of the room. However, the heroine who escaped from the physical evil space once again fell into the inner demon. The nightmare of seven years was stimulated like never before at the moment of waking up from the dream. The warm sunlight burned like a purgatory in the eyes of those who lived in the dark. In fact, most people are still the pianist at sea, never daring to take the step of disembarking, so the strong appeal to go home is a metaphor for the infinite fear in the heart. However, there is no turning back in the world, just like the warm and safe womb that we can never go back to.
What did the mother see when she walked out of the "room"? The desolation of human beings is the original family and the divorced parents who can never go back; the mottled nightmare is the misfortune that has been delayed for seven years, like a shadow. The crippled son is evidence of the cruel memory of the association, and the emotions that erupt at any time condense his love and hatred for his son. This is a reasonable burst of human cowardice, selfishness, cruelty, truthfulness and tenderness. It's just that even if you have your pain, the lives of others are still calm, as always. The warmth of anticipation will inevitably fail in anticipation. If the main theme of the movie is to accompany people from loneliness and coldness, then the lack of the self-subject's ability to feel warmth will also make people fall into hell. Until the life-saving motherhood is also faltering in the moral questioning of media reporters. Therefore, the heroine who did not give up her life in the cage chose to commit suicide. The movie also turned to the long-term struggle of trapped beasts from a free posture similar to the great "flying over the lunatic asylum". The warmth that the movie had just built was instantly disintegrated. Those who get out of the predicament can't help but go to the predicament again. It seems indistinguishable whether it is destiny or humanity, but it is an eternal cycle.

However, there is a special identity in the world called mother. A life body that will not die easily, a life body that has the same blood line as the outside world through the umbilical cord, and a soul-corresponding life body.

Toddlers who wake up in their sleep always rub their eyes and call to their mother. This is human nature. Before this, I always felt that as long as people can shout for their mothers, they are happy and lucky. The instinctive search once again saved my mother's life. The movie monologue said that my mother forgot that I wanted to go to heaven, but fortunately I was thrown back by the aliens.

Both mother and son, who have experienced life and death struggles, have undergone subtle changes in their lives. The mother became calm and the son became cheerful. The son gave the incarnation of power to his mother with a handful of long hair, so there was the warm dialogue of the movie.

"I'm not a good mother"
"However, you are a mother."

Yes, you are a mother. This is enough for me to share the power of survival with you. It can be said that this movie is about mother and child growing up together and redeeming each other. There is no so-called complete maternal selflessness, and there is no complete child's innocence and tenderness. Time is left to every mother-child relationship, which is a dynamic hand in hand, in quarrel, hug and warm cry. After watching the movie, thank you to each other.

Of course, regarding the memory of past pain, it seems that there is still a lack of a true farewell. Just as a movie needs an accountable ending. At the end of the movie, the mother and son returned to the room full of black memories again.

In that dark, blocked, and cold cabin, Jack touched the objects he used to say goodbye, affectionately. No matter what, this is his childhood, a childhood full of security and warmth with his mother. You know, childhood can be a remote-controlled car and building blocks, or a small snake made of half an eggshell. Meandering memories, because of the warmth of the embrace of the two, it is no longer cold. In the lonely and fragile childhood of human beings, there is a strong body called a mother. One day, we no longer need mother’s breasts, mother’s hugs, mother’s hands, but the temperature that constitutes the deepest part of our memory and stays with us for a lifetime. I still remember that when "Farewell My Concubine" Miles Dieyi quit smoking, she shook her body and said, mother, I'm cold.

This is the perception of a space and the memory of temperature.

The first time we bid farewell to the physical room, we were still stiff and cold dead people. The second time, when we waved goodbye, we calmly touched the tenderness of the room and said bye room. At this time, we truly crossed the gulf of the soul and stepped out of that door.

People always look forward to better encounters and a more comfortable living environment. As everyone knows, embrace at this moment is the most true temperature.

Those people and things that can change the temperature of a place constitute my past life and all my wealth. So, I can live with it, all the time.

Room quotes

  • Old Nick: What's that smell?

Ma: Sorry, I burned some cheese. Here. I just wasn't thinking.

Old Nick: Well, thinking is not your strong suit.

  • Ma: [about the mouse] He's on the other side of this wall.

    Jack: What other side?

Ma: Jack, there's two sides to everything.

    Jack: Not on an octagon.

    Ma: Yeah, but...

Jack: [Interrupts] An octagon has eight sides

Ma: But a wall, okay, a wall's like this, see? And we're on the inside and mouse is on the outside.

    Jack: In outer space?

Ma: No, in the world. It's much closer than outer space.

    Jack: I can't see the outside-side.

Ma: Listen, I know that I told you something else before, but you were much younger. I didn't think that you could understand, but now you're so old, you're so smart. I know that you can get this. Where do you think that old Nick gets our food?

    Jack: From TV by magic!
