First of all, I have to talk about its "exquisiteness", which is also the most commendable part of this play - the picture is extremely delicate and beautiful. There is no doubt that "Hannibal" definitely has one of the best artists in American dramas in recent years. Whether it's the doctor's kitchen, office, the feasts presented every time, or the murder scene full of metaphors, you can appreciate the good intentions of the crew's artists. It has to be said that the perfect packaging of this "artistic sense" is an important reason why "Hannibal" can get such high attention. In addition, the adjustment control of photography, editing style and picture color is also excellent. The key reason why "Hannibal" makes us feel "good sense of picture" is its consistent rich and dark "coloring style". The strong colors combined with the dark photography give people a strong or even "high-end" feeling. In addition, there are some scenes full of stream-of-consciousness style depicting dreams, which also make people feel like watching European literary films every minute. However, this is actually a TV series with very limited production budget and few locations.
The second point - "ingenious", is actually mainly in the setting of the play. Here I will not talk about the character setting in the original novel, but focus more on the adaptation and screen presentation of the TV series. Of course, since I haven't made up the movie version yet, I don't know how much the TV drama version has borrowed from the movie version in terms of composition design. If there are any problems, please point out. (I will find time to make up for the four movies later.) First of all, the play's handling of "cannibalism" is actually quite adaptable to the requirements of the TV network. There is no strong and exciting scene of eating a living person directly in the TV series. Instead, there is a beautiful picture of Hannibal cooking leisurely and elegantly in the kitchen, but this does not mean that the horror essence of "cannibalism" is not presented to the audience. The scene in the first season where Hannibal concentrates on hunting and entertaining guests really gave me chills, and the horror and nausea of "cannibalism" is enhanced by the ignorant admiration and feasting of the guests.
The second part of "clever" is the description of Will's ability to empathize (Empathy), which is also my favorite design. In fact, "empathy" is a very deep but indeed very difficult to imagine and experience feeling. It is completely beyond the level of "sympathy" and "empathy", and instead has the perspective of another person and feels the feelings and contradictions of another person. The performance of "empathy" is not easy, and this play cleverly combines Will's empathy with the analysis of the case. After each simple forensic identification of the scene, there is a scene of Will meditating alone. At this time, he turned into a murderer, going back from the final result all the way back to the starting point, and then replaying the entire crime process from the starting point. In the process, the case was fully explained, and Will also analyzed the murderer's psychology based on evidence and empathy. This vague reasoning method is obviously not enough in other criminal investigation or reasoning dramas, but it is indeed a good description of Will's empathy ability and profile here. In the process of empathy, Will felt the subtle psychology of the murderer even reflected on himself, so he often sympathized with the criminals he analyzed, and sometimes even haunted by them. Of course, this is also a foreshadowing of the later plot arrangements.
Hunting down and personally shooting Hobbs was an important starting point for Will, from which he began to have strange dreams and a guilty sense of responsibility towards Abigail. But at the same time his precise empathy also encapsulates Hannibal's personality (as Hobbs' imitator). This part of the feeling is a vague image at the beginning, but as the plot unfolds, the symbol of Will's self in the dream, the elk, begins to have Hannibal's color more and more clearly. This can be regarded as "empathy" between Hannigrams in a certain sense. They understand each other and influence each other, so that they can imitate and deceive each other, thus forming the situation of "love and kill" that everyone often says.
This is a good idea to promote the main line with imagery and metaphors, but it has to be said that there are still some problems in the specific operation. In the first season, the main line was lurking in the first half. Many times the main problem in an episode is still to solve an independent case, and the main line is mainly based on Will's deteriorating condition. And the dream picture that appeared at this time was almost unrelated to the case, as if it was just to remind everyone that "the little teacup is seriously ill", causing a serious sense of slowness and lag. And the case itself doesn't get enough development, so an entire episode feels especially bad. Specifically, we can see the fifth episode of the first season (this episode also includes the beginning of Belle's line, which is also a plot line that feels far away from the main line) and the ninth episode. Before and after them are coherent arrangements (continuous quests, Hannibal's step-by-step design), and they are unusually abrupt and unsightly. My least favorite Design also appears in these two episodes, giving it an inexplicable feeling of being bloody for the sake of form. Other than that, the first season should be pretty good. After reading it, in retrospect, it presents a kind of "net-closing" tension and pleasure.
Regarding the plot arrangement of the second season, my opinion may be slightly different from that of many people. The first half of the second season was brilliant in my opinion, right down to where Dr. Chilton was wrongfully killed. In this first half, there is a clear confrontation between hannigram. At the same time, with a series of major characters changing their perspectives and ideas, Will is forced to the point where he has to stick to his own business. However, in the following approach and deception, the description of some of Will's psychological changes is insufficient, and it can only make people vaguely feel that "he was influenced by Hannibal but still maintained his own sanity". Maybe I need to experience it again in the second week, but the overall feeling of tension is not enough.
Finally, let's talk about the speed of speech and the IQ of teammates that are most complained about. The speed of speech is presumably to match the dark, gloomy tone of the show, but it does feel too slow. The IQ of teammates... I'm really convinced... From the end of the first season, Alana and Jack have been portrayed too blindly and mindlessly, resulting in a lot of logical loopholes in the whole play, and the characters are getting more and more Unpleasant.
The third season is coming~ We will watch the little teacup chase the husband for thousands of miles~
