This is an anti-war work. From the quiet life at the beginning, the movie goes straight to the violence and blood of war, and the anti-war theme is ready to emerge in the strong contrast. When the war was approaching, everyone was anxious, desperate, fearful, and even crying, but helplessly marched forward under the orders of the general who was madly hungry for power. The life around him and the roaring guns accompanied them into hell step by step. The animals on the island are also entangled in this endless anxiety, where life is slaughtered and desecrated, and the last ray of hope that calls for God is also stifled by the reality around them. This is hell, if there is only one in the world, there is no hope in their world, there is only mutual killing, for false lies, the sacrifice of power. This is the only truth of war. Heroism is nothing more than a show of power struggle. Every individual's life will not receive the most basic respect in war. War is not division and reconstruction, but complete plunder and killing. The company commander who respected life was dismissed, and Witt, who saved his comrades, died tragically in the forest. Integrity and conscience will not show value here. The cruelty of war cannot be imagined by people in peaceful times. Love of peace is not just empty words, but the most basic humanitarianism.
