a very personal film

A large part of the story must have been the personal experience of the director and screenwriter named Emily Ting.
People who have had a similar experience just can't feel more empathy when they see it (just don't know how to put it right). The scenes and dialogues (full of sexual tension) that seem to be almost like the plot of a movie, like the stories around you and me, are actually the most naked restorations in the hearts of those who have experienced them (the second encounter is not known if it is made up). All the good things are presented in the minutes of getting along, that kind of rhythm that whenever you get close, you are pushed further by reality. It's really piercing. People who have had similar experiences will definitely remember what happened at that time. All the little details, and it feels like the time is really "flying" at that time (extremely desperate to hope that time can be paused, slower and slower). It's a pity that real life doesn't really start until the end of the movie, welcome back to reality.

Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong quotes

  • Ruby: I've always been intrigued with expats.

    Josh: Yeah?

Ruby: Yeah. I mean, they always gave the impression that living abroad is so glamorous. But when my grandparents immigrated to the States from Hong Kong, their journey is anything but glamorous.

    Josh: You see that?

    Ruby: Yeah?

Josh: That's my office right there.

Ruby: It almost makes it worth being a banker.

Josh: All those lights on in the offices. It's 11:00 in a Friday night. Those are all people working. It isn't as glamorous as it looks.

    Ruby: Guess not.

  • Josh: There's something very wrong with your city when the only good thing you have going for it is the weather.
