[Part One: Imprisonment and Escape]
This movie is two hours long, of which a full hour before, the lens is limited to a small shack of about ten square meters, but it is not indifferent at all. This must be attributed to the performance of the two actors playing the mother Joy and the child Jack and the use of the photographer's lens.
In the first half hour, the movie didn't tell us why Joy never took his son out of the room. If you don't know the introduction of the movie in advance, it will be a bit puzzled and even annoying when you watch it. It was not until the 30th minute that the mother told her son who had just celebrated their fifth birthday the reason why they had been in this room: It turned out that Joy was raped and imprisoned by a guy named Old Nick when he was only 17 years old 7 years ago. In this small shed, Jack later gave birth. During the period, Old Nick did not let them leave the room for one step, and only gave them the most basic living supplies, and also used Joy as a tool for venting their sexual desires. I think the mother should have deliberately waited until her son was five years old to explain everything to him, because she didn't want her son to understand the darkness of the world and the misfortunes she suffered when she was very young. Although at first Jack was very disgusted with this unpleasant story and cried and said, "I want to be four years old", but in the end he suffocated his breath and took apart the toy car given by Old Nick and threw it away. He also vowed. Kick him hard in the ass. At this time, I think most of the audience’s psychology should be the same as mine, changing from being incomprehensible to the behavior of the mother to hating criminals and sympathizing with both mother and son. Then, the mother and son began to implement their escape plan. However, the first plan failed.
Then Joy zoomed in. In fact, at the very beginning of the movie, Joy told his son a story. I think anyone who has watched "The Earl of Monte Cristo" should know that this is the story of Edmund's escape from prison and his revenge. This detail shows that the mother had already started planning to escape with this plan for a long time. (It seems that reading is still useful!) The development of things proceeded according to Joy's plan. When the little boy rolled out of the blanket and lay on the pickup truck, the expression on his face was the first time he saw the endless blue sky with his eyes. Surprised and happy, he must be thinking: "Mom didn't lie to me, the sky is real, not on TV." And I was thinking: "Child, don't watch, jump off the car!" Be a boy After being rescued by the police, the female police officer asked the boy's questions step by step and approached the truth and the criminals step by step. The tension and excitement created by the movie is really amazing!

[Part 2: Face and Hope]
Escape from the room may only be a matter of night, but how to face the life of the outside world is a matter of a lifetime. The little boy seems to be unfamiliar and afraid of the world, but he adapts more quickly. After all, he is only five years old; while the mother seems to be familiar with the world, but it is more difficult to adapt. After returning to my home after seven years, my parents have already separated from each other. The father in suit and leather shoes should have formed a new family. My mother lives with her boyfriend Leo and has a dog named Seamus, the best in high school. My friend hasn't heard from her-in the seven years without her, everything seems to be business as usual.
During a family dinner, Joy’s father was eating halfway and couldn’t eat it anymore. He said I’d better go back, so he got up and left without even telling Jack a word. He didn’t even want to look at Jack directly, even at Joy’s strong request. Down. Finally everyone broke up.
In frustration, Joy had a dispute with her mother. She believed that her mother did not understand everything she had experienced. She believed that her mother had lived well without her these years, and even blamed her mother for her education indirectly causing everything she suffered. , Until the mother cried out the sentence with tears in her tears: "Do you think you are the only person whose life has been ruined all these years?"

In order to help the mother in hospital to gain strength, Jack actively asked to cut off the long hair that he had been reluctant to cut for a long time, because he believed that hair was his strength, and now he wants to pass this strength to his mother. As my grandmother said: "No one can be strong alone, it is each of us who helps each other become stronger."
The mother who had recovered from the suicide initially responded to her son's request. The mother and son returned together to visit the "room" where they had been imprisoned for 7 years. Looking around the room, the child asked her mother puzzledly: "Is this still that room? Has it become smaller?" This question raised the theme of the movie from emotion to philosophy. Finally, the child said goodbye to the objects in the room one by one: "Goodbye chair, goodbye pool, goodbye toilet." Perfectly echoed the beginning of the movie, the boy after getting up and the objects in the room one morning: "Good morning chair, morning Good pool, good morning toilet." The
movie is over, and life continues. We are not sure that the little boy's future life and mental state will be smooth sailing, and there may be malicious people who will question his source and his father. We are even less sure if Joy will meet a man who truly loves her in the future and she can accept him without reservation, but at least the end of the film gives us hope: when a person can face the scars of the past, it is One of the signs that scars are healing and everything is getting better.
