Since there is another pair of "normal lovers", why not make a comparison and explore human emotions. I prefer to write someone as the heroine's ex-boyfriend.
Since people who write about eternal youth re-enter the net of love and focus on showing the powerlessness of death, it is also possible to compare the two concepts of "immortality" and "death", and their extended conflicts. Actually, there is no one dead, and the husband of the only heroine died in an accident before the heroine could stay young forever. The protagonist (and the eternal youth she is supposed to represent) faces no death. In the end, even the heroine is fine! Another car accident, turned out to be fine!
