"Vietnam became a protectorate of France in 1884, and was occupied by Japan in World War II. After a long and arduous struggle, the Vietnamese people won the revolution in August 1945. On September 2, the Communist Party of Vietnam issued the "Declaration of Independence" , proclaimed the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In September of the same year, France invaded Vietnam again, and the Vietnamese people fought a war against France that lasted for 9 years. After the Viet Cong won the "Victory of Dien Bien Phu" in May 1954, France was forced to sign a contract in Geneva With the agreement on restoring peace in Indochina, the north of Vietnam was liberated, and the south was still ruled by France (the South Vietnamese regime supported by the United States was later established)." Since 1961, the government of northern Vietnam has begun to seek reunification, and the Paris Agreement was signed in 1973. In the same year, the United States The withdrawal of troops began in 1975, and the withdrawal was basically over. In 1976, Vietnam was unified. The whole process took 30 years.
