The protagonist of this play is the lead singer of a band who is not favored by others and has a dream of rock and roll. After the relationship with his team members was dissolved, Dewey Fen smuggled into a key elementary school under the guise of Ned Sbury. He wasn't a real teacher, so the first class time was just for breaks. But by chance, he discovered the children's talents in a music class and decided to transform them.
Dewey may not have been a competent teacher in our traditional sense, but he was a good one. When forming the "Rock School" band, he knew how to divide labor and cooperate to help students find their own position, that is, to engage in their own areas of expertise. He liked Frank and asked him to play the keyboard; he liked Jones and asked him to play the drums; and Summer, the band manager, and so on. The unique arrangement made the band look like it immediately, and it seemed that there was a feeling of Confucius "teaching according to his aptitude". And when the students began to doubt themselves, he was able to proactively persuade them to regain their confidence. The electronic piano player felt that he was not cool enough, and the harmony felt that he was too fat to stand on the stage to show himself. Dewey encouraged them in his own unique way. Yes, everyone is unique in the world, so why deny yourself negatively? Show your dazzling side, and the world will be captivated by your charm. What teachers should do is to give students self-confidence—the self-confidence to face up to their own strengths and weaknesses. In addition, Dewey said that the band is to perform each other's works, and the guitarist's creation, although jerky, is the source of inspiration, which makes us understand the importance of unity and cooperation. Only by integrating into the collective can we perfectly realize the value of life.
Of course, I have to mention the rock and roll spirit that runs through the show. The definition I give to it is: to break the old rules and pursue the goals and dreams that have been suppressed for a long time and need to be released on the basis of not crossing the moral bottom line. And this kind of rock and roll spirit cannot be achieved in today's classroom teaching mode. Teachers and parents in the school will always take grades as the standard to measure a student's quality. Still fresh in my memory of the principal's confession: When it comes to children's problems, the parents have no sense of humor. If something goes wrong, it's always me who takes the blame, and the parents bombard me with fatigue. Is this the sadness of education today? However, the performance of the rock school at the end really touched me, and I simply enjoyed the process of rock, rock because of rock, even if I can't get rid of the title of loser, I still rock a different self. And in my life, there is one more thing to look forward to.
I always feel that Mr. Dewey has taught us a lot of things, grasping the moment and having fun in time. Listen to your own heart, give life more choices, and give life more surprises, because you have never pursued or worked hard, which is equivalent to acquiescing to that irresistible force to bring you into death-like silence!
