Going into the movie theater on a sunny Sunday afternoon, buying a pack of popcorn, and watching a comedy movie is great. Watching the movie is still French, and I feel more cured.
This French family film, although stylized, is like a classic pairing like white rice with braised pork. Even if it is common, it can't stop you and me from eating three bowls.
French culture has always been known for its humanities. Let's look at the education of a rural middle school. There are only two foreign language teaching (Spanish and English), and the elective courses cover more aspects of arts and humanities. The whole story would not have been possible without the chorus program offered in the school.
Then, people with a good humanities education tend to become a bit "made". Become complaining, and even go back and think about the ultimate unsolvable questions of "what is life for". French family films often have such characters and complaints, and often find out the truth of life in a string of punchlines.
The deaf-mute family runs the family farm harmoniously and lovingly. The eldest daughter born by the two can speak well, and what is even more surprising is that the singing is like the sound of nature. The music teacher in the school, Bole, generally supported her and encouraged her to study in Paris. However, it is difficult to choose an adolescent heroine. On the one hand, she cannot abandon her family responsibilities, and on the other hand, she is the irresistible temptation of the distance and the future.
However, for the parents, it is even more difficult to accept, like a break-the daughter's ability to talk and talk has brought help to the family on the one hand, but on the other hand, it makes herself feel out of place, and it is not her own to let the Buddha out. When she was emotionally broken down, her mother said that she could not truly communicate with people with normal hearing. It is this sentence that makes me feel that this is not an ordinary comedy film. It points out the sense of estrangement that is difficult to communicate between human beings. This kind of speech is even more cruel and profound when it comes out between mother and daughter. Of course, comedies always end with a laugh, even with tears. In the end, the father took his daughter to Paris to participate in the competition. Life is always moving forward, and every stage has its end.
The film uses this meme of hearing impairment to spark a boycott among the hearing-impaired group in France. For the added comic effect, the deaf parents' performances are quite exaggerated - ignoring the normal code of conduct. But it is this style of going its own way, coupled with the family's pastoral life style, that makes this kind of independent family style more heart-warming.
Another thing worth mentioning about the film is the eternal beauty of adolescence, which can never be seen enough. Every time I listen to that teenage child's singing, I am shocked. When they rehearsed, there was a delicate luster in their hair, a serious and subtle expression, which was really beautiful.
