The biggest bug in this film is how the protagonist came into being. The director gave an analogy to the question of "the chicken or the egg". We regard the protagonist of the orphanage as the "egg", and the female protagonist who became pregnant after being raped by himself as the "chicken". Under the condition of time travel Form a closed loop system of egg > chicken > egg > chicken. And without the invention of time travel, neither "egg" nor "chicken" would obviously exist, that is to say, there would be no objective entity like the protagonist at all. So when the Time Travel Bureau was established, how did it create this circular system out of thin air when there was no event subject?

I really regret that I read Robert Heinlein’s short story "You Resurrection Corpses" on Weibo a few days ago. The Sperry brothers adapted it well and smoothly restored the novel, but they couldn’t believe in the audience’s IQ and kept too much. What an obvious narrative foreshadowing, as a result, the surprise of the story is gone. Fortunately, the original short story is too powerful, it is simply one of the "best in history", which makes the logic of the story still catching. ★★★

Always one step faster than the development of the plot, I was quite upset about what would happen next. The director brothers still don't believe in the brain power of the audience. The foreshadowing is too obvious and clear, which greatly reduces the brain-burning pleasure.

Predestination quotes

  • Mr. Robertson: Just relax, Jane. Some of the ladies before you, got a little nervous, a little lost in thought.

Jane: [scoffs] Perhaps that's because to them a thought is unfamiliar territory.

  • Mr. Robertson: I see you've had some disciplinary problems in the past.

Jane: I've had nothing but straight As in all my classes since the first grade.

Mr. Robertson: Yes. Have you ever been with a man?

    Jane: Have you?
