A story about human nature

Some people say that this film is "the shell of nuclear war sci-fi, but inside is the heart of a rotten street love triangle..."
I don't think so.
This film is not a sci-fi gimmick, nor does it intend to express a low-level love triangle incident. Pulling away from the surface, this film is telling a story: when three people who are isolated and helpless live in the same room, will human beings still expose the ugly and weak side of their human nature, or abandon their selfishness and show great love. To express such a story, there must be a reasonable scene that allows the three to obtain such an environment. So: either the three people were left on the deserted island, or the world ended. Compared with the latter, the former is not as desperate and thorough as the latter. So I guess that's why the film is set after the end of the world. It can be said that this film is indeed not a science fiction film. Should humanistic stories that take place in the future be defined as science fiction? It should be said that the film was labelled a sci-fi by the audience.
Let's talk about the only three protagonists in the story: a girl, a scientist, and a miner.
Girl: Represents human sensibility. Born in a canyon farm, a young girl who was not deeply involved in the world, and who was just beginning to fall in love, began to take the initiative to embrace the scientist just after her arrival, and later fell in love with the miner without hesitation. But this is not frivolity, it is a need that includes normal physiological and psychological needs, and a need to be cared for in the helpless environment of the last days. But in any case, she did cause trouble for the other two men. A girl is actually a very special position. She is a kind of temptation, which can make people have the desire and courage to survive, but it often causes suspicion and even division among the same kind.
Scientist: It represents the rationality of human beings. The most rational person in this film is the scientist (in fact, there are only 3 people in total). When the girl takes the initiative to seduce, the scientist can still say "I want you, but we need time to strengthen our understanding..." This way If so, it's really rare - such a noble "Shen Du" - worthy of being a scientist. Just imagine, when there are only you and a charismatic opposite sex left in the world, and there are no social, legal and moral constraints, what will the two of you do? How many human values and moral values are left? Will there be only indulgence and animal nature left? However, what scientists say is still proving that I am a noble person, I have my own moral standards, although I like you, but before we go to bed, we must know each other, love each other, as the society tells us, before we go to bed. Together, I have to strictly abide by my moral bottom line... In addition, scientists have also demonstrated the great rationality of human beings in many ways. Both girls and miners have "belief", so the two of them will pray before cooking. Scientists are always watching them secretly, and demolishing the church also proves that scientists are actually people without "belief". This is a very clever point. In other words, scientists actually have beliefs. As mentioned above, although he does not seem to be loyal to God, scientists believe in science, reason and truth. Regardless of belief, the existence of belief is the driving force for the maintenance and development of human society.
When a scientist finds out that a girl and a miner are in a relationship, they tell the girl that they don't mind, it's even more appropriate for white people to be together; and to the miner that your behavior doesn't threaten me, this is a great The "great love" that scientists think of at this moment is only the maintenance and development of this group, and the personal relationship of their own children is nothing at all. Are scientists not selfish? No, because he also told the girl that he loves her, but that's all, at a critical moment, the scientist still chose to "build a power station" which is more important than these.
Miners: Represents human choices. The miner in the film is an "unstable factor" and a tangled character. His arrival destroys the seemingly beautiful world of the girl and the scientist, and at the same time, he has feelings for the girl. Even throughout the film, it feels like there will be infighting and cannibalism. Fortunately, however, it did not. He has maintained solidarity and close cooperation with scientists. This is a kind of praise and hope for human beings. Just imagine, if these three people lived in a normal society, and two people fell in love with the third person at the same time, would the two men still be so humble and courteous? Even if it is a scientist, I don’t think so. When social resources are abundant, people are more likely to have selfishness and opposition. On the contrary, when resources are scarce, human beings are more likely to abandon selfishness, unite, and have high cultural quality. Scientists have low cultural quality. The miners of 's also made the same choice-choose to leave and let this place return to the two-person world. This is the embodiment of the fundamental difference between humans and animals.
Oh, by the way, the film actually ends in a half-open way, which is very clever. The scientist pulled the miner who was about to fall into the cliff. Whether the miner fell into the cliff or not, the camera will not go into details. We only know from the mouth of the scientists that the miners left the place spontaneously. For the audience before the movie, what would you think, do you believe that scientists have always maintained their rationality, or do they kill their rivals for love? Like at the end of "Pi's Fantasy Drifting", do you want to believe in the existence of God, or do you choose to believe that Pi ate his mother? Everyone has an answer in their hearts.
I believe that what this film calls and praises are those noble things brought about by the social attributes of human beings. Only with the existence and development of these values and behaviors can human society have the opportunity to rebuild and re-prosper after disasters.

ps: You can watch "Another Earth" and "Melancholia" for this type of movie. Personally, I feel that the background of the story is a sci-fi coat, but I have not actually seen these two.
