High Tide Coast: Finding the Dark Eye of Light

A quirky little girl, growing up freely in the wilderness. The sky is high and the birds can fly, the sea is wide and the fish leaps. It was in the countryside of New York, USA. The mother of the little girl Rose died of a heroin overdose and was taken to the farm in the countryside by her father. There are wild grass in the sky, boundless sunset, and free air. The unrestrained realm inspired Rose's inner fantasy, so she turned everything in front of her into a dream.

This is a very lovable little girl, and her dream world is extraordinarily romantic. It's just that in this world of few people, her father also died immediately, and there is almost only a little girl left in the whole world. No matter how beautiful the dream is, she must live in the end, and how can she live next? This is the terrifying question. Behind the dream is the boundless cold. The High Tide Coast, which requires a reversal of vision, is almost impossible to cross from one season to another.

Night gave me black eyes, but I use them to find light. In Rising Tide Shores, it's no longer a generational problem, but a child's dilemma. This weird movie, after watching it, is also abusive, grabbing the hearts of the audience, and it will not be calm for a long time.

Somewhat similar to "Pan's Labyrinth" and "Bridge to Wonderland", and also somewhat similar to the dark version of "Alice in Wonderland". The distance between reality and fantasy is very different, just like a little girl selling matches. Before she died, in the dim light of the matches, the magnificent fairyland she saw was the last trap she stepped into death. . Moreover, in a desperate situation, there is no way to retreat, and you can only stop in an illusion, from desperation to desperation, unstoppable. That's the saddest thing, poor Ross.

Rising Tide Coast is a weird movie, and Terry Gilliam is a weird director. Many of his works are difficult to get into the eyes of the Oscars and the Golden Globes, as well as the eyes of the three major European film festivals, but the psychedelic world he created has enabled him to have countless fans. The birth of "Rising Tide Coast" is itself a grotesque product. In 2004, Terry Gilliam was originally directing Matt Damon and Heath Ledger starring "The Brothers Grimm", but due to the sudden withdrawal of funds from the investor MGM during the filming, Wayne Stein Pictures took its place, and Terry Gilliam had some more schmoozing with the Weinstein brothers, which brought the entire movie to a standstill. In the 6 months that were vacated, Terry Gilliam was unwilling to be idle and filmed the work "Rising Tide Coast". Said to be fast food, but impressive. Jeff Bridges, one of the leading actors, even listed "Rising Tide Coast" in his top ten movies.

Going a little further, big directors occasionally play sketches during the filming of major productions, often showing their talents. Among them, there are also many excellent works. For example, Martin Scorsese is used to gangster films, and occasionally plays children's films. As a result, " Hugo is still a classic. In the process of filming "Evil in the East and Poison in the West", Wong Kar-wai worked with Liu Zhenwei to make a "East and West", which has also become a comedy classic. In the middle of the "Transformers" series, Michael Bay filmed a "Fitty Boys to Grab Money", although it is not a masterpiece, it is at the level of explosive shells, which can be regarded as full of fun. But there are also bad ones. For example, director Ang Lee directed a "Making Woodstock" in the middle of "Lust, Caution" and "The Fantasy Drift of the Young Pi". Zhang Yimou wanted to make a movie quickly after the Olympics, so he filmed "Three Shots and Shooting the Table Surprise", which turned out to be a disaster. There are so many examples of this that I won't list them, except that "Rising Tide Shore" was in the same situation, but it turned out to be a very good and excellent work.

However, it is a pity that Judy Fran, who plays the quirky little girl Ross in the film, did not go too far. There are so many people, and a good one hurts Zhongyong. Just like Haley Joel Osment, after starring in the immortal "The Sixth Sense" and "Artificial Intelligence", he suddenly became incapable of acting and never got up again. A good sigh.

The shock and regret of "Rising Tide Coast" are full of sighs. Although it has been a while since I watched this film, I am still impressed. At the moment of writing, Rose's image is alive again, wandering in front of her eyes, wanting to hug her.

Tideland quotes

  • Queen Gunhilda: It's your daddy's fault you were the way you were, not mine. 'Cause I loved you... lip smackin' little junkie baby. Irritable and hyperactive, you was, just twitchin' and spasms and convulsions. Your daddy blew smoke in your face to keep you quiet; you know that, mm hmm. I think it what damaged you, well don't blame me, cuz. I breast fed you forever... Jeliza Rose you know I love you, don't you? I'm sorry baby, I'm gonna do something real nice for you real soon some day, I promise.... What the fuck are you doin'? How many times do I have to tell you to stay away from my chocolate, you little bitch?... Oh honey, I don't want you to leave me, Jeliza Rose. I can't get by without you, Jeliza Rose.

  • Noah: [frantically] It was the methadone that killed her. Should have kept her on the junk. I should have just cut her dose and kept her on it. Now she's dead and... I don't have a car.

Jeliza-Rose: Please don't be sad. Now we can eat all her choc bars. Look...
