The decisive Miyazaki and the procrastination of Takahata isao

"The Wind Rises" didn't touch me, so I kept putting off watching this documentary. If it weren't for procrastination and not wanting to do the right thing, maybe it wouldn't turn out "want to see" and make it a thing of the past. After all, it's 2 hours of life.
The reason why I watched it may be because Takahata Isao is mentioned in the recommendation. I like "The Battle of the Heisei Tanuki" very much. The sense of humor in this film is something that Hayao Miyazaki does not have, or that Hayao Miyazaki thinks is not so "useful". But that kind of helpless carnival and self-joking, but deeply attracted me. But in this documentary, in addition to the video data, Takahata Isun appeared for less than 2 minutes.
Because this documentary is mainly about Hayao Miyazaki, The Wind Rises and Ghibli. Because the two of them are not "harmonious", this kind of sum is not in a superficial sense. When people reach a certain height, they want to work very freely. The environment and people of this kind of work should be dominated by themselves and fit their "field", so such two people cannot be together.
But the film says that it takes talent to do it. One of Ghibli's aunts said, Takahata Isao's charm.
Isao Takahata has procrastination. In the film, Hayao Miyazaki and Suzuki both repeatedly said that he could not finish. Kaguya Hime, which he did after my neighbor Yamada-kun for more than ten years, could not be completed. Very very very procrastinating.
Hayao Miyazaki is very decisive, and he only took 5 seconds to decide on the movie poster when the wind was blowing. Hayao Miyazaki's hand speed is super fast, he doesn't write scripts at all, all direct storytelling. Then chatting with people, while splitting and coloring.
Then he recited that Takahata Isao once a day for more than a year during the interview. One day he is said to be talented, and one day he is not motivated.
No one can match the Japanese details, the kind of sadness that is almost nothing. Not Western naturalism. Later, I saw that there was actually Hirokazu Koreeda on the production list. So I was still moved by pulling the progress bar. Miyazaki was also moved by his own film in the end.
At least he was pushing his own ideas aggressively.
There is a saying to describe him: he can't be regarded as a child, but he is definitely not an adult. Anno Hideaki said, it seems. Anno Hideaki was a little cute in the documentary, which made my impression of him a lot better. With a look of helplessness, he said: How can I refuse Mr. Miyazaki...
Originally, I wrote this to encourage myself and treat my procrastination, but I am too tired to write it anymore. Hayao Miyazaki deserves respect, and Isao Takahata deserves liking. Able to comprehend the details and jump out of the frame.
Then if you can't jump out of yourself, if you can't jump out of yourself, you're not yourself.

The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness quotes

  • Hayao Miyazaki: The notion that one's goal in life is to be happy, that your own happiness is the goal... I just don't buy it

  • Hayao Miyazaki: [Waves the camera over to him] Look over there. See that house with all the ivy on it? From that rooftop, what if you leapt onto the next rooftop, dashed over to that blue and green wall, jumped up and climbed up the pipe, ran across the roof and jumped to the next? You can, in animation. If you can walk the cable, you could see the other side. When you look from above, so many things reveal themselves to you. Maybe race along the concrete wall. Suddenly, there in your humdrum town is a magical movie. Isn't it fun to see things that way? Feels like you could go somewhere far beyond. Maybe you can.
