The director just returned to the law of "promiscuity/intercourse must die" to make a horror film, why do you pretend to be a metaphor for some kind of disease?
The first time the heroine saw a ghost alone was when the teacher read Thomas Sternas Eliot's poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" in class. This poem is about young people's psychological description of life and love.
When the hostess found jeff, she pulled 5 blades of grass on his lawn and placed them on her knees. In the end, the five victims were JEFF and GREG and the three soy sauce men on the yacht. It means that the childhood sweetheart who finally gets together with the heroine will be fine.
Some people may say that there is a "ghost" behind the last two. But pay attention, the person behind them has his face turned to the other side, which is different from the setting of the "ghost" walking directly in the film.
Therefore, the additional connotation that the director wants in this film is just a "reflection" on the indulgence of teenage sex, not about the risk of sex disease. "Indulgent mentality will destroy you." This is what the director wants to say.
Because you make mistakes, the more you face your loved ones, the more shame you become, and eventually this psychological stress will destroy you. That's why the "ghosts" in the movie turn into acquaintances.

It Follows quotes

  • Yara: I have an idea!

    Paul: What?

Yara: [tilts to one side and farts loudly] It got away.

  • Hugh: Okay, even though it is following you I can still see it. It is not done with me either. Okay, like I told you, all you can do is pass it on to someone else.

Kelly Height: What the fuck are you talking about?

Hugh: She can do the same thing I did. It should be easier for her, she is a girl. Any guy would be with you. Just sleep with someone else and tell him to do the same thing. Maybe it will never come back.
